Cass & Rob do Vegas, Disney style! :) Trip Report with pics!

You are such a cute couple, I have been enjoying your trip report. Vegas looks like a great place.

Great trip report so far Cass! :)

My sister and I really like the Hard Rock as well. We really like the one in Chicago since its across the street from the hotel we like. I think when we went in January they sang to my sister for her birthday, but I can't really remember now.

Loving your trip report! We love Vegas. Got married at Mandalay Bay last year. :)

I also enjoyed a Kobe burger at Burger Bar. Loved the sweet potato fries!!!

We've stayed at The Hotel @Mandalay Luxor and Mandalay. I enjoy that area. But then again, we always rent a car.

Thanks for reading it Karen :goodvibes They need those moving sidewalks at WDW, don't ya think? ;) ::yes::

Excellent idea:lmao:

Cass - that foot slapping guy would have had my foot up his **S if he'd have done that to me:scared1: - what a cheek!

Loving your photos.... you really scrub up well in all your purty stuff:goodvibes

Day 5, October 17th 2008

Today was the whole reason we planned a trip to Vegas. Today was our tenth wedding anniversary! Wow, 10 years already! That went fast. We’re both pretty proud of our marriage. While it’s not perfect, we’ve worked really hard to make it a really good one. We’ve had our moments where we’ve wanted to choke each other for a few brief moments, but those moments pass quickly and they are few and far between.

We both feel extremely lucky to have found each other and we say it every day! Yup, every single day! Not a day goes by in our life that we don’t tell the other person how much they are loved and needed and appreciated and desired and wanted.

There’s nothing in this harsh and cruel world that you can’t get through if you know that there is someone who feels that way about you and shows it to you every day!

While we are truly black and white when it comes down to our views and opinions, deep down, Rob and I are soul mates. We are made from the same cloth and even though we have our challenges and tough times ahead, we both know that we will be together forever. Toujours. That word is inscribed on the inside of our wedding bands. It means Forever.

Not mushy at all, Cass. A great way of putting how you feel about one another.

We got the car and drove over to Bellagio. We had to get there early to pick up our tickets to “O” but we got there really early so we decided to go outside and watch the fountains for awhile. The fountains are the only part of Bellagio that I don’t hate. ;)

Well, that’s not entirely true. I have to give it a shout out because one of my favourite movies, Ocean’s 11 (the remake of course) was filmed there. But the fact that they took the Bellagio for all it’s worth was the best part of that movie LOL!!! :cool1:

Sorry but I have had nothing but bad experiences there. :crazy2:

The one that sticks out the most (and still bugs me to this day!) was on my first visit there 10 years ago. They used to have these big comfy chairs right near the entrance in front of the check-in area. We had been walking all day and my feet were killing me! (This was before Crocs  ) We had sat down on those chairs to rest for a few minutes and I put my foot up a little. It wasn’t ON the chair, my calf was on the chair with my foot hanging off a little. Well a Bellagio bellman came along and said really rudely “This isn’t a mall missy!” and smacked my foot really hard! So hard that my foot came crashing down to the ground, twisting my ankle! :headache:

Ok, so I can kind of understand that he might be a little upset that my leg was up (but really, it wasn’t that bad, I wasn’t laying on the chair with my feet up or anything!) but he could have had the decency to politely ask me to remove my leg!! And I would have done so. There was absolutely NO NEED at all for physical violence here!. Basty Nastard!!!

So after being physically assaulted during my very first visit to this upper-crust(y) establishment, it had soured me to open myself up to enjoy anything else that this hotel may have offered.

So after getting our tickets we got out of there as fast as we could! We strolled around the lake and watched 3 or 4 fountain shows. We were just enjoying the scenery and the company, it was really quite nice actually.

Eventually it was time go back in and head to the theatre. We found our seats (first row of the upper section) which were awesome and then just admired the theatre while everyone else herded into the theatre with 5 minutes to spare!

The only thing I asked the guy was to get us and the O in the picture :rolleyes1

We got there early and got bored LOL!

While we were watching everyone find their seats, I spotted a woman coming up the stairs. I remember thinking to myself that she looked a LOT like Suzanne Somers. Well her and her party ended up sitting exactly two rows behind us and as soon as she started talking, I knew it WAS her!

I told Rob that Suzanne Somers was sitting behind us and he just laughed at me! He didn’t believe me! :snooty:
He said “We have better seats than Suzanne Somers? Right!” Hahaha:lmao:

Then some of the ushers started mumbling to each other and pointing in her direction and acting all star struck, and he started to think I might be right LOL!

I told him that we can stick around after the show and see her! popcorn::

Oh yeah, the show…

Hmmm it was ok. A little too freaky for our liking. It had some cool stuff in it but I liked Le Reve better. I guess it didn’t help that the theatre was freezing!! I am very rarely cold and it’s usually when I am sick or really, really tired but this place was freezing. I was sitting right next to the wall where people entered the theatre and there must have been A/C right there because I felt the wall and it was really cold! :cold:

I was glad when the show was finally over and was able to warm up!

