Can we add a person?

Hi Everyone:

DCL is closed until tomorrow. Question: We have a cat 5 booked for myself, hubby, daughter age 8 and son 19 months. Our stateroom sleeps 4 and we are requesting a crib for my son. If someone from our family wanted to come last minute, can they stay in our stateroom? We will have the couch/bed that no one will be using.

While you will really have to get the answer from DCL, I was chatting with a Castaway Club CM who said it could be a problem. (We weren't sure if we would take baby and/or grandma). Since there are other factors involved with the extra person (dining, safety) there might be a problem.

It could depend on how full your cruise is.

The answer depends on several factors -

First, if you have a Category 5 cabin, the maximum capacity is 4 people and DCL will not allow you to exceed that, even if one of the occupants uses a crib.

You might be able to move up into a Category 4 cabin, they will accomodate 5 people.

Then there are other factors to consider:

How full is your cruise now?
DCL has to be sure that there is enough capacity remaining in the lifeboats as well as is there enough room in your cabin.

Is the new person under 3 years old or over 12 years old?
Many times, the childrens programs are completely booked up while there is plenty of space available in the cabins, the dining rooms, and the lifeboats. Your chances are better if the new passenger will not need to use the kids' programs.

Your best bet is to contact DCL as soon as possible and make arrangements with them.

In the meantime, if you were really curious, you could go through the DCL online reservation system and use the 'Get a Quote' option and try to get a quote on a new Category 5 cabin. Be sure to specify the ages of the children under 18 to get an accurate view of the situation.
