Changing Park Reservation

We booked a last minute trip to WDW. Understandably DHS was fully booked for park reservations. We booked the other 3 parks to cover each day with the hope that DHS will open one of the days. I understand I have to keep checking. It also seems that if we think there is availability, we have to cancel the existing park reservation to book a new one. This makes me nervous since several parks are already filled, so I would hate to lose complete access. Are there any tricks of the trade on switching park reservations? Do we have to check for availability on the general WDW site and then log into MDE if we see availability?

No one has posted any way to get around that moment of panic between cancelling and booking new parks.

The best option continues to be Park Hopping, but that means no chance at Rise of the Resistance.

Sorry, there isn't anything that can be done other than dropping current reservation and trying to book the other. VERY risky right now with most parks being at park reservation capacity. Wish it were different but unfortunately it's how things work right now.

People are reporting not to even bother stalking the calendar. Just go straight to where you actually make the reservation and stalk that screen. However, to do that you’ll need to have an open ticket day. I suggest dropping an Epcot day since EP is usually last park to fill up.

Being prepared to grab one immediately after it pops up should give you a jump. Every second counts right now. Just remember if you don’t find the HS or park you’re looking for, try to get back your EP.

If this all seems too risky for your plans... then hopping at 2p may be a better choice.

I was stalking an Oct 1st MK reservation for weeks. Each morning I would check the calendar, see MK full but other parks open so I was pretty sure that I'd have other options before I cancelled my existing Epcot reservation. I'd cancel my Epcot reservation and then go immediately to the reservation booking, try for MK and when it didn't come up, re-booked my Epcot day. Yesterday MK finally came up for me even though the calendar showed it as full. Good Luck!

That the rub. You really need to try even when the calendar says full. Its not accurate/doesn't update immediately. We were able to get HS for 4 people on June 3rd when it said it was sold out for all three booking classes.
