Cass & Rob do Vegas, Disney style! :) Trip Report with pics!

Did you like their cheesecake? It was good, just a little too creamy-soft for my liking.

Yes...love them. Some of them are a bit harder than others. The best I had so far is when we were in New York and had cheesecake from Juniors in Grand Central Station

Welcome to the club! :woohoo:
Hi, I'm Cass and I'm a dork. ::yes::

It's not Disney but we always manage to have some Disney fun! Rob got to Vegas and was unpacking and he said "I think all I brought are Disney shirts"

I said "Soooo?"

:lmao: :rotfl2:

Thanks for the warm welcome!!
That's so funny, I was looking at the pics and saw Rob was wearing lots of Disney stuff! I do that all the time too, my new favorite is my Soarin' shirt!! Unfortunately my husband isn't game for that all the time, (I usually have to beg him to wear them at Disney). He tries to act like he doesn't like Disney:confused3 however one day recently he said and I quote, "I'll deny saying it later, but I really do love Disney World!"That's some progress atleast! I can't believe how expensive food is in Vegas! I will have to keep that in my mind when we plan a trip there.

I just love going to Vegas. We stayed a couple of nights at the Wynn and then at Harrah's 10/8 to 10/12. All were comp'd if you can believe that - and no we are not big gamblers.

Love your trip report and agree that the food at the Wynn was not that great. We ordered the nachos and a piece of cheese cake at the Wynn deli one night and it was $27 - with no drinks:scared1:

We learned a couple of things to do - eat at Burger King or a chain type restaurant when we can and never drive down the strip if we can help it. There are a couple of good roads behind MGM that give you direct access to the parking at the different casinos so you can avoid the crazy traffic on the strip. Oh and we always use the valet parking. I usually tip $2 to $3 when I pick up the car.

Wow, comped is nice ::yes:: :cloud9:

After a few days, we decided to use those back roads behind MGM but every dang side road up has construction on it! :headache: We used Harmon and 2 others I can't remember and we just got delayed so we just kept using the Strip. Thankfully the only really bad traffic day was that first day going to the Wynn. Every other time was manageable.

Oh and I LOVE me some valet!!! ::yes:: :rolleyes1 Especially in heels  Actually, the North Valet at Luxor was awesome because it was just around the corner from the East Tower elevators :thumbsup2 Rob kept saying all week..."I've never used valet so much in my life!" :lmao:

Yes...love them. Some of them are a bit harder than others. The best I had so far is when we were in New York and had cheesecake from Juniors in Grand Central Station

Hmmm, I think my favourite cheescake is the Amaretto Cheesecake on the Magic :lovestruc

Thanks for the warm welcome!!

Yeah, Rob was sooo made for me ::yes:: The night I met him, (the hypnotist night) he was wearing a Tigger t-shirt, a Tigger hat and a Disney Gang Jean Jacket  :lovestruc :woohoo:

Hi Cass:goodvibes

I'm loving this report:yay:

Wheres day 3 then:hyper:

Make it quick or Zzzzzzzzzzzztttttttt:lmao:

LOL, I love it Karen!!!!!!!! :goodvibes

I will work on day 3 tonight after the princess goes to bed :thumbsup2 Should be up by the time you wake up tomorrow morning :goodvibes

Great update Cass. Too bad about the cheesecake. It could be completely melted on my plate and I'd just slurp it up anyway.

And whatever happened to all those cheap eats I'm always hearing about in Vegas??

Looks like you had a day that would suit me just fine. I'd love all that shopping. :thumbsup2

Speaking of cars, Vegas is definitely the place to see some cool cars! At the Luxor North valet, there was always 3 cars there covered up. You could tell that one of them was a Bentley, one of them was a Lamborghini and I can't remember what the other one was. But there they sat, the whole week, in the valet all covered up! One night as we were picking up our car, the Lamburghini was not covered up, Rob got all excited and took a pic of it

Those cars belong to Criss Angel! Great report so far! I was there on the 18th!

Welcome to the club! :woohoo:
Hi, I'm Cass and I'm a dork. ::yes::

OMGosh, I can't believe you wrote that! There HAS to be a moderator around to put that into your signature!

ROFL!!!!
I'm still laughing about reading that!
BTW: Great job on the report love!
Cass didn't mention, but we seen this one store with Faberge eggs and I was so terrified of even looking into it, especially when you can imagine yourself sneezing suddenly (ask Cass) and see over $100k in damages in less than 1 second.
Yup, I stayed far away from that entrance.

I think I had good food on day 3 though...

Great report. Makes me want to go again. Especially w/fares less than $225.:cool1:

Well, it isn't DISNEY, but it's still a Cass trip report! :cool1: Nice to see you again! I've never been to Vegas and not sure if we ever will but it is fun reading about it. Our family (dh, ds13 & dd9) also love the Cirque shows and saw La Nouba in August in Orlando and just saw Kooza in Boston last weekend! Now that the kids are older we have graduated from the ice shows and Elmo shows and have been trying new things. Its' been a fun trip! Looking forward to reading more.

