Can someone explain what the change in booking policy is?

OK I'm just not getting it. My last reservation w/DCL was a while ago, I called and booked what I wanted when I hit the 11 month open window (does that still exist for your home resort?) and added a day on at the end a few weeks later when we realized it would be a longer stay that originally planned.
What's the new policy and how does it differ from the old. I read the DVC web site, but to be honest, I'm not getting what the change is.

If you're talking about DVC villas, you can now book your home resort 11 months from the check in date, not the check out date. At that point, you can book up to 7 days with that one call. You can do the same from 7 months from check in date for a resort that you are not an owner. So, if you wanted February 1 - 7, 2010 in your home resort, you can book all of those dates on March 1, 2009.
