So, Biden has modified his July 4th statement to clarify we may NOT be ready for small family gatherings...I just...I dunno.
That’s all fair and reasonable in a world where we don’t have vaccines. But we do.he may be hedging because cases have stopped dropping in 15 states....they’re increasing. Positivity rate is up in 19 states. Read tHis thread. It is not all negative.... just calling for faster vaccinations and suggesting it’s too early to be opening up as we are in many states...most states at this point. He’s saying just a few weeks could make a difference.
It's even more unfortunate that the President of the United States thinks he has the authority to do so. Grown adults have the right to make decisions on whom they want to associate with, what businesses they want to patronize and what risks they are willing to accept. My risk tolerance may be greater than yours, it may be less than yours, as adults we both should be able to make that choice for ourselves.

Absolutely agreed. And for the record, I’m still referencing Biden’s July 4th comment here. I’m not looking to be okay with small family gatherings. I’m looking to be okay for parades and fireworks. He brought up vaccines....several times. He's just saying....we're plateauing. Some states are going up with respect to cases and positivity rate. Let's let vaccines really kick in for another few *weeks*....before we start opening up. It's really not a big ask....at all. Here in the Northeast they're not sure what is up....but we're stalled for sure. Especially up here in seems silly to rush to open for the next month or so....just get more vaccines in arms. That will likely knock us out of our plateau and we'll see cases go down again.

Let's try to keep this thread about information not egosI can’t help noticing that some of the folks here most concerned about when they might be able to get vaccinated are now getting vaccinated.
Are we plateauing or reaching the bottom of the curve where the rate of going down slows down? The US 7 day average is still decreasing right?
Not at all about egos!!! Okay MOSTLY not about egos!!Let's try to keep this thread about information not egos
It's a joyous occasion when anyone can get vaccinated. I don't care when how or other specifics, just that they were able to get it![]()

seriously, my point is we have direct evidence from the folks here that this is happening much quicker than people think or fear it is.
It appears the country is plateauing. March 17th cases: 62.794. March 10th cases: 61.415.
This is not unexpected.....we're racing against the clock now....vaccines vs. cases. The good news is that the our target population....older folks, and especially nursing home patients are really hitting good numbers with respect to vaccines. Our death count has plummeted. But it's important now, as we move into the younger population....that we really encourage everyone to get vaccinated to prevent a new nasty variant from popping up that could evade vaccines that we currently have in circulation.
I wouldn't call it a true plateau yet either. 7 day moving average is still slowly going down. The closer to zero you get the harder it will be. But deaths are really dropping still and hospitalizations steadily going down.
I'd also note that the "surge" narrative seems to have shifted to a "plateau" narrative.
I just want people to feel comfortable sharing when they can get vaccinated or if they have been vaccinatedNot at all about egos!!! Okay MOSTLY not about egos!!
