Cass & Rob do Vegas, Disney style! :) Trip Report with pics!

I am also a "label cutter-outer":rolleyes1 I too have cut holes in many garments in my attempts to remove the offending (and really itchy) labels:rolleyes:

Way to go Old Navy:woohoo:

Another great update Cass:thumbsup2

And no need to zzzzzztttttt anybody today! (although I bet you wished you'd used your "powers" on the person who cooked that burger:lmao:)

Great update Cass. Too bad about the cheesecake. It could be completely melted on my plate and I'd just slurp it up anyway.

And whatever happened to all those cheap eats I'm always hearing about in Vegas??

Looks like you had a day that would suit me just fine. I'd love all that shopping.

I think you can still get some deals downtown but I don't like being downtown :crazy2:

Those cars belong to Criss Angel! Great report so far! I was there on the 18th!

Oh wow, really? Good to know!

OMGosh, I can't believe you wrote that! There HAS to be a moderator around to put that into your signature!

ROFL!!!!
I'm still laughing about reading that!
BTW: Great job on the report love!
Cass didn't mention, but we seen this one store with Faberge eggs and I was so terrified of even looking into it, especially when you can imagine yourself sneezing suddenly (ask Cass) and see over $100k in damages in less than 1 second.
Yup, I stayed far away from that entrance.

I think I had good food on day 3 though...

Ahhh yes, the potential sneezing fiasco!

I think it was the next day at the Venetian ;) BTW, it takes a dork to love a dork babe :lovestruc

Great report. Makes me want to go again. Especially w/fares less than $225.

Nice airfares! We paid $475 each for ours! :scared1:

Well, it isn't DISNEY, but it's still a Cass trip report! Nice to see you again! I've never been to Vegas and not sure if we ever will but it is fun reading about it. Our family (dh, ds13 & dd9) also love the Cirque shows and saw La Nouba in August in Orlando and just saw Kooza in Boston last weekend! Now that the kids are older we have graduated from the ice shows and Elmo shows and have been trying new things. Its' been a fun trip! Looking forward to reading more.

Jill

P.S. Do you have a Disney trip planned??

Thanks fore reading Jill :goodvibes Well, right now we are planning to do a Disney cruise next October, exactly one year from today, in fact and then maybe a week before the cruise in WDW but the way things are going right now we may have to change that. I am really hoping that we can swing it all cus we are cruising with a great bunch of people but it depends on what happens in the next 6-7 months :scared:

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad I found your thread!!! I'm only on page one, but already I'm soooooo wishing our trips could have overlaped. I would have loved to have seen you guys there. Can't wait to continue reading. Consider me hooked!!!!

That would have been so cool to run into you guys down there! :thumbsup2

: there Cass.

I just wanted to pop in and say I LOVED your vegas trip report. Excellent, as always.

Thanks
Go habs go!

Excellent updates Cass and wowweeeeeeeee .... I think I need to look at my in-box for offers from Mandalay Bay because that's a steal!

BTW ... I saw the hot roast beef smoothie comment! You're the second person to mention that in the last week. :
And I'm so glad you enjoyed the Burger Bar even though the burger upset your tummy later that night. Jay and I really enjoyed our meal there and would go back in a heartbeat ... and I thought the Kobe Beef Burger was awesome, too! YUM!!

Looking forward to reading more! :

PS ... Mother Goose, you can't eat cheap in Vegas anymore unless you go off the strip. It's become a dining destination which is the reason your favorite gastropods ate themselves silly there last April.

Thanks for reading Bendy :goodvibes I don't think the roast beef smoothie thing will ever get old :rolleyes1

It was my fault about the burger, I should have taken a better look at it and seen how much pink was in there cus it was SUPER delicious

Cool report, thanks so much for sharing!

Thanks :goodvibes

Cass love great update, however every time i read one i can't help bursting out laughing just wondering what it would be like to own an "All you can eat $9.99 buffet" and seeing Jeff,Brenda,Jason and Rob could waltzing in,I have now added Rob to my ever growing list of "No likey people" due to the fact it would appear he too can eat a small town without ever having to suffer the consequences...:snooty: .....:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

ps..."Although the day started out kinda crappy".....:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Too much? :rolleyes2

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

You only laugh because you know it's true!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

I'm following along.
DH and I went on our first trip to Vegas a couple of weeks ago. We were there the first week of October but for only 4 days. We didn't get to see nearly everything we wanted to see.
BTW, I was a huge Donny Osmond fan when I was younger. We went to the Donny and Marie show at the Flamingo. DH surprised me with VIP tickets. We had front row seats and were able to have a meet and greet with them after the show. It was great! Yes, I thought the huge picture on the hotel outside was a bit much; he even said that on the stage at the show.

