Canadian Magic ~ June 10, 2012

ok - so we change the close date to April 10, and the group size to be no more than 15? I think that works for everyone. Obviously if we stay at 16, then no split, right? If we get to 20 then we split? (trying to keep the group size even is why)

Cayla

I think 20 cabins is ok, 15 is preferred. I think that DCL will offer last minute discount rates and more people will want to join the FE right before the cruise. This happened on our November Dream cruise. People wanted to join after we closed the FE group, and were quite upset that we wouldn't allow them in the main group, though we opened a second smaller group for them.

Hello...We just booked this cruise last night. I am very excited.

It will be me (Monika) and my DH (Michael). We are from Delaware. :thumbsup2 This will be our 9th Disney cruise. Just can't get enough!!!!

I see I have a lot of reading to do..to catch up. Looking forward to chatting with you and meeting you!!!!

Have a good evening and take care...:flower3:

I, too, am a fan of closing earlier and allowing new people to form a second group and maybe a third group. I currently count 18 cabins and I would like to stop at 20 per group with everyone having the option, but not the obligation, to participate with everyone. That way those of us that want smaller groups can have them and those of us that want larger groups can have them.

Sounds good to me too :)

So the concensus is that we keep the groups at 20 or less, we close it earlier (does April 10 work for that?), and a new smaller group can be started if necessary after that date. Did I get it?

I am still wondering about the splitting....fore/aft or deck split? Or wait to see how the cabins land. I would hate to see folks running from one end of the ship to the other for FE gifts!

Welcome aboard!! I am the FE person - if you are interested in participating, click on the link in my signature and PM me the necessary information. The discussion that is going on right now is about when to close the list and what size groups to limit it to. HOWEVER, one is allowed to be a part of as many groups as you choose (assuming we get over 2 )

Hi everyone. We just submitted the Facebook request - We wanted also to post here - We wanted to join your FE. This will be our 4th Disney Cruise and we have missed out on joining the last couple of FE's just a couple of hours late.:confused3
Hopefully you still have space to add our cabin. We have A new disney friend that is also booking on this cruise and would also love to join. It will be her first FE. Can't wait to hear from everyone.

Welcome!

I personally don't mind going all over the ship, I like to see everything so splitting based on location isn't necessary for me but I'll be happy with what the group decides!

Really not that much to see. All the decks/hallways with staterooms look the same.

Looks like we are at 17 cabins on the list (actually 18 listed but Lisa, Goldeelox9 switched to another cruise). And a couple new ones have just joined the list, so that will be more.

I also pick up as I see things and add to as more are put on the list.

We had 17 cabins on our recent cruise and that wasn't any trouble at all. I agree with Shea if it gets about 26-30 that's a good point to split it up. I don't like to see it cut off this soon, we aren't even to the pay in full date where some may drop and others may add.

I think closing the group now is way too soon (it's more than 4 months yet til our cruise). I think closing at 30-45 days is good, giving newbies time to find out about this. Those that are 'new' to DCL have no idea what the FE is and it's a shame if they can't join us because we closed

Same with us, with all the food we enjoy on the cruise, walking the halls to deliver the gifts is one way to work some of it off. we loved seeing the decorations on various doors.

I see that you need a few more posts before you can PM - there is a page (somewhere on the home page of the boards) that is set up for just this, you make one word posts until you get to 10, or you can post info here. I am the FE list keeper the link is below in my signature. I need your Dis Name, Real Name, cabin #, who is traveling with you and ages of kids, and any special concerns (allergies etc). I will add you to the google doc page. It is a read only page (another cruise I am on had it as an open page - boy did it get confusing and messed up!!)

I agree with the running all over the ship! I always do all the groups. The largest number of FE gifts I have done is 225. That was on the Dream Maiden, took me over 4 hours total, but what a blast! The doors all look great, and I will say I "steal" ideas for decorating mine

I think we are working with an April 10 close date as of now. Since some folks are making things that require parts and pieces to arrive in time, they asked for a 60 day close. I personally prefer a 30 day close, but am trying to accomodate everyone. If anyone joins after the close date I will put them on the list as "maybe" for everyone. As I posted above, I do not think 30 cabins is an issue. I have done very large FE lists and enjoyed it very much. I am just trying to get a feel for the general consensus of what we should do. I will post a survey and that will give us a better idea.

I am actually able to add people until the day before the cruise for my gift- I make them, but can whip one up in about 10 minutes so it is not an issue for me.

Hi...nice to see another Delaware in the group!!! We are in Milton...6 miles north of Lewes. We have family in New Castle...they live in Penn Acres. I do Facebook...will join in...thanks

Cayla...no we will not be doing the fish extender this time around. We are cruising in March...I am the fish extender person for that group...I know what you are going through. We currently have 19 cabins with a total of 50 people (kids and adults). We cruise on March 22nd. The cut off date for our cruise is February 1st. I am sure all will work out!!!!

I just submitted a facebook request, but not sure who to send a PM to... ?

Renea (sparkypluto)

thanks!

So what are people thinkign about the excursions that are posted?

Not booking anything in Halifax. My co-worker was there last June and said so much is walkable from the ship. We want to see the Maritime Museum (about $8 per person) and do our own walking tour.

In St. John the railway tour over the reversing falls looks cool.

We're probably going to book the Saint John railway tour. Thinking about the harbor tour and lobster lunch excursion in Halifax.

There are too many great excursions to choose from! I don't know where to start. I'm waiting for DH and DD to take a look and see what they are interested in doing.

I haven't started my FE or the gifts! :scared1: I have so much to do. I am okay with what everyone else wants to do. This is our third Disney cruise and first time we've taken part in the FE group. This will be our 9th cruise overall and we did a big meet and greet on 3 of them, which was great.

DD and I are going to WDW in March, so we are busy planning our girls vacation. :woohoo:
