Hi guys! I have been checking in briefly, but mostly spending my time reading about FP+ since that is my next big decision. I was also spending a lot of time researching shoes and can now put that aside after buying a very comfy pair of Keens. :)
My question for today is this: what are your feelings, pro and con, about purchasing Disney's Photo Pass/Memory Maker? I just spent a lot of money on a birthday gift for myself- my first digital SLR! I am very hesitant to spend more on MM, just so that I can be in some of our pictures! What do you guys think? Happy Planning!

We bought PhotoPass when we went to WDW with our grandchildren and extended family. It was great for group shots and for the characters. But three of us were also taking pictures with our iPhones and those pictures were the ones that seemed to make it into our big album more than the PhotoPass ones.

That was our one and only times buying the photo card. Usually when we go to WDW we just take our own pictures and then buy a couple of the professional photos. That way we have some nice group shots for a lot less money. We have also gotten the free 5X7 print in Epcot with our Disney Visa card.

Does anyone know if the times are roughly the same for movies, etc. during their off season (specifically September) as they are for the summer months?

Park hours are different, so I thought maybe movies, marshmallows, etc. would be also... :scratchin

I love my Keens! Good decision!

I like PhotoPass because we do a lot of character meals and I like to have the digital copies of them.

Either here on on the FW thread I saw a note that said marshmallows, campfires, and movies start about 1 hour earlier in the fall and winter.

I understand this has more to do with sunset and perhaps going off of Daylight Savings Time than the crowds/off-season. I don't know if it correlates exactly, but DST is from Mar. 9 to Nov 2, 2014 and begins again on Mar 8, 2015.

I'm new to WL. I'm familiar with other resorts doing the nighttime movies, but what is the campfire and marshmellows. Very intrigued.

Yes, and is this the same as the Chip and Dale Campfire, or is that at the WL Campground??

Apparently there is a campfire ring on the beach at WL. Early evening the cast members pass out marshmallows and have the fire going.

Movie under the stars begins in the same area later on. Check the intro section of this thread. The in-room welcome newsletter lists times.

Chip and Dale Campfire Singalong and movie is held at "the Meadows" in Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground (near WL but a separate resort). They have a larger campfire, hot dogs, candy, snacks, drinks and s'mores kits for purchase. During the campfire, Chip and Dale appear for a 40 minutes singalong followed by an outdoor movie. The campfire and characters are free. Marshmallows and snacks are not. Check the Fort Wilderness FAQ thread for details and photos.

I can't multiple-quote right now, but had to thank you for your lovely post:hug:

I'll be back later with a proper multi-quote. Cheers to all Lodge Moms!

Haven't stayed at WL since 2009 but will be there Sept 9-19 this year. Last time we were there a Photopass photographer was in the lobby. Can they still be found there or anywhere else on WL property?
