Hey fam.
He‘s back!
Any news if you’re going to get the real vaccine any time soon?
The CDC put me next on the list as I’m considered a “Frontline Essential Worker,” so I’m pretty excited.

I just hope the J & J vaccine will be as good as the two we currently have. I think they will be done with phase 3 by end of January. So far it looks promising. Fingers crossed.
How many different vaccines are showing promise besides Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna? I thought that the Astra Zeneca/Oxford vaccine was showing some promise.
Eventually this might be like vaccines with multiple versions that are all considered acceptable. When I got my dog vaccinated for rabies, the animal license form has boxes for at least a half dozen different approved rabies vaccines. It was a requirement that the particular vaccine be identified.

I was thinking about that too. There might be the possibility that the antibodies produced are slightly different. Heck - in the future it might get to the point where there's enough production that everyone who can will get a combination of these if each one might afford slightly different protection - kind of like how "drug cocktails" have proven to be more effective than single drugs.I was wondering what happens with the second dose. If you get Pfizer, you have to get the same brand for your second dose, but what if the place you go has another brand in stock when it's time for the booster? I thought J & J were next up, but maybe not. They are supposed to be good because it is one dose, it's cheap to make, does not require the deep freeze storage, and it's very effective.
JnJ definitely next if they get EUA.I was wondering what happens with the second dose. With the new Pfizer deal, the US has secured 1 billion doses of vaccines (some of which have not yet received EUA).
When will the new Pfizer doses be coming? 2nd quarter?
I know there will be bumps in the road, but I for one am looking forward to whenever they get these vaccines out to the general community. Only 556K people were vaccinated in the first week. I think the estimate was that there was going to be 45 million doses available to vaccinate 22.5 million people by the end of this year. I'm not sure how we reach that milestone at the current pace.
HUGE caveat on that number- more than half the states just haven’t reported any numbers yet. It’s likely far higher.
Ok, didn't see that. That's the number from the C.D.C.
Here's a great link from the NYT...that number is also probably 3 days old, as this one is two days old. They do update it though if you refresh every day or so.

I'm sure they don't expect to keep that pace for long. They're just ramping up.When will the new Pfizer doses be coming? 2nd quarter?

Thanks...I'll check it out. I wish we could see up to the minute kind of "daily" reports of actual vaccinations, like we do for cases, hospitalizations and deaths. Or that Johns Hopkins, The Covid Tracking Project...etc, would add that new category to their covid sites. The citizens of this nation sure could use some good news.