Jill

P.S. Do you have a Disney trip planned??

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad I found your thread!!! I'm only on page one, but already I'm soooooo wishing our trips could have overlaped. I would have loved to have seen you guys there. Can't wait to continue reading. Consider me hooked!!!!

:wave2: there Cass.

I just wanted to pop in and say I LOVED your vegas trip report. Excellent, as always. :goodvibes

Day Three October 15th, 2008

I only got a few hours of sleep that night. I was up at 5AM feeling the after effects of that way-too-pink burger. :scared: I am not gonna go into details, let’s just say I spent a whole lotta time in that lovely bathroom this morning. :rolleyes1

A little observation…while sitting on the potty (as my girl calls it) I had the opportunity to make some calls. Yes, there was a telephone right next to the toilet! :rolleyes2 Why anyone would need to make a call at that particular point in time is beyond me. I’m sure my friends and family (and perhaps even the front desk) are thankful that I chose not to take advantage of the nearby amenity and decided not make any calls that morning.

Our original plans called for driving to Paris to have breakfast at Le Village but I was not feeling up to it at all. We decided to stick close to home and just have breakfast again at the Pyramid Café.

Babe in a booth! Look, it's slanted just like the pyramid! woooooo :upsidedow

Rob enjoyed my eggs yesterday (I usually only eat half my food and then he gets the rest, although from the look of us, you would think it was the other way around LOL!) so he ordered some eggs and bacon with pancakes. I had a repeat of yesterday except I substituted bacon for the ham this time.

The eggs were not as good as the last time, the hashbrowns were half decent and the bacon was delish!

IMG_2527.jpg

We were still planning on going to Paris to explore but the effects of that burger were still lingering and we ended up just going back to the room for while. I think I passed out on the bed for a good hour or so.:faint:

Instead of exploring the resorts after my snooze, we decided to stick close to home, so to speak and do a little bit more shopping. I had wanted to go to The Old Navy outlet and it was only a few minutes from us on the south strip.

Old Navy is one of my favourite stores! :lovestruc I love their clothing because it’s relatively cheap but it’s also really comfy and they don’t use tags on the inside of their clothes! :hyper: If you go through my closet, you won’t find any tags on anything because I have ripped them all out. Unfortunately, most places imbed their tags so well that I end up tearing the clothes even when I am careful when removing them. Old Navy prints their tags on the inside so no tags to rip out! Love it!! I found me some comfy sweats and a few other items and we also found a few things for Kira. Score!

As we were driving out of the parking lot, Rob exclaimed “Fry’s!”

No, he didn’t feel like stopping at McDonald’s, he spotted a gigantic electronics store that his boss always talks about. So we stopped and did some more shopping.

Oh look! Felectronics Fry's!!
:lmao:
IMG_2528.jpg

Fry’s is an electronic engineer’s dream store. Rob was drooling! :cloud9:

We both headed for the rows and rows and rows of movies. We’re both huge movie lovers! One of the biggest things we have in common. Indiana Jones 4 had just come out so Rob picked up the Blu-Ray version of that and I picked up a Wiggles movie (a newer one with Sam…Kira LOVES Sam!) and then we explored for about an hour.

Next up was the south Las Vegas outlets in search of some Reeboks for Rob. He was just not having any luck with shoes this trip. No Reeboks for him. :sad2:

Continued in next post....

Another reason we went there was to peek at the Disney Character Warehouse! :earboy2:

I look like a billboard cut out here :lmao:
IMG_2529.jpg

They have the same kind of store in Orlando where they sell park merchandise (they sell Disneyland stuff at this one) for a so-called bargain price. It’s really hit or miss at both these stores but I was still in my happy place with Disney stuff! :earsboy:

I found a nice Grumpy Sweatshirt (that I use for a fall jacket LOL!) for $30 so I was happy! :yay:

There was a Chili’s in the strip mall so we decided to eat there. It was a good choice, good food at a decent price!

Rob had the chipotle chicken tenders (too spicy for him but I did warn him!) and I had…

…any guesses??

I know! I am so predictable, right?

I had the cheeseburger!

Not as good as the Kobe burger but it was good and there was no pink in the middle!

Lunch was $26 plus tip, not too shabby at all!

Rob loved the corn so much that he ordered a second one!

IMG_2531.jpg

Back to the hotel to veg out again. I was starting to feel human again but I was in no condition to dress up and wear heels tonight to see Mystere.

I had a nice skirt and blouse I was going to wear but after seeing that only a very small percentage of people who attended the shows actually dressed up, I figured I wouldn’t stick out too much in some black pants and a t-shirt. Plus my feet were begging me to put those Uggs on LOL!

We found that most people wore shorts/jeans and a tee to the shows, which sounded very tempting to us that night, so that’s what we did.

We drove to the Mirage and self parked there because that’s where we would be eating later on. We hopped on the monorail to Treasure Island and picked up our tickets at the Mystere box office.

