Air Canada is cancelling some flights now with a complete shutdown expected on Saturday. Expect additional pressure on the networks of it's partners, primarily United, but probably Lufthansa also.

I'm thankful the Hockey players we're billeting and either flying WestJet or driving. Hopefully they resolve things soon.

The report is that the government is going to force both sides into binding arbitration. The union is telling it's members to not look at their phones for a period of time so they can't get the call that forces them back to work. It's still going to be a few days as there will be some illegal job actions, but nothing that can be proven, before things get back to normal.

My brother is booked from Oakland to Vancouver for an Alaska cruise Saturday. Keeping my fingers crossed for him.

CIRB has ordered Air Canada to resume operations at 14:00 EDT today and for all flight attendants to return to work. AC says it will take a couple days to fully spin back up as planes and pilots are out of position. What remains to be seen is whether the flight attendants will all show up for work this afternoon.

The union has announced on Radio Canada that they will defy the return to work order. Personally, I hope that AC sues the union for all the money they are going to have to pay due to some of Canada's Air Passengers Rights. This will cost AC millions every day and there is absolutely nothing they can do unless they bend over and capitulate to the unions outrageous demands. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/air-canada-flights-sunday-1.7611078

Southwest Air flights from border city Buffalo to Orlando and reverse are sold out for the next few days. I assume its Canadians coming back to using Buffalo airport. Airport travel had been down since Canadians were boycotting USA this year. The airport may be busier than normal traffic we have become used to.
