Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

Are you saying that when you are at a resort hotel you have a choice of getting on a bus that says TTC or a bus that says MK?
From your actual Disney Resort, you will only see a bus for the Magic Kingdom. Consider it a nice perk... direct access to the gates instead of a large parking lot, tram ride, then monorail/ferry ride :thumbsup2

Or are you saying that if you are at, say, AK, you will only see a TTC bus.
Correct, from the Disney parks themselves... you will not see a bus stop marked "Magic Kingdom"... but rather "Ticket and Transportation Center. The only bus stops located directly at the Magic Kingdom's entrance are Resort Bus Stops only.

I'm familiar with the TTC because we usually stay offsite, but I'm a little confused about the Disney transportation from resorts and between parks. The last time I stayed onsite I was with my sister who is a Disney guru and just followed her!

 you got spoiled eh! Disney transportation (in my opinion) is very easy to learn/use by just asking questions and doing a tad bit of research.

Your Disney Resort will provide you with easily marked transportation to all Disney Parks and Downtown Disney. Let's just use CBR as an example.

CBR uses strictly bus transportation and from your resort bus stop, you'll notice buses marked:
Magic Kingdom
Epcot
Disney Hollywood Studios
Animal Kingdom and Blizzard Beach (although sometimes they are seperate)
Downtown Disney and Typhoon Lagoon (also sometimes seperate)

Simply board the bus to the park of your choice and once finished with that park, simply walk to the bus stop that is labeled "Caribbean Beach Resort". All Parks/DTD have "bus directories" that clearly designate which bus stop number your resort is.

When you start Park Hopping from park to park... is when things can get tricky!

You'll notice Epcot, DHS, and Animal Kingdom will provide transporation to the other 3 main parks, except instead of seeing a bus stop for "Magic Kingdom", you'll see one labeled as "Ticket and Transportation Center". If traveling from Epcot, you'll need to take the monorail to the TTC; DHS and AK will provide a bus.

The only odd ball is Downtown Disney. Due to "free parking" you'll notice that this area (2 stops total) only has "Resort" bus stops... no direct access to any parks/TTC.

The water parks (at least from what I can remember) will have a bus stop for the TTC, but no other parks.

Edited to add:
If traveling from the Magic Kingdom to the other parks... the steps would be to use the Ferry/Monorail to the TTC, and catch a desired park bus from there. You can not access any Disney Resorts from the TTC with exception to a walking trail to the Polynesian or the Resort Monorail loop for the GF and Contemp.

Thank you DisneySherpa! That was an excellent explanation! I'm excited about not having to go through the TTC - that was kind of a pain when we stayed offsite - although my son loved those parking lot trams better than any of the rides when he was two. :)

No Problem :thumbsup2

When you get really comfortable with it... you're able to add in the "nearby resort" element... I won't even try to explain that one... baby steps ;)

It's the neatest feeling to step off your bus and be only steps from the front entrances of the Magic Kingdom... not to mention the time saver aspect... especially when leaving the parks. I consider it one of the best perks of staying onsite!

I know exactly what you mean about the parking lot trams  I guess it will give you something to do on a rainy afternoon though... hop a bus to the MK/TTC and let him ride the tram around the parking lot a few times till the rain stops :rolleyes1

I created this map to maybe give you some ideas...

Courtyard view of Building 24 is a very solid option... not to mention puts you close to the quiet pool (but back side you won't hear any noise) and bus stop.

If being too close to the pool concerns to you... consider courtyard view in building 25. My only concern would be if you got a room closer to Building 26 and the proximity to the smoking area located nearby.

Courtyard view of Building 31 is also a very strong option (forgot the arrow... sorry!) and would be ideal in proximity to Old Port Royal.

Building 32 Courtyard view is also a decent option... especially since the smoking area of Building 33 is more off to the side.

I'd simply request 2nd Floor, Courtyard View, Buildings 24, 25, 31, or 32. At the time of check-in restate your concerns/requests and see what your room assigner can do for you. I'd avoid online check-in if possible... and work with a check-in CM instead since the location is so important!

Best suggestion... if you're not happy with your room assignment... tell someone! I can also say that on our last CBR vacation (May 09) the smoking area's were RARELY used, and in our section (T. South) we never even saw anybody ever using them. :confused3

Hope this kind of helps!

Thank you so much!!!!

I just had to share my good news with my CBR friends. As many of you know, I had a stay booked at Pop for our upcoming August trip. I booked it with the buy 4/get 3 promo back in February. Well, today, after three phone calls, I finally got someone who was willing to try and upgrade me to the CBR. I did and it only cost me an additional $456.64 for 9 nights. Wooohooo!

Congrats!!! :cool1:

Congrats!!! :cool1:

I literally did a little dance when I told John I got the upgrade! It took me three phone calls until I finally got somebody willing to help. We aren't telling Lacey or Hunter about the upgrade so it's another surprise trip!

By the way, I'll be updating my trip report to include more CBR pictures, Pop pictures and Downtown Disney pictures. Ya'll come check it out.

Time to change that signature!!!

Thanks for the reminder! I'll go do that now. I'm so excited. We aren't telling the kids so it'll be a surprise. Last year, we surprised our son with a trip to Disney (You can read all about it in my trip report. The link's in mysignature.) He thought we'd never be able to pull another fast one on him. Well, guess what!

 Great News! I can't wait to go back. We have decided on October 2010. Are the pools still open in October? Are the waterparks open during October?

When we booked the stay at Pop we had a few worries but decided we would be perfectly fine there. Once my husband and I started reminiscing about our last CBR stay, I couldn't get the resort out of my mind. I'm just thankful I finally got the upgrade. :thumbsup2

I think the pools are open year round but I am not too sure about the waterparks. Have you asked over on the theme park board?

Ok, my friendly CBR experts out there; I have a question!!!! We have a preferred room reserved for our Aug. trip. We have stayed in Preferred both times we stayed at CBR previously. We have stayed in Martinique and North Trinidad. We want a 2nd floor room, and we'd like to not be facing the road, we have a DD with epilepsy and her seizures can be triggered by interrupted sleep, so being near the road in North Trinidad was not good for us previously in that regard. Other DD has severe allergies so being near one of the courtyards with the DSAs isn't going to be a good choice either. So, where do you suggest I ask for in my request? I'm so confused...........:confused3 I just don't know where to ask for. Also, feel free to give Bldg #s as well, I can add that to the request when I call. Thanks!!!

We just got back and we had a preferred room in Martinique bldg 26 room 2628. It was on the inside of a court yard with tables with umbrellas. Only one day did we have noise in the afternoon when a father was screaming at his kids to take a nap.....and I mean really screaming at them.

We just got back from CBR and I assumed we were going to be in a standard room since that is what we paid for but when we checked in the put us in Martinique bldg 26! It was so nice to be so close to Port Royal that we decided to purchase the mugs and boy did we ever get use out of them too!

:cheer2: Now that's great news! We've had probably 6 stays at CBR - our first was when it was brand new and we wanted a change from the Poly...we didn't return to the Poly for almost 20 years!!

As I mentioned on another thread - while you could have made POP work, it's wonderful to return to a resort that feels more like home. :thumbsup2

Wonderful!!! We've stayed in Martinique 26 a few times and always had a fabulous room/location. It was so close to OPR that it was almost too close - if that makes sense. No reason to stroll around and enjoy the beauty of CBR. :goodvibes

My DD10 has a BBB reservation at MK at 8 a.m. What time should we plan to catch the bus from CBR to be there in time?

Thanks!

Are there showers by the quiet pools at CBR? (We will be arriving at CBR next Saturday, July 11 for 8 nights. I am getting so excited!)

Edit: Showers, meaning restrooms with hot showers.

There are outdoor showers, and there is a restroom attached to the Laundry Room, but I don't think that there are showers in them.
