Has Anyone done this? Do you book it ahead of time, or just wait and pay the day of? How long is the wait generally? We would do it the day we arrive (Thursday April 20) probably at some point between 4 and 5.

The only con I have really read is that it's down a lot, due to winds. Would I be able to find out if it's running or not before heading over to Disney Springs?

Any tips, advice, or stories appreciated :)

Did it once. We just walked up and paid the admission and went for the ride. It is dependent on the weather and the wind speed. The higher the wind speed, the lower the maximum height you will ascend. Pretty good view up there.

It's not owned by Disney - Aerophile is the company and you can google for their phone number.

It's first-come, first-served and you buy your tickets at the venue. I've never seen a long line for it. Perhaps due to the cost: $18 for 8-10 minutes.

We did it once and the line was pretty long. We waited about 30 minutes and it really wasn't worth it. Perhaps if you go when Illuminations is happening, it might be nice, but otherwise the view is just of the surrounding area and it's not that great.

My girls just love the idea of going up in a hot air balloon . We are considering this and/or a carriage ride.

It seems like 90% of the time I go to Disney Springs, it's not operating because of "high winds at altitude." I'm not a big fan of heights unless I'm also going really fast (I love roller coasters but HATE ferris wheels) so I've got no desire to do it myself.

I LOVE IT! :yay: I had to wait about 30 minutes once (but this was during a spring break trip) but most of the time the wait is 10-15 minutes. You are right though...ALL depends on the weather/winds. I've missed riding it the last 2 trips :sad2: ...could only make 1 trip over to DS and both times it was either windy or rainy. I LOVE the views...on a clear day you can see Epcot, the Swan & Dolphin, the CR, Tower or Terror and Orlando. IMO it's one of the best "deals" at Disney World!

What. No soccer umbrella hat :-)

As Goopy has said. It is a great view from up there. It will go up 400 feet. At least the time I went on with friends around midday. The wait was the time for it to come back down so we could get on.
