Can I purchase Disney Dollars with my Disney Rewards card??

Does anyone know if I can purchase Disney dollars to give as gifts with my Visa Rewards card?? Not the credit card, but the rewards card that I am getting before my trip. If I have some credits left over, can I go to the Emporium (for example) and buy $200 worth of Disney Dollars to give as presents to some family members??? Thanks in advance for the answer!

First you will need to purchase them at your front desk or guest relations. Disney Dollars are not sold at merchandise locations.

Second when I worked front desk I know they could be purchased with a credit card but there was a $50 limit. I am not sure how it would work with a Visa Rewards card. I would think if you could do it there would be a limit imposed similar to a credit card.

I'm not sure about Disney Dollars, but you can definitely use them to buy Disney gift cards.

Our Disney Store no longer sells Disney dollars, but I have heard they are sold at the parks.

We alaways give our kids Disney Dollars as their spending money on our trips. We usually get them ahead of time at the Disney Store.

My understanding was about a year ago the Disney Stores stopped selling them. I used to get them there too.

Yesterday I went to our local Disney store at the mall to buy a Disney gift card with a Rewards card that is to expire in 12/11. I was told they no longer allow you to buy gift cards with rewards cards. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Looks like you can go through disneygiftcard (which actually goes through disneyshopping.com) to buy with a rewards card. Gives me the option to use one, at least.

poplover777 - You should be able to still use the rewards card to buy a Disney gift card at the Disney store. Sounds like you just got someone who didn't know what they were doing.

OP - No, you can't use the rewards to buy Disney Dollars, but you can use it to buy a Disney gift card.

"2011 Disney Dollars

Disney Dollars have not been released in 2010 and we await to see if 2011 will bring change. In 2010 Disney Dollars were officially taken out of the Disney Store (located throughout the United States). As of January 1st, 2011 the 2009 "What will you Celebrate" Disney Dollars are still available."

From what I can tell, you can purchase them only in Disney parks now.

This happened to me as well at my local Disney store.
I was able to buy gift cards with my rewards points through Disneyland.com though.