LOL, well at least he can laugh at himself! :goodvibes

YAY!! Another Cass and Rob trip report!!!

Happy belated anniversary and early Happy Birthday to Kira.

Keep these reports coming, love em!

Cynde

Thanks Cynde

Cass, I love your trip reports!! =)

Thanks, glad you could join us :goodvibes

I am also a "label cutter-outer":rolleyes1 I too have cut holes in many garments in my attempts to remove the offending (and really itchy) labels:rolleyes:

Good to know that I am not the only anti-label girl :woohoo: Sometimes Rob and I end up getting the same Disney shirts and then we do laundry, he's like which one is yours and which one is mine??? Hmm easy, mine has no tag :lmao:

Oh and Karen, there's ALWAYS someone in need of a good zzzzzzztttttttttt ::yes::

Great TR as always, Cass!!!! They are always fun, always feel like on them there with you guys. Nice to see you and Rob again.

What, no bathroom pictures from all the resorts??? :teeth:

This is a great trip report! We were just in Vegas last month and stayed at the Mirage. We ate at the Cheescake Factory too (I love their cheesecakes and luckily we have one near us)!

Thanks for the pictures, they're great!!!!

Oooooh, Chili's corn on the cob??? Over here it's deep-fried and ever so yummy. (I can say yummy here because it's not Brenda's TR). :goodvibes

Can I join the label-cutter-outer club too Cass? Count me in. My reason is probably just so I don't have to see what size it actually is though.

Still waiting to hear how you faired on slot machine "11/23".

Oh my and after spending so much on a burger, you're then ill. Glad you're better.

Good to hear from you Dan  I think my bathroom picture days are over :rolleyes1 :lmao: Actually I think I only found 1 bathroom that was actually deserving of a photo and that was at the Venetian I believe (or was it the Palazzo? They are very similar ;))

I wish I was hungry when we were there because their menu looked good. ::yes::

Deep fried corn??? :crazy2: Rob's a veggie guy and he didn't get too many veggies on this trip so he was happy to get that corn :woohoo:

I didn't fare so well on the slots and there certainly wasn't 11 rows and 23 machines anywhere...so when I was at the MB, I counted 11 total rows while I was roaming and then walked past 22 machines and put $20 in the 23rd machine. I lost it in about 3 minutes :scared:

Great trip report! We went to Vegas last year for a wedding and stayed at Luxor. They had Deal or No Deal slots and we won so much on the slots that we ended up making money on the trip. Our room was comped and we had a couple of meals comped to.

best wedding we ever went to - lol :rotfl:

Maybe next time I go with you :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Cass: I love you and your trip reports (and your website).
But do you eat anything besides burgers? :-)

Hey! I never outlawed the use of the word yummy. Go back and read the Rulz ... Jasper doesn't paddle people for using that word! :lmao:

Aversion to the word yummy is so Hungry are the the Damned!

I was just gonna say that I have used that word on your thread many times now and I haven't been spanked once! :rotfl2:

Lovin' the trippie, Cass. Took my first trip to Vegas last month - a short 4-day venture, "doing Vegas the cheap way" as much as possible. I do want to go back and you're giving me some great ideas on things to see and do!

Happy Anniversary!

Day 4 October 16th, 2008

Up again at 7 AM! I tried to go back to sleep but I just couldn’t! :sad2:

This morning’s plans included breakfast at Rainforest Café at MGM so once again we drove over and used the valet.

I snapped a pic of NYNY, at least I wasn’t driving
IMG_2542.jpg

Here’s where we were going
IMG_2544.jpg

And once again they opened my door.:lovestruc

Classy.

