Re: the TL...is it kid friendly so to speak? Could you place an order to go perhaps?

Yes, the lounge is kid friendly. But remember it is still a bar and things can get loud in there especially when a good game is on.

You can get drinks to go. They will ask you and will put them in a plastic cup for you.

KOOK, I love all the love for Territory Lounge in your posts! I'm feeling nostalgic for WL and would love to try CL there - trying to figure out where to fit that into upcoming plans. A separate trip over the summer? Right before our current GF/BWI plans in January? Next year during spring break? Not sure, but my entirely tentative plans include snacks in the club lounge in the evening and then a later dinner at Territory Lounge. We LOVE it there. And knowing that my husband and kids could order a few items from Artist Point would make it perfect. (I'll be quite happy with CL snacks and then the fondue appetizer at TL - is that still there?)

Just asked, the fondue is still there.

We are staying at WL for the first time 11/29-12/6. We have a woods view booked and I think I'm going to request a room in the north wing since it sounds like that is most convenient to Roaring Forks and laundry. I'm not sure if I should request ground floor or upper floor. We will have little ones (4 and 1). For the balcony, do you like the enclosed or open balcony? I can see the enclosed would be safer with kids, but seems not as attractive from a view perspective. Also the rooms that open to the lobby seem like they would be neat but are they too loud? Lots of questions - thanks for the advice in advance!

Whereabouts is the Cubs Den? I don't think I saw it labeled on the map...?

Congratulations. Most of the location choices are purely preference, and up to you. For the enclosed balconies they do feel more secure, but you'll have to hold kids up to see out and they are generally only on the top floor of a section of the hotel. (6th or 7th, depending on how far East). The open balconies still have close railing and are pretty safe and let the kids (and seated adults) see out, so many people prefer them.

We really enjoy having a room that opens to the lobby. It is just a beautiful walk down the open hallway to your room. We didn't find the noise to be bad, but we could hear WCC in the evenings. Some prefer a quieter location down one of the hallways.

We also like North Wing because you have a good chance at seeing Wishes over the trees and the middle elevator lets out by Roaring Fork. South isn't bad at all though either and is a little closer to the buses. Overall at WL you really can't go wrong. Happy planning and enjoy your trip.

Hello.

I love your thinking on room locations. Yes, it really is a matter of preference. What someone else likes may not be best for you.

You have a great way of saying it. Also walking out your door everyday to the lobby truly is wonderful. :goodvibes Every time I see the Totems I am in awe. So magical.

Thanks! When we first got a lobby room we were slightly concerned because we had read complaints about noise, but we fell in love with the view. I think we took pictures every time walking to/from the room...

I think the key thing is every room at WL has something nice about it, since they're in a great resort. With matching location to preference you can sometimes optimize it a little bit, but it's not like any room there is bad. :thumbsup2

Definitely North wing for us. We have been upgraded to ground floor pond view though. Great location but I would worry about the pond with kids. Ask at check in about location of the room, it will save you time and effort so you won't have to go back and try to change rooms.

I booked a courtyard w/free dining 11/17-11/22...there are 2 courtyards, right? So if I don't make a request, I could end up with an outer courtyard?

Staying here with my family 11/30-12/6

It will be my second time at Disney but my first time at Wilderness lodge! Can't wait to see it decorated for Christmas!

Whelp, not sure when we'll be returning to the Lodge now. I had hoped to swing a long weekend sometime this year.

Just found out my husband is being deployed back to Afghanistan with his work.

I am sad because he will be over there and happy for him at the same time. Happy because we will most likely being doing DVC now.

A lot has happened since we returned on the 6th! Wish we could go back before he has to report to his new location.
Deployment can really throw a wrench into your plans. DH was deployed to AFG back in 2010. It did make for great anticipation of his return and going back to WDW with him. It also allowed DD and I to have a bit more flexibility in when and where we stayed at WDW while he was gone. If you have kids, can you plan a trip with them while DH is deployed? If you don't have kids, have you thought about a solo trip? Having some trips to plan while he was deployed really helped the time go faster for us.

Please thank your DH for all of us here on the thread. We're a patriotic bunch and really appreciate yours and DH's sacrifices:grouphug:

From December, and verified by livinatthelodge:

That's the one! The small cups are there, there are also nice cappuccino cups. Mostly people use the "to go" cups when they are trying to use the machine. It will just take some time.

Also, those seven dwarf magic bands were given out to the attendees of the press event. Just like the e-ticket magic bands a few months ago. It would be nice if they eventually came out with them.
Blimey! Well, thank you for the MB information. I guess I could order the grey and decorate mine with a Sharpie:artist:

Another vote for kid-friendly, but everything at WDW is pretty kid-friendly. Kids can even order off the AP kid's menu, but you need to ask for it.

Subbing to the thread as we are thinking about booking WL for our next trip, and I want to follow along to learn more! :)
Welcome to the thread! We're glad to have you here and let us know if you have any questions. Have you stayed in the MK area before?

We have officially booked the WL for free dining from 11-11 to 11-21 at CL :cool1: First real trip to Disney, can't wait!
I will officially log your dates. You are going to be hooked on the OFC!

It is located near the exit to the buses. :)
...Yes, and koh, it's right across from Buttons and Bells Arcade which is next to The Mercantile, but outside the south side doors.

There is a WL Courtyard and a VWL Courtyard. I'll make sure I've logged your dates.

:welcome: to the DIS and the VWL/WL thread, Heather! We're so happy your first post is here. I'll put your dates into the Lodgers' Log in POST 2.

We just booked our third trip to Disney and our first at WL! Booked a courtyard view bunk bed room with free dining 10/26-11/1. The wife and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary with our DS(12) and DD(9).
Seems like a top floor south wing has a really neat view, do those have bunk bed rooms? Do any of the bear face rooms have bunks? Thanks for creating such a wonderful thread ! The wife and I are so excited but haven't told the kids yet.

No, no kids yet, but we plan on it in the future, that's why DVC is a real possibility for us.

I have thought of a solo trip, but that might not happen soon enough haha. I may have convinced him to drive down next weekend for Star Wars weekend, since he has to report to his new location in Bridgewater, VA (we live near Winchester, VA anyway) on May 19th which means he will be living there Mon-Fri and home on weekends until he goes.

I even called and scheduled him for DTech Me for a Stormtrooper. If we go though, since there are no rooms at the Lodge, we would probably be at CB, which is ok because we at least got to see it when we fished with our guide there on Monday.

DH was deployed back in 2011-2012 doing the same thing, so he is leaving a lot quicker than he did last time since there is less training. And I was able to accomplish quite a lot while he was gone, including buying our first home. Family is only a phone call or an 8hr drive away.

Hi we have been DVC owners a WLV since 2001. We will be back from December 28- January 3rd. Our first time ever being there for NYE.
Please let me know if you can link to any good information on what to do/plan for WL during this time!
Thanks!

I believe 2 of the 14 Bear Face rooms have bunks, but that may be subject to change. There are bunks on both sides of the South wing, but if you want the view overlooking the main pool (looking to the North) you should be sure to request "Inner Courtyard". Enjoy your trip!

Hello all.. Checking in from Artist Point. I am alone this weekend so kinda sad to eat alone.. But the view is amazing
