Celebrating A 5th Birthday with Mickey & Rain,May 2009! Completed..

Yay! Kudos to you for being the first in the Character Spot! :thumbsup2 Those pictures are fabulous! I love how Donald is resting his arm on Thomas' head and how Goofy is playing with Kaylee's hair! :lmao:

Sara

Dang - you updated really fast after that last one - I'll be back after I read it! LOL!

Thanks Sara,
I loved getting our picture with all the characters. The kids enjoyed the character jackpot. Well it's storming out today and I have already cleaned the house. Figured I would update since I had time for a change :goodvibes.

Love the character spot pics!! I just love the bright colors and backgrounds in there. Too funny Goofy playing with Kailee's hair. :rotfl: Sorry for all the rain...

Oh this was a really good update! I love how ya'll were first and got to meet all the characters at one time. So cool! Pictures like that are hard to come by! Thomas kept a nekkid frog...lol, boys....so funny. I see Kaylee's has on one of everything. :goodvibes It's funny because all the trip reports from this week are missing half of the pictures they would have had in them. :lmao: Can't wait to see how you guys like France. I have an ADR for there in August.

Great update Nichole! Love the pics with all the characters all together. We've got to try and do that one of these days. Sounds like a great day at Epcot so far even with all the rain. We were in MK this day and totally soaked as well.

Thanks :goodvibes. I remember it from your TR, so I made sure to try and get there first. The rain kind of put a damper on our trip.

Love the character photos, wasn't the rain just awful! :headache:

Thanks :goodvibes, yes it was.

It was fun to get all the characters in one picture :). Kaylee dressed her frog. Thomas had a cow when I tried to help him dress his . I guess it's hard to take pics in the rain. We hardly even took the camera out. France will be up tomorrow maybe. Half of us liked it ;).

Thanks :goodvibes . You should try and get to character spot early one morning. We had as much as we could with the rain. How was MK that day as far as crowds?

Great update...it looks like you got a lot done at Epcot!

Great character pics! I liked what Goofy did to Kaylee's hair!! I did TT-single rider-walked right on, thought it was pretty fun. Hopefully next time I can get Avery to do it.
We had also planned to go to BB-rain changed that plan... Next time.
I remember your review of Chef's :rolleyes1

Thanks Mary,
Test track is fun. Single rider line moves so fast. You didn't need to do BB in that rain :goodvibes. Just put it on your next time plans. I will have and update tomorrow.

Great update Nichole. How cool that you got to have your pic with all of the characters! The one of goofy playing with Kaylee's hair is too cute. We made a few detours because of disrespectful children too-I can relate.

The rain defintely kept us from taking more pics. Who wants to wreck a $$$$ camera ya know!?!

We love to play "Where's the Fire?" :firefight

I always come away from Epcot feeling as though we didn't get to spend enough time in Innoventions.

Love the frogs!!!

Kathy

GREAT UPDATE Nichole! I LOVE your and Kaylee's Daisy shirts, I have the same one! Those pictures with all the characters is ADORABLE, it is nice to see them back in their normal clothes and not the YOMD outfits:thumbsup2 Looks like you had a fun morning! We love Test Track too!:goodvibes

Bummer about the rain, but gosh did you get a lot done in Epcot!!! And it's only lunchtime! Wow!

Love the Daisy shirts!;)

LOVE the character spot pics!! I'm writing that on my list for our next trip! I had no idea! Yeah, I didn't get to take as many pics as I wanted due to the rain--no fun.

Thanks :goodvibes, Seems like there were lots of people with no common courtesy at Disney this week. Maybe it was the rain. We missed out on so many things but hopefully well get back next May.

We never have enough time in the any of the pavilions it seems :goodvibes. The kids had fun playing where's the fire.

Thanks :)
We never saw them in their YOAMD's outfits :guilty: That was our first time to character spot though. Your trip is in 4 days . I can't wait to hear all about it! I love the daisy shirts, putting them away for next time.

Thanks :goodvibes, we did get a lot done in Epcot this trip. We didn't take and afternoon break though like we usually do. Since it was rainy we figured they canceled Illuminations anyway, so we left early.

Hi Becky,
That was our first time to character spot. Usually by time we get to Epcot we have already seen Mickey at least a few times, so we never stop in there. We dealt with the rain but it definitely put a damper on the trip for us. Probably because the first day we spent at the resort and the next day we went to a water park instead of Epcot or MK. Next trip we are going to a park everyday. Did you decide on dates yet?

Just read it all. some rough times but ti looks like a great vacation in the making, besides the weather.

Babe Ruth's = disgusting.

SSR looked very pretty but I don;t find any of the DVC's very Disney like. Maybe BLT because it is so close to MK.

Looking forward to more.