I’m starting to like MGM more and more. Last time we were here I found it overwhelmingly big. But after this trip, I’ve decided that I would definitely stay here in the future. The smoke in the casino was hardly even noticeable, food was good, staff was friendly and it’s the only casino where I had some luck on a slot machine. I didn’t really win (came out even, maybe a few bucks up) but at least I didn’t lose it all in a matter of minutes like every other casino. Plus not only they did have $5 blackjack tables that weren’t busy but they had NON-SMOKING $5 dollar blackjack tables! Unfortunately I never got to play blackjack here but I think it would have been a good experience.

Me likey here ::yes::

IMG_2548.jpg

Buried in the back of the casino...it’s a jungle in there!
IMG_2560.jpg

We found the RFC and we were seated immediately. The menu was a little different from the ones in WDW, they didn’t offer the fruit plate but they did have the Breakfast of Bandits, which is what I usually order. Rob settled on the waffle, he likes him some waffles like I like me some burgers.

I had asked for a side of white toast but when my food came, they had given me wheat toast and it was hard and gross so I asked for some white toast to be brought out. It took almost 10 minutes to finally get my toast and I was almost done my meal by that time. Of course it came unbuttered so it was dry and yucky. The eggs were half decent, the bacon was good and the potatoes were really good. This is the only time I ever complained that there wasn’t enough food. Usually the portions are plentiful and I could never finish my meal but I ate every speck of food on my plate and was looking for more. Rob really enjoyed his coffee, he’s been having bad luck with coffee this trip and he enjoyed his meal so he was really happy.

I think it was about $40 + tip but I can’t find the receipt.

Very similar to all other RFC’s
IMG_2549.jpg

Hmmm no burgers here??? :rolleyes1

I think he was missing Disney World :lmao:
IMG_2562.jpg

It was 10:20 AM by the time we were finished and we wanted to wait till the Lion Habitat opened at 11 AM so we decided to play some slots. We found some Price is Right Cliffhanger slots right by the Lions and both put in $20 each. These were fun!! :woohoo: We both kept hitting the bonus round (Come on down!!!) and I think we ended up playing for about an hour and cashing out with about $60 each. Finally we had some fun gambling!!!

The only half decent shot I got…cool though eh?
IMG_2569.jpg

He was playing with a ball his trainer was throwing to him LOL!
IMG_2570.jpg

This guy was too lazy to actually get UP and play LOL!
IMG_2571.jpg

Continued in the next post...

We watched the lions play for a bit and then went in search for a Walmart. I had printed off the address so we found it easily enough but I didn’t find what I came here for.

Airplanes and Walmart, how cool!
IMG_2572.jpg

My sister had asked me to pick her up some Taco Bell hot sauce. We ended up driving around for about 2 hours stopping at several grocery stores on the way. We finally found it at a Von’s on Tropicana. I bought out their stock, 6 bottles and then drove to Paris. The casino, of course, not the city. :artist:

Cross the border
IMG_2620.jpg

I thought the check-in area was gorgeous!! I loved the lighting in here!

IMG_2575.jpg

We were in search of some food and guess what we found?? Another burger bar! Le Burger Brasserie!

I felt sorry for the waitresses here having to wear those ******** outfits!
IMG_2577.jpg

Apparently their clientele consists mainly of giants because the cutlery was ridiculously HUGE!
IMG_2578.jpg

This was more like a sports bar but I had read that they had some good food here. We ordered the Kobe beef burgers and this time I made sure that there was no pink in my burger!

You can tell this one was Rob’s with all that fruit!
IMG_2580.jpg

I am off my diet regimen for a whole week, there’s no way I am getting fruit with MY burger
IMG_2581.jpg

I was laughing at Rob’s burger, wondering how the heck he’s going to get that in his mouth! :rolleyes2
IMG_2582.jpg

But somehow, he managed it!
IMG_2584.jpg

Look, no pink!

IMG_2585.jpg

The burger was good. I think it would have been much better had it not been cooked so much but I wasn’t taking my chances this time! And the only mustard they had was Dijon and it had a bit of a kick to it that I didn’t enjoy too much.

The fries? Oh Mon Dieu!!! (sorry but we ARE in Paris! ) Those fries were tres magnifique!!!!!!!!! Apart from the fries you get in Montreal (Je T’aime Lafleur!!!) they were the BEST pommes frites this girl has ever tasted!!!!!

