can't decide SSR or OKW resale

Help!! I need to make a decision to either purchase at SSR by 2/28/05 or a resale w/ OKW. Never stayed at either place. Don't know much about OKW. Any feedback is great. I do know adv. with SSR longer ownership term.

OKW rooms larger(except the studios), points cheaper and less points required for a room. SSR has the xtra 12 years and Disney financing.

If financing is an issue for you, then SSR has an advantage because Disney offers easy financing. If financing isn't a problem, then OKW is a good deal on the resale market.

SSR is new and OWK is one of the oldest but no matter what you can stay anywhere you want with your points. We just got back from Florida on Sun. We used part of our points for the DCL 4 day cruise and then the other part of our points to stay at SSR plus one night at CSR the day before the cruise.
Our home resort is the SSR.

The extra years was the selling point for me at SSR.

I got a nice contract with all 04 and 05 points available for $74. I hope we will pass ROFR. If not, we will be back to square one. I think we will choose based on the availability of good resale deals. Personally, we prefer to stay at OKW. But the 12 extra years of use has to be worth something.

I chose SSR because of the 12 extra years and I don't care which resort I will be staying at, I'm happy at any of them. I bought a small resale contract though so I am waiting for it to pass ROFR. But if financing is important and you want at least 150 points then I would say to go with Disney!

They are very close in proximity...with SSR having a little better access to DTD (short walk). However, they are very different resorts. I'd take a good look at pictures of the resorts...especially the rooms. The furnishings at OKW are *very* casual. SSR is much more classic/formal. OKW is older...and a bit dated in design/furnishings (IMHO...I know others won't agree)...but most definitely a wonderful resort. SSR is brand new.

If reserving an OKW GV (very low points) during a busy DVC season is important to you...then I'd definitely say buy at OKW. Other than that...I don't see much difference...except for the extra 12 years. Interestingly enough...there are rumors about additions to SSR (restaurants, etc.)...so there could be more "perks" to owning at SSR in the future. Who knows?

They are both great resorts. My tastes run more toward the fancy/formal. We own at SSR and really enjoyed staying there last year. We are staying at OKW in May...and I'm just as psyched!