We waited till the crowd dispersed (Suzanne Somers included!) and then picked up our car at the valet. This was by far the longest we waited for our car!

Back to our hotel, into comfy clothes and I got to snack on the rest of those incredible chips from dinner that I had asked for a doggie bag for! They were just as good 6 hours later! We watched some more Indy and then enjoyed our last sleep in that heavenly bed!:cloud9:

Almost done!
Next up is our final day and travel day home!

A really great day. Thanks for sharing and happy anniversary again Cass and Rob.

You guys sure packed a lot in!! Your report is making me want to go back. Mandalay Bay would probably be my hotel of choice too.

FYI - the NYNY rollercoaster made me nauseaus and I totally got the whipplash thing!! LOL Teenagers around me immediately went on again, while I went to sit down with a cold drink..... I think we're used to the smooth rides in Disney.....nothing to do with age..........;)

Happy 10th anniversary Cass and Rob! Thanks for sharing your trip report with us! The pictures are great and you guys looked fab on your anniversary night out! Hugs to a very nice couple! :goodvibes

Deep fried corn??? :crazy2: Rob's a veggie guy and he didn't get too many veggies on this trip so he was happy to get that corn :woohoo:

I didn't fare so well on the slots and there certainly wasn't 11 rows and 23 machines anywhere...so when I was at the MB, I counted 11 total rows while I was roaming and then walked past 22 machines and put $20 in the 23rd machine. I lost it in about 3 minutes :scared:

Sorry to hear those numbers didn't bring you any casino luck but at least you know it brought you the best luck of all....Kira. :)

Okay, enough with the mushy stuff already

From one dork to another, you said it babe! You're the best and I love ya!
'nuff said

Cass, what a coincidence, guess where we went today?? We celebrated our DS's16 Confirmation at the Boston Hard Rock Cafe! Isn't that funny?! It was great, he's such a musician so he loves this place. Loving your report, and pulling my DH over to the computer every night to see the pics, since he was just there last week. He's like, ya, I was there and "right over there" is such and such...so fun. His favorite part of MGM was going to see those lions. He went every single day to see them and hear the trainers with them. It would have been so much fun to have experienced it with him, maybe someday. If I can ever pull myself away from DW. Did you hear that my oldest son (20) is doing the college program there in January (till May)?! He'll be in "attractions". How cool is that. Hey, I hate to see this report end, love you guys!

Cool, never been to that HRC :thumbsup2 Those lions were pretty cool! I hope they have a much bigger space hidden from us to roam though cus it was a little small :rolleyes1

Wow, congrats to your son!!! :woohoo: Are you gonna go visit when he's there???? ;)

You are such a cute couple, I have been enjoying your trip report. Vegas looks like a great place.

Thanks for reading :goodvibes It's a very cool place to visit ::yes::

I'm glad I'm not the only who felt that way!! ::yes:: And thanks, I don't get all purty too often :lmao:

Not mushy at all, Cass. A great way of putting how you feel about one another.

I'm sure a few people were spitting up in their own mouths :lmao: But thanks, we're pretty luck to have each other and Kira :lovestruc

I just got yet another email from MB for nights at $89!!!

Ditto!! :lovestruc

Beautiful pics Cass. Loved them all. :thumbsup2 That one reminded me of the chandelier on the Magic.

Those burgers looked amazing and I see you were able to find a PB torte. Was it anything like the one on the ship?

And BTW...I can probably give Rob a run for his money on those loud sneezes. :cool1: :rotfl2:

Yup, the same guy sculpted the chandelier in the atrium of both Disney ships , good eye Nanc :thumbsup2

I was all excited when I saw the peanut butter dessert on the menu but it wasn't very good. :crazy2: I can't wait to have the one on the ship again ::yes:: :woohoo:

Sorry, we went out tonight and didn't have a chance to update the report with our last day. I will try to get it done tomorrow :thumbsup2

I thought the same thing when I saw that chandelier. Diane

Enjoying this report. And that Hard Rock, brought back memories. We loved the one in Vegas. And have been to a couple to. I remember in Vegas, though, so loud....:goodvibes I felt bad for an older lady there with her family. ;)And this was the place for a great burger!

Where are all the pics of you guys hitting jackpots on slot machines???? I mean your in vegas, did'nt you guys do any gambling??
btw this has got to be in the top 5 of my favorite trip reports, and it's not even a Wdw trip report.

I don't know if it is still the same as 1999 but you weren't allowed to have a camera on the floor due to security reasons. When we were there we saw a man camera taken from him. :)

Those chips look so delicious!! But I am the Carb Queen so anything with potatoes or pasta and I'm there!!!:lmao: My family knows not to tell when its my birthday too. One time when I was a teenager my friends and I were eating at a restaurant and they told the waitress it was my birthday. I got so flustered that I wanted to get out and go to the bathroom and my friends wouldn't let me, so I climbed under the table to get out and they ended up singing to the wrong person. :lmao: I don't think I'd be quite that dramatic today, but if I were at the Hard Rock and the whole restaurant would start singing, I might!!! :upsidedow
