Character Dining Catered To Boys, Why Not???

I have 2 DD's ages 9 and 7 and they would argue all the time that I spend WAY more on my DS age 4. They think he gets everything he wants and is totally spoiled! ;) I would LOOOOOVVVVE to take him to Pixar or Star Wars or any of those meals. I'd love to go too....as would my girls. I would love more character dining options anyway. The Neverland theme would be awesome! pirate: At 4, my son is a "preschooler" but he would have no idea who JoJo is...how long has it been since that's been on??? Little Einsteins and Handy Manny are WAY down on his list....it's ALL about Woody and Jessie and Buzz. What is Disney thinking???? :confused3 Our next trip is September....I would be over the moon if we could book a new, never done, awseome boy themed character dining!!!

My two little boys love the princess meals BUT we'd LOVE a Toy Story meal too! I have always thought they should do a Pizza Planet themed buffet. How fun would that be? :cool1: Kind of like the CS (even though that place is way too crowded) and with characters.

They're thinking of the littler kids, like my son, who would feel like he'd died and gone to heaven at that meal. I think that meal is a wonderful way to remember the littler kids and have a meal themed to their channel. :confused3

My boys and my girl would love one of those kind of meals...especially a Star Wars, POTC, or TS meal!

I see a few problems that stop character dining for suggestions here like Toy Story, PotC, and The Incredibles.

The first is theming along with what restaurants currently exist--Disney character meals are supposed to fit a theme, not just be random characters attached to the meal. So what currently existing WDW restaurants could fit these characters?

Toy Story--The only ones that come to mind are WCC and Trail's End, both out of the way (not on the Monorail lines), and the former already has its entertainment shtick. The most promising would be something like redoing the Diamond Horseshoe in MK, but that's a major project. There's no good space or toy themed restaurant.

PoTC--maybe the Pepper Market at CBR, but that's really out of the way. There's no table service restaurant in Adventureland to take over, and it wouldn't fit in any other park.

The Incredibles, Up, Monsters Inc., Star Wars--no idea where any of these characters would fit.

Also, for PotC in particular, good luck finding the Johnny Depp impersonators willing to do a character meal every day!

A long time ago DHS (then MGM) had a buffet set up in the area that I believe is now the Disney Junior show, and they would rotate the characters depending on what new movie was out. When I went it was an Aladdin breakfast, I still have a button that says "I had breakfast with Aladdin."

So if they wanted to set up a meal with various characters, they could, without worrying about whether the characters fit the theming; in a situation like that they made the room fit the characters. The current Disney management chooses not to go this way, for whatever reason.

I will admit I am the mother of an 11 yr old Girl. However I am currently planning a trip for my nephew who will be 11 at the time of our trip (his first trip)!! Guess what he wants for meal? Just Guess? He wants CRT!!! He wants Chef Mickey's and he is thrilled I was able to book them!!

With that said I do think some new character meals would be nice.

The current meals they have are interesting to me. The princess meals combine multipal movies attracting a wider audience. Making them extremely popular meals. Even if your childs favorite princess is Belle your interaction with the other princess increases the chance your child will want to see that princess's movie, and possibly buy products associated with them.

Pooh is a Stand alone movie all of the characters in this movie are memorable and loveable in their own right. This movie is popular with Boys/Girls and may very well be the first Disney movie every child watches as a toddler.

Chef Mickey's The Fab Five!! 'nough said :) With Mickey Mouse You cant lose. This too is a gender neutral meal.

The Preschool meals are honestly to me more boy related than girl. (Oso, Handy Manny, and Jake) However at preschool age the kids dont really care.

Which brings me to Stitch personally I believe this is totally a boy meal. How many girls really enjoy the grossness of Stitch and appreciate it the way boys do? Having a girl of my own I know Stitch is not a high priority. But My nephew loves him.

Chip and Dale are equally loved by both genders.

There are more available as well.

Then there's Pirates Leauge, and Jedi Training, Both geared towards Boys.

A Villians Meal would appeal to a lot of Adults and Older children, possibly some younger ones.(this would be my personal Favorite to be honest)

A Toy Story meal would appeal to everybody, and make Boys feel they had their own meal.

I honestly think a Hero meal would make a great Boy option (Hercules, Aladdin, Beast, Couple Princes, Flynn Ryder etc...)

After all is said and done I think Disney does a great job offering a variety of things for both Boys and Girls. I could go through all the different rides, shows and attractions but Im sure you all can figure them out :)

I think this is where WDW is lacking the most. My DS is too old now for it to matter, but they really need more things for pre-teen & teenage boys. We didn't have a problem finding fun meals & things to do, when he was younger. As he got older, the only character meal he enjoyed was 1900 PF breakfast, because the Mad Hatter was hilarious. For the rest, he'd go to eat, if I booked the meal. He really wasn't into typical character meals at all.

I'm not sure if it's the fact that there's not much for boys, or that the princess stuff is in your face 24/7 in the parks. The sheer volume of princess/fairy merchandise makes it appear that what they do have for boys is severely lacking. There's also BBB & 3 princess meals. It's just really hard to miss the fact that they are heavily targeting girls. I wonder if people would be as upset over the lack of boy themed merchandise & meals, if there wasn't so much stuff that is specifically for girls. I'm not suggesting they do less for girls, but it does appear very one sided.