IMG_2533.jpg

IMG_2534copy.jpg

We had about an hour and a half to kill before the show and Rob was hungry again so we found Canters Deli for him and he got some foodage. I seriously don’t know where that man puts it all! :earseek:

Fruit salad, apple pie and some chocolate mini-croissants. Can't find the receipt so I have no idea how much this was?
IMG_2536-copy.jpg

I asked him if he minded if I went to play some blackjack if I could find a $5 table and he told me to have fun.

And have fun is exactly what I did!

There were several $5 tables open so I picked one with a dealer named Ken (thought it was good luck since I have a brother named Ken!) and changed $60 into chips. This was an awesome table with lots of fun people!

I played for about 20 minutes before my first blackjack, and just as it Ken laid the ace down, I looked around and there was Rob hahaha! My good luck charm! I gave Rob the half dollar to keep (he’s a bit of a coin collector) and continued to play for a bit. I was having tons of fun, hit a little bit of a winning streak but time was ticking away and we had to go. Even after giving Ken about $25 in tips over an hour or more, I cashed out with $85 so I was all happy!

My winnings!

Down to the Mystere theatre we go…

It was a really great theatre and we had really great seats, front row, centre!

We both LOVED this show! It was absolutely everything a Cirque show should be. It was funny, amazing, weird, full of talented dancers, singers and actors and had tons of great acrobatics and amazing feats of strength!

If there is one show we would recommend seeing, it would be this one! If you get the chance, do it, you won’t be sorry!

Back to the Mirage, we headed for California Pizza Kitchen. :woohoo:

A few years ago when Rob and I flew to California, we had a stop-over in Phoenix and discovered CPK. It was some of the best pizza we have ever tasted! So when I found out they were in Vegas too, it was put on the list of must do’s!

The restaurant was a little weird. It is located next to the sportsbook and is open to the Casino all around, no walls, except into the kitchen, you could people watch as you ate. :magnify:

We ordered some pizzas and then they brought us some bread. This was the first place so far to serve bread. It was a nice touch but I didn’t really enjoy it.

IMG_2539.jpg

Finally, our pizzas came!!!! They were both soooo good! The ham (actually it was Canadian bacon. and would you believe Rob didn’t know what Canadian bacon was???!!! ) on Rob’s pizza was sooo delicious!!!! I kept picking it off and eating it. I’ve been doing that to his pizza for 13 years now, good thing he loves me!

Rob loves their crust and well, he’s been eating my pizza crust for 13 years so I think we are about even. He ate all of my crust and some of his too!

Hello ladies!
IMG_2540.jpg

Bill was $35 + tip. Again, worth every penny!

With full tummies we headed back to the Luxor and watched Indy on the laptop for a bit before calling it a night.

Although the day started out kinda crappy, it ended really well and we had lots of fun! :thumbsup2

Wow, I just got an email from Mandalay Bay for their Exotic Escape promotion for the next 3 months and they have Sun-Thurs rates for $100/night and you get a whole bunch of stuff included like resort credits and free suite upgrades!! WOWZA!!  :lovestruc

Now to win the lottery :rolleyes1

Excellent updates Cass and wowweeeeeeeee .... I think I need to look at my in-box for offers from Mandalay Bay because that's a steal!

BTW ... I saw the hot roast beef smoothie comment! :lmao: You're the second person to mention that in the last week. :thumbsup2

And I'm so glad you enjoyed the Burger Bar even though the burger upset your tummy later that night. Jay and I really enjoyed our meal there and would go back in a heartbeat ... and I thought the Kobe Beef Burger was awesome, too! YUM!!

Looking forward to reading more! :goodvibes

PS ... Mother Goose, you can't eat cheap in Vegas anymore unless you go off the strip. It's become a dining destination which is the reason your favorite gastropods ate themselves silly there last April. ;)

Cool report, thanks so much for sharing! :thumbsup2

Cass love great update, however every time i read one i can't help bursting out laughing just wondering what it would be like to own an "All you can eat $9.99 buffet" and seeing Jeff,Brenda,Jason and Rob could waltzing in,I have now added Rob to my ever growing list of "No likey people" due to the fact it would appear he too can eat a small town without ever having to suffer the consequences...:snooty: .....:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

ps..."Although the day started out kinda crappy".....:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

You see, I’m a smell girl, as Rob likes to call me. I never thought of myself as having a sensitive nose but I like me a good smell!!! I often remember things from their smell. Good and bad. It’s one of my least favourite things about going to Disney World, you come across a lot of really stinky people. In Vegas, however, you come across a lot of good smelling people.
:lmao: :rotfl2:

I'm following along.
DH and I went on our first trip to Vegas a couple of weeks ago. We were there the first week of October but for only 4 days. We didn't get to see nearly everything we wanted to see.
BTW, I was a huge Donny Osmond fan when I was younger. We went to the Donny and Marie show at the Flamingo. DH surprised me with VIP tickets. We had front row seats and were able to have a meet and greet with them after the show. It was great! Yes, I thought the huge picture on the hotel outside was a bit much; he even said that on the stage at the show.

YAY!! Another Cass and Rob trip report!!!

Happy belated anniversary and early Happy Birthday to Kira.

Keep these reports coming, love em!

Cynde
