Celebrities whose appeal is lost on you...

The mystery to her success is having famous relatives. She's cross-eyed and has a lisp although I have to say that I feel bad that she had such a rough childhood. Between her and Mackenzie Phillips, it seems the folks in Hollywood had no issues with doing drugs with children back in the day.

Nonsense.

Having famous relatives can land someone a few roles, but it can't even come close to accounting for Drew Barrymore's success.

She's a talented actor, funny, and incredibly attractive in a cute, girl next door kind of way.

Remember, she's also a pretty successful producer, of her own accord (not just getting producer credits because she's a sought-after actress).

With regard to his acting though - he is a good actor, but he's been coasting for the last few years. He was very good in the Quiet American, and I really liked him in The Mummy. I hope he wakes up soon before his career diappears.

Well, I haven't seen Quiet American and I guess sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between bad acting and a bad script.
But I've never seen any acting talent there.
Inkheart and Journey to the Center of the Earth were absolutely painful to watch. You know how sometimes you watch a really bad actor and you find yourself embarassed for them. That's how I usually feel when I watch Brendan Fraser.

On the other hand, I think Natalie Portman is a good actor and I felt the same way watching her say some of her lines in the new Star Wars movie.

I totally agree with you - it was very embarassing watching those movies. He seems like he is just collecting a paycheck at this point, I just think he can do much better.

I get what you mean about the bad scripts, the love scenes in Star Wars 2 were atrocious.

Nick Cage. I don't think he has stepped outside of the box he's been in since Raising Arizona. It seems like every part he does is the same one over and over and over and over. I don't get it. Hubby can watch him in anything.

Phish.

Then explain Kate Hudson to me. I honestly do not think she's talented.

The difference is that they are two completely different people. One is cute, funny, and talented, and her talent has nothing to do with her famous relations. The other is simply the daughter of a famous person, with not a whole lot of talent. For one the famous relatives help her to continue her career (Kate) for the other, her relatives helped her break into the business but she maintains her success by having talent. She's a talented actress as well as having many behind the camera talents including her own production company

Two thumbs way up! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Will Ferrell - he plays the exact same character in every role he has.
Jim Carrey - for the same reason although he does step outside of the box every now and then
Sean Penn - he has always been a little creepy to me
Tom Cruise - I have never liked him and his off screen antics and personal views creep me out. I will not see any movie he is in if I can avoid it
Katie Holmes - maybe if she got away from her husband. she seems so lifeless
Angelina Jolie - she seems to be a little to full of herself and not really the best actress IMHO
Johnny Depp - I love him as an actor and admire his talent but I don't get the physical attraction people have for him. I think his political views are a little off too but he is a talented actor
The Gosselins - haven't they used up their 2 minutes of fame yet. And what is up with her hair EWW

I thought of some more:

Ty Pennington
Heidi Montag
Paula Abdul
Adam Lambert
Clay Aiken
Victoria Beckham - especially after her appearance on Idol

Then explain Kate Hudson to me. I honestly do not think she's talented.

I thought she was really good in Almost Famous and she's done a pretty good job in everything I've seen her in.

But you don't necessarily have to be super talented to be a star. You just have to be popular and draw audiences to your movies/tv shows/etc. If nobody went to see Kate Hudson movies, I don't think she'd keep getting cast, regardless of who her parents are.

I thought of some more

Chelsea Handler
Adam Lambert

My wife and I think Chelsea is absolutely hilarious. But I think comedy is one of those things where everyone's opinions vary tremendously. Almost every comedian out there has people who love them and people who find them completely unfunny.

I agree with most of the people mentioned except Ray Romano. I didn't watch his old show that often but I adore "Men of a Certain Age". He's great on that!

The celebrity that is at the top of my can't stand list is Jennifer Garner. I think she is terribly unattractive and I don't buy her "girl next door" image for a second.

Of those with relatives in show business, I do think Kate Hudson was great in Almost Famous. However, Nicholas Cage is the worst actor ever. He'd have no career if his uncle wasn't Francis Ford Coppola.

Ben Affleck isn't good at picking out scripts, but I can forgive that because he's so gorgeous. :lovestruc I liked Jersey Girl a lot, that had J. Lo in it. She's another one who can't seem to choose a good script. Jennifer Aniston also can't pick out a decent script, plus I couldn't care less about her love life. Can we just say she's an "old maid"? :teeth:

I think Sean Penn is an incredible actor. Mystic River is one of the best movies ever made, and he was awesome in Milk too. Brendan Frasier did a bang-up job in School Ties. Love that movie and his performance in it! Sarah Jessica Parker is far from being a traditional beauty, but I think she gives off something special when the camera hits her at the right angle.

Victoria Beckham needs to see a dermatologist, pronto. The Gosselins and Clay Aitken--oh, yeah, I agree. Those are three people whose 15 minutes ended years ago.

I stand by my opinion of Drew Barrymore as a model and actress. She's cross-eyed, her chest is sagging already, she has a lisp, and she can't act.