The bill was $59 + tip :scared1: Sacre bleu! But I didn’t mind, it was a really good meal!

Continued in the next post...

Figuring we should walk off some of those burger calories, we made the bone-headed decision to walk to the Venetian. It was really hot and crowded and much further than we had anticipated.

We made use of every single opportunity to NOT actually move our feet :faint:
IMG_2586.jpg

It seemed like an eternity before we arrived at our destination. I thought I was going to really love this place…yeah, not-so-much.

IMG_2591.jpg

IMG_2592.jpg

IMG_2598.jpg

Every time I pull out the camera, he makes this face! Does he not KNOW me by now LOL!
IMG_2595.jpg

Oh look, more non-walking :cloud9:

IMG_2597.jpg

The check-in area was pretty
IMG_2605.jpg

IMG_2602.jpg

We walked over to the Palazzo and on the way we found Delmonico’s, where we had dinner reservations for our anniversary tomorrow night.

Time for Rob to sell his kidney!
IMG_2613.jpg

I love me some waterfalls ::yes::
IMG_2606.jpg

Continued in the next post...

Back to the Venetian and upstairs to the Grand Canal shops. This is where I had forbid Rob to go into a store. It was a very expensive store filled to the brim with knick knacks and statues and ornaments. It looked like you could barely move around in that store it was so packed full of crap. Well, expensive crap!

He will deny it completely but Rob is rather accident-prone. He doesn’t like to admit that he’s clumsy but he is. He reminds me of a certain character from the Sunday comics (whose name escapes me right now) who always seems to get himself into these absurd situations that just keep escalating.

So when he exclaimed “Hey! Faberge Eggs!” I forbade him to go inside! I can just see it now… admiring the 50K dollar eggs as a sneeze sneaks up on him. Now, if you have ever seen and heard Rob sneeze, then you would understand. When Rob sneezes, the whole earth shakes. People jump, hearts skip a beat, he’s not a subtle sneezer.

So carrying on past the knick knack store, we came across a familiar sight.

We’ve been to Disney, the jig is up buddy!
IMG_2615.jpg

Living statues! So this is where they have been hiding! We’ve missed you!!

Somehow we made it back to Paris where we started and Rob was feeling a little peckish again!

He’s a sucker for baked goods so when we passed Le Notre bakery, he couldn’t resist.

We shared a water and a chocolate croissant, which looked good but was actually rather disgusting!

Sorry, he started eating it before I could take a picture.
IMG_2617.jpg

We were in need of a break so we went back to our room and watched some more Indy on the laptop. I’m pretty sure we even took a nice little nap too!

Decided that this was a good night to ride the Manhattan Express coaster and walked over to the NYNY.

Night time is what Vegas is all about! Gorgeous!

IMG_2624.jpg

IMG_2625.jpg

IMG_2628.jpg

IMG_2629.jpg

We waited about 15 minutes so we could ride the front row and then off we went! The last time we rode this baby, we were wearing a tux and a wedding dress!

It wasn’t as fun and exciting as we remember and there were times when I thought my neck was going to snap off and tumbled down onto the strip.

I told my sister this when we got back and she said that she thinks WE aren’t as fun and exciting as we remember LOL! Good point, we are old and cranky now!

Once was enough for us so we walked across the strip and found ourselves back at MGM. Told ya we spent a lot of time there! We hadn’t had dinner so we went to the Studio Café in search of some more fuel.

Nothing really appealed to me on the menu. I decided to order the chicken quesadilla but that ended up being a huge mistake! The chicken tasted more like a spicy pork and I don’t do spicy anything so I had a few bites and that’s it. Rob on the other hand was in heaven! He ordered the seasonal berry dish and used his cream from his coffee and some honey to make himself a fruit salad LOL!

You should have seen his face when he took his first bite! LOL! He said it was sooooo good, all the while doing a little jig in his seat.

The waitress notice that I had hardly touch my food so she took it off our bill, which was really nice and she was rewarded with a very nice tip!

IMG_2631.jpg

He looks happy doesn’t he?

IMG_2632.jpg

I think we may have played some more Price is Right before we left MGM but I don’t think we won.

Neither of us wanted to return to the Excalibur so we decided to walk back to the Luxor in the fresh air, good choice!

I think we watched some more Indy and then crashed for the night.
