May 20–23, 2010, at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL

I've RSVP'd already - can't wait to "sea"/hear what's new! I see they are giving out a picture again (hope it isn't the same one from the webcast!) but they didn't mention any other giveaways like the last event.

Hope they surprise us with some goodies and maybe some good incentives. The time with the characters though was priceless!

We signed up too for Fri. the 21st. Should be fun.

I signed up too. What can I expect to see? I've never been to one of these before. What "goodies" have they done at previous events. I am excited to hear what they have to say about DCL.

We haven't been to an event like this yet but we RSVP'd for the Sunday afternoon reception. Looking forward to it!

We're thinking of going to this Saturday, May 22nd. Any info that anyone can share that's been before is much appreciated. Thanks.

I agree that if it says "sea" it must have something to do with the cruise line. Maybe they are announcing either the Alaska or Mediteranean cruise deal?

Where do you find out about these special events? Do they only invite people they think are local? I am just wondering as we are several hours away from NYC but if there was an event there I might go. Curious as to how these things work.

I've only been to one, so I'm really not an "expert" on them, but the last one was PHENOMENAL! We had an absolute blast. We got there, got a goodie bag with a DVC notepad (the kind that is vinyl and goes around a legal pad), pen, and a "raffle" form. We sat down, and as soon as they started, they started giving out goodies! We got DVC plastic binoculars (cheap, not very good magnification, but free, so we thought they were awesome!), Blue iced rice crispie treats like a gift (think Tiffany package), something else I can't remember, but by far the coolest gift was DVC passport holders! They are very upscale looking (think Burberry). I was especially impressed that my daughter was only 2.5 years old and got everything we did. No child-discrimination!

Also, the "party" at the end was awesome! It was on a raised section, and all of a sudden it lit up, the DJ started playing, Mickey & Minnie came out, Tink, Aladdin & Genie! We then got to dance and hang out with the characters. So magical! Much better than anything at the parks. My daughter was just beside herself! She got to dance with Mickey for almost an entire song. She got to take pics with Aladdin & Tink (she was scared wit-less with Genie).

Lastly, no time EVER did I feel pressured to buy additional points!!! Sure, they told you all about them, the specials, etc., but at the end they simply said there were DVC reps in the back room and if you were interested to go talk with them. That's it. We walked out without even having to say NO once!!! And, to boot, they gave us a bunch of the Mickey Ear rice crispie treats that they sell in the park to take home and enjoy.

It was an absolutely wonderful experience and I signed up to go to this event the moment I got the email. Looking forward to it SO MUCH!

As far as the specials go, be prepared if you're even thinking about it to consider adding points. If I would have know just how good the deal was going to be last time, I would have bought the points, but we didn't think it was going to be a great deal. I'm still kicking myself!!!

As far as who they invite, I have no idea. I'm guessing they email people within the state at least. And, it isn't restricted to your email, so someone could forward it to you if you wanted to sign up and drive, you could. I would just keep an eye out on the Disboards!

Hope I answered everything! :thumbsup2

How painful would it be for my 3 year old to sit through? The party sounds so fun, but is there a whole spiel like you do for regular DVC? How long do they usually last?

I went to the Improv over spring break, so am familiar with the theater. Do you think I could set up DD with her DVD player or something?

Are they generally full?

So many questions, so little time....

Actually, don't bother...they have a KID'S ROOM!!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh, and it isn't a big spiel.

Last time we went they were just talking about what you could do outside Disney, and then gave maybe a 10-15 minute presentation on the specials.

We just joined a month ago and were excited to get the email yesterday. We're going to the last one on Sunday because it was the only one that worked out with all the kids activities. Can't wait for the kids to see some characters!:)

I went to the Member's Tour at BLT last Thursday and they showed a video about the newest Cruise ship. they also talked about buying more DVC points and the free 3-5 day cruises they are giving as incentives.
Wow, I want to go on that ship.....
I bet this is what they will show there too, sounds about the same.
They gave us a DVC member eco-friendly shopping bag that had one of those legal pad notebooks inside. they served finger sandwiches and chocolate covered cheesecake pops and had a member question time where if you were picked you won a prize, mostly those lightweight backpacks.
I did the Welcome Home Wednesday the day before and got one of those passport holders for being on the "Jeopardy" game panel. Dee Vee Cee was the host.
I would go if it came to my area, it sounds like they make those get togethers fun.

DH signed us up for Sunday May 23 at 4pm. This is our first event so we are very excited! :woohoo:

We just signed up for DVC a few weeks ago and are anxiously awaiting our estimated closing date on the 24th! Already booked our first family vacation on October 3rd! So, this Sea Whats Next Event will be our first and we're really looking for to it and Andrew (our 4 yr old) can't wait to meet Mickey there! Most of the good times/dates are already booked up..but we got Friday @ 7pm! See you all there! And kudos to our awesome guide Derek whose cohosting the event!