Hi Scott :goodvibes
Good to see you over here. I agree 100 %. Babe ruth  . We would love to stay at BLT. I might have to consider renting points for there. Hoping to have and update soon.

DAY 3, Part 2 Epcot

Sorry this has taken me so long to post and update. Life has been hectic as some of you already know that read my Face book page. My dad has been sick and I had to go visit him in NJ for a few days. Also the kids activities (swim dance, playdates, T Ball) have kept me crazy busy. I'm hoping to have a break soon. Okay on to the update :)

By time we walked over to China it was raining pretty hard. they were still going to have the acrobats perform but moved them inside. We still had 25 minutes until the show but decided to go ahead and get seats and wait. Lots of people packed in to get out of the rain. Luckily all nice people. I was very excited to finally see the acrobats :cool1:. They were amazing and if you've never seen then then put them on the list. Here are the pics we took. Thomas and Kaylee were amazed.

When the show was over we went back outside. It was lightly drizzling now. Out front Mulan was out meeting and Kaylee had to see her. We were hoping to see Mushu too but he wasn't out today. Maybe next time. Mulan was very sweet though and even manged to get Thomas to get a picture with her. He doesn't really like Princesses much, he will tolerate the Fairies though usually. he does like Mulan's movie, so that helped.

The kids had started the masks back in mexico but we really didn't really want to stop in every country this trip with the rain. Also the kids asked about Miyuki and she was there today. Her show was starting soon so we started walking to Japan. I thought maybe we would skip this but we love watching her make candy art.

When she came out she told all of the kids they needed to share with their families and pick an animal together. Kaylee and I had seen her make a very cute dragon back in October. She told Thomas all about it in case they got picked. The first kid she picked was Thomas, he was just thrilled! He picked a dragon though his favorite animals are Koala's and small dogs of course. The dragon was a lot less cute than the one we saw on October  but Thomas just wanted to eat it anyway. Kaylee would be lucky if she even got a bite of it later.

Continued......

During Miyuki's show it started to rain again. So we poncho 'd up and headed to Chef's De France for our dinner ADR. This day since it was raining we decided not to take a break or go back and change for dinner. Since we wouldn't be staying for Illuminations most likely anyway. We checked in and waited about 10 minutes to be seated since they weren't even opening until 4:50. I was looking forward to trying this place as it was our first time here. Thomas wanted to see Remy and couldn't wait. I think my husband already had it in his head that he was not going to like the food. Wonder if that opinion changed .

The hostess sat us next to a window but on the side of the restaurant. Would have been nicer to have a better view of Epcot, but oh well. I just wanted my little boy to see Remy.

Disney2009100.jpg

Our waiter ( Boris) apologized for not speaking better English but actually he spoke better English then some people (inlaws) I know that have lived here for 30 years  . He took our drink order and brought us out some yummy bread too. For dinner Tom and I ordered the Filet of beef and Au Gratin potatoes. The kids had chicken over pasta. However just as our food was arriving so was the cart that had our Chef Remy on it :yay:
Honestly this was more important than the food. Remy was just adorable! Thomas wanted to take him home.

After Remy left we dug into our food. It was decent but not great. The steak was pretty good IMO. Tommy wasn't crazy about the taste of it, he said it had a burnt taste. The potatoes were kind of gross. They were nothing like the other restaurants at Disney or near as good as my mom's. the kids thought their food was okay and ate alot of it. The service was excellent though :goodvibes.

Disney2009106.jpg

After dinner we ordered our desserts. All of the waiters and waitresses sang happy Birthday to Thomas in French, very nice of them. I think he was a bit embarrassed but got used to it by the end of the week. Thomas loved his chocolate ice cream.

Kaylee had a chocolate cookie which she says was the best cookie ever!

Disney2009114.jpg

Tommy had some chocolate thing, can't remember what it was though. He said it was just okay.
Disney2009111.jpg

I decided to try the Creme Brulee. It was good but kind of rich, couldn't finish it.
Disney2009112.jpg

I was glad we finally tried Chef's De France. But not sure we would make and ADR there again. The kids and I thought it was okay but Tom thought it was gross and doesn't want to eat there again. there are places in Disney we like wayyy better. If you or your kids are a diehard Ratioulle fan and like the menu then you will be okay.

After dinner it was pouring :headache: again. We had to wear poncho's. As we were putting them on, someone set off the alarm on one of those electric scooters :scared1: it was very loud. We thought it was the fire alarm in the restaurant. Luckily someone finally shut it off. We were pretty tired and decided to skip riding Soarin again and head back to Saratoga Springs for some rest. We waited about 15 minutes for a bus. All of us were looking forward to HS tomorrow and Thomas couldn't wait to see Jedi Training.

Next: Hollywood Studios, would Thomas get picked for Jedi training. I was hoping so after hearing him talk about for 7 months.
