Has anyone done the Chef Mickey character dinner? Was wondering how it was in terms of the food and fun with the characters - we have kids, boys 4 & 6. Thinking of doing the dinner over breakfast so we can concentrate on getting to the park as early as possible. Thanks in advance!

We love Chef Mickey's dinner and go there every trip.

Last September , we had my DD's 2nd birthday there. You'll get differing opinions though, some like it some not. We've never had a problem there.

This is on our list of "not to be missed" places. We enjoyed the food and fun. Very convenient to go have dinner and right back to the park. We've never tried the breakfast before but we will add that to our list of new things to try on our next trip. ENJOY!

He loves being able to eat kid and "grown-up" food...and he adores the dessert buffet! All in all, I'd give it a pretty high score too... The last time we were there, my brother ( a stick in the mud) even had a good time with the characters. Goofy is the BEST!

We are going to WDW in Dec 06. I heard that eating breakfast at Chef Mickey's is the thing to do. I plan on having breakfast there on our first full day in the parks. Plus hopefully, I would like to get the photo's and autographs out of the way. My DS will have his 9'th birthday while we are there. I am thinking that having a buffet dinner at Chef Mickey's would be a good thing to do. I purchased the dining plan. But can I seperately purchase a cake for our table? How does that work? Do I mention it when I make the reservations in June? Any thoughts?

We love Chef Mickey's and go every trip!! Our kids are 3 and 8. The character interaction is so great and the atmosphere is so lively and fun. We really like the food and feel it is a great variety for us and the kids. The desserts are great too!! We are not breakfast eaters but we have heard the breakfast there is great too. We just love going to dinner there and catching WISHES on the observation deck before/after our meal. DS 2yo at the time also loved it and was even swinging his napkin with everyone!!

Thanks for the replies and info! Desnik, can you please tell me where the "observation deck" for the fireworks is? Is it in the restaurant? Thank you!!!

We too, love CM....we go their for dinner twice every trip. Love it!!!

We love Chef Mickey's. It is really a fun time.

:cheer2: we went for dinner and it was SUPER SUPER fun!! A great FIRST meal at WDW!! We had a blast and thought the service and food was good too! We got up at 4AM that morning and by 6pm that night my girls were DANCIN with Goofy!!! It was great...lots of energy and fun...the food was good too IMO...The sundae bar is HUGE !! The smoothie was weak and icky so steer clear of that, otherwise have a ball

I've eaten there 3 times over the past 4 years and it's pretty good but pricey. Standard "all you can eat buffet style" food and it's fun to do it once. I might go back but if I never eat there again, I won't miss it. The characters come around and interact with you pretty good. I give the whole experience an B- to C+.

Although I've enjoyed CM's for breakfast, had dinner here and it was awful. Worst meal I ever had at WDW. Found the food just so-so and the service very slow. Sorry, just my honest opinion.

Have to agree with Terk-1. CM for dinner is just plain awful. The atmosphere is great. Loads of fun. But the food is terrible. And we too love Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Dinner however is another story. :crazy2:

Chef Mickeys - very noisey but fun.

After a day at MK you little ones may be a bit tired for dinner and all the activity to really enjoy the characters.
The same characters are there for breakfast.

Just a suggestion of what we have done...
Do an Early Entry morning at MK and then reserve a 10 AM Chef Mickey breakfast. The CR is the first stop off the monorail from MK.

Donald duck will be in the lobby of Chef Mickeys. You will get your picture taken with a Chef Mickey background. You will be given a pager - those red light black round circle things (do not wonder off too far) to wait for your table. Everyone has an ADR - so it's first come, first table. But do not worry, you will get seated. Then let the games begin.

Wonderful breakfast buffet - great children's selections.
Napkin twirlling every twenty minutes to a Chef Mickey's song you will hum the rest of the day. Mickey, Goofy, Chip and and Dale will wonder the room to do autographs, pictures, play with your food and mess up your hair.

After breakfast - if you have time- look at some of the gift shops at the other end of the floor which Chef Mickey's is on. There is a great 'kitchen gaget' shop. I bought Mickey Hand cabinet knobs there for a free standing cabinet in my kitchen. I should have bought more :lmao:

You can even use the bathrooms on the floor below if the need  arises.

The monorail is right there if you wish to go back to MK or go to the TTC and switch to an EPCOT monorail.
You could even take a boat from the CR marina to the Fort Wilderness Camp Ground and visit the petting zoo (it's free).

We have done Chef Mickeys dinner too - but the food is more for adult tastes.

Went last trip for dinner and loved it. There were 6 adults and 2 kids- 5 and 18months...everybody liked it!

We loved the dinner we ate there. Sometimes they have fancier selections than others. The current selections on all ears don't sound all that fancy, but the menu changes frequently. We had a seafood penne pasta that was great and a seafood salad with sea scallops and shrimp.
They always have ham and prime rib. I've never seen those two items change on allears. Both were excellent. They always have some kind of chicken. It was rather plain when I went. I didn't have any but the kid gave it thumbs up. The Orange Terriyaki they have listed at allears sounds better. They always have the mashed potatoes. Yummy. They seem to always have the pizza, mac n cheese and mickey ravioli's. The Mac N Cheese was excellent, the ravioli's rather plain and the Pizza good. I think they always have the tenders also They always have two veggie selections. The ones listed on all ears sound Blech to me but when we went they had broccoli with an almond sauce... Yummy and corn. They had the salmon which was really good. The Salad bar was decent, but not spectacular. The prepared salads they had at the end of it were good though.
The Characters were wonderful.
We'll be doing it again next trip.

There are a few nice dinner selections Parmesan mashed potatoes and prime rib and the dessert selection is wonderful. Found the fish to be a bit dry and veg a bit :sad2: Also had breakfast which was nice but they didnt have my favorite puffed frenched toast - just the fingers which were quite ordinary. The breakfast pizza was yum though. Drawback was we were too full to ride anything at MK and going on Space Mountain after was not the best idea. I burped around the park until mid - day. We usually only eat a bowl of cereal or slice of toast for breakfast in our house, which is why dinner works best for us after we have done the parks. Then its a nice full tum whils watching the evening parade before heading back to the resort.

Just so you know, its not the same exact characters for dinner. Donald Duck is not at the breakfast. Goofy is in the lobby at breakfast-- no Donald at all, so if you really want to see Donald, you may not want to do breakfast.
