Thank you so much, Jill, for helping me to better understand what it means to keep the sabbath. I mean, it seems like I've always had in the back of my mind that it means go to church on Sunday and don't work. But as I was reading the scriptures last night in Isaiah 56, I was thinking there just has to be more to keeping the sabbath than "go to church and don't work". And your explanation really makes a lot of sense to me!!

Sarah, thanks for reminding us all to celebrate Jeanne today! I think that is such an important and encouraging thing to do for each other to lift each person up and make them know they're special...birthdays are a good time for that! I think we are called to do that whenever we think of it too!! You're such a good encourager!

I'm glad I helped you out Jen...I was jsut looking over what I said again and I hoped it made sense. I'm open to hear anyone else's idea about Sabbath too! I know that it is important that we look on all of God's laws as a gift to us to live a life that is best for us. I guess I was trying to say that God's laws, though we can't be perfect in them are to provide for us the best way to live. So by accepting His gift of Sabbath rest which includes fellowship with Him and other believers we are living by His great design. I think that if people are bound to work on Sunday that they need to seek another time to rest renew and find fellowship and worship with God and other believers.

On another topic, I hope this doesn't stir up too much controversy, but I wanted to share it. I had heard recently that among Jewish women there is a lower rate of certain kinds of reproductive cancers and they think it may be related to male circumcision. I don't know the true facts in that study, but I do know that God's ways are perfect and it wouldn't surprise me at all if indeed circumcision was required for better health of His people. I am not holding to the "LAW" and condemning anyone who doesn't believe in that particular procedure. I know Paul had a lot to say about the fact that it was NOT necessary for salvation (as we all know). I just thought it was interesting and I thought it went along with the importance of adhering to God's laws even when they don't always make sense in modern society.

Good News! I have gotten a second interview in a job that I'm interested in taking for the Fall. I am trying to really focus on God here. This job would be in a Christain vs. public school and I wasn't sure that I was being led there (my kids are in public school and so is my DH and I think my ultimate goal was to be in their District) but I am trusting in God to show me where he wants me. The amazing thing about this job is that it is 50% time... my youngest will be in half day kindergarten next year. I was concerned about accepting a position that would be taking me away from him too much in this his last year with some time at home. This position would be the exact perfect hours to allow me to not have to shuffle Jonathan in the afternoon and ALSO so that our morning routine with ALL of my kids would still be firm. I feel like it is important to have a good start to the day where I as the mom can know that everyone is where they should be when I set out to do my job. ALSO the pay would be exactly perfect...don't get me wrong, we could ALWAYS use more! But I would have to say that the pay would be God's PROVISION to us for what we need. I had been so worried before and way too concerned about making MORE money than we have now, but God is working! I don't believe in Jinxing (sp) so I don't think that by posting here I am risking this not working out. I DO know that if this job doesn't work out there will one for me that God will lead me to where the circumstances will be just as ideal...maybe better! I just wanted to share that I will be interviewing again next week and ask you all to pray! TIA!

Hi Jilly! I love to celebrate birthdays and I too think it is important for them to know how special they are to us( and not just on birthdays, but all year round too). At my work they call me the "Pixie Dust" person and my job is to make everyones birthdays a little more speical. If you guys want I could be our "Pixie Dust" person, I have all ready made a list of when all of your birthdays are( at least the ones that had them listed).

And Jilly that is soooooo exciting, that you got a second job interview and I am soooooo happy for you! I hope things work out for you, but if not it just means something better is going to come your way. I will be saying my prayers for you. When do you have the job interview? And please keep us updated.

I'm supposed to be working a newsletter right now, but I think I must be in one of those procrastinating moods so I apologize for you all having to read my numerous babblings! I think I'm trying to avoid my work and also, by staying here on the DIS, trying to avoid downing a package of CHIPS AHOY!

Guys, I think this is nervous energy stemming from worry and fear...mostly about my niece. True I got to talk to her last night, but she was doing soso, but she's NOT ok...you know?? And I feel so.... UUGGGHHH...incapable sometimes and I want to just take her home with me and fix it all myself! Of course I know better and last night, I let the Spirit take over and today I am praying to do the same when she calls. I am SOOOO blessed to know where her true healing lies and to be able to share that with her at every turn and to watch him work even in the bad times. I also have my mom who is in the same position as I...we each offer Jess our own unique perspective...handed to us from the Father.

Thank you all so much for your birthday wishes! You made me feel so special. My DH and Kids did such a great job of picking gifts for me this year (a scrapbooking on the computer cd and MercyMe's UNDONE CD and some other great stuff) and we are off to meet my Dad and my sister tonight for dinner... Jilly, I will keep on praying and I totally agree with you on the Sabbath issue. I have been making it a point to stop Doing So Much on Sunday, and just spend it worshiping... and sometimes that can be hard with all that goes on in life. Especially because I am the church secretary, and people sometimes will ask me to do things on Sunday. I am making it a real point (with Pastor Ben's blessings) to say "could you call me tomorrow with that, or place a note in my mailbox? I am not working today".
