Bear with me on this...:)

DH used to HATE coasters - since I LOVE them he started *trying* them and now enjoys any that don't "flip him around and upside down". I have told him that the ones that twist and turn are actually quite smooth and not at all what he'd expect them to be. I actually think he might enjoy them if he'd try them.

Soooo....he has NO idea what Rock n'Roller Coaster really is. Can I tell him it's sort of like Space Mountain and *forget* to mention that it flips around? Do they have pictures, etc...that will give it away while we're in line?

He willingly goes on Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, etc...

Thanks :)

Well - while you are standing in the queue, the launch of the vehicles is in full view. If he can stand 0 - 60 in 2.8 seconds, then the inverts should be no problem. There are plenty of posted warnings throughout the queue that say you will be inverted, so if you think he won't freak out, divert his attention. And assure him it'll all be over in less than two minutes - that may ease his mind.

DD8 does not like to go on coasters that go upside down either but she LOVED this one. I think being in the 'car' with the music playing sets a better mood. Also she can't see how big the loops are so she couldn't worry about it while standing in line. The coaster has a VERY smooth ride. If your DH gets physically ill you might want to reconsider but otherwise ... enjoy your trip to the concert!:jester:

When my oldest son first rode it, he sat next to a grandmother from another group. When they got off, he said her if she liked it and if it was her first "upside-down" rollercoaster. Her eyes got big and she said "We went upside-down!" Being in the dark takes a lot of edge off of the sensation. The ride is as smooth as silk. Your husband will be fine. And the launch is a real gas!!!

I have never been much of a rollercoaster person and I really don't like Space Mtn. (too bumpy) but I honestly LOVE RnRC!!! Even though you do go through a couple of inversions, it's probably the smoothest of all the WDW coasters.

You have to get him to try it. It is my favorite ride on the property. But it will be kind of hard for him to not see the signs. Not to mention the little speech the CM gives you before you go in to the preshow. "Thanks for visiting G-Force records where we turn the record industry and you upside down."

I think being in the dark will help with the upside-down aspect. You can always have him come through the queue with you and then take the "chicken exit" if he thinks it will be too much for him.

One more thing ... don't sit in front ;).

Someone correct my memory - outside the RnRC the Giant Guitar that kind of turns into/is a track - doesn't this have a loop in it and won't that give it away?

My DH doesn't like roller coasters and loved this one. He said that it si the smoothest one he has even been on.

yasuern - The track outside the entrance has a car that is hanging upside down.

Talk to him through the pre-show about anything but the possibility of going upside down. As others have said, this is an extremely smooth coaster. It is so fast that the loops and rolls are over before you realize it.

As SC Minnie said, unless he gets physically ill from something like this, go for it!!! It will probably become one of his favorite rides.

My DD hates inverted coasters, too, but Rock n Rollercoaster is her FAVORITE ride! If she can do it, your hubbie can!

My dad hates loopin coasters too but we went on it and when he got of he asked where the loop was. I said thats funny dad, and he said he was serious. the only part he felt was the corkscrew and he said he probably wouldn't have if he didn't see the yellow sign with the curly thing on it. You can tell him this story and i'm sure they'll go on it. however like mrsapalm statedif they see the train take off they might be a bit shaky

:bounce: :jester: :bounce:

RnR is awesome!!

I highly doubt you can avoid him knowing about the "flipping around", maybe--but doubtful.

However, my husband absolutely refuses to go on any roller coaster when we go to amusement parks. We were insistent that he try RnR--loves the music and wanted to try the G-forces...so he did.

He LOVED it and has been on it more times than I can count!! So, maybe if you can't fool him, you can give him success stories!! Our 5 year old was barely tall enough and she thought it was amazing!! Our favorite ride anywhere!

:earsboy: :earsgirl:

Well, I guess I'm the only one who got the opposite reaction. My friend is the same way your husband is and she realized she was upset down and got extremely upset with me for tricking her onto the ride.

I'd just be honest with him. Tell him he probably won't notice it because the ride is so fast, but at least he'll know up front. JMHO. :smooth:

agreed to try them with my friend who comes to Disney solo once in a while. She told me it was in the dark like space mountain.

Honestly I was petrified when it came to an end and I couldn't let go to get out. I literally HATED her for not warning me.

The next time ... yes there was a next time I always try anything three times. The next time she coached me by preparing me ok first we do the big loop now we spiral to the right. Whew it was over I DID IT !!!! She forgot about the last spiral to the left.

Well I was unsettled again, but by time three (this was over the course of three trips) we had it down pat. I rode it last week by myself. That's a little quesay in itself. There's no one to "lean" into. But I say for sure warn he what is coming.

Even in the media\cal practive they learned that people were afraid of the unknown. So know they say you're going to feel a pinch and then a ....

The trust factor HAS to be there .. trust me

I would probably warn him.

I somehow managed to get my hubby past the upside down Caddie at the entrance, through the pre-show and he also was looking the other way when a car launched.

However, when we did launch and went through the first loop, I could hear him cussing me over Aerosmith

I had almost had hubby talked into at least going through the line with me at ToT because it truly is amazing, but now there is no way he'll do that.

Well, you could always wait by the exit for a SIX YEAR OLD to come out.....if a little kid isn't scared, surely a grown man should be able to handle it!!! ;)

Seriously, I'd be up-front about what the ride really is.....but make the deal that if he tries it and doesn't like it, you'll stop asking him to ride with you - and you'll go it alone next time.

I think he will love it. The only other coasters I have ridden were Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain. For a few years I have passed up Rock n' Rollercoaster but this past Dec I gave it a try. It was so smooth and was over before I knew it, I spent the rest of the day on it. My favorite part of the ride is going inverted. Tell him to give it a shot.

I KNOW he'll love it! I was just like him--never rode any of the roller coasters, except BTM and that terrified me!

I made up my mind that I was going to try RnRC. I almost left when I saw the first car launch!!! But, I got on and had a ball!!!

Now, I ride all the roller coasters! It's a blast!!

I'd be honest with DH, though.

If I found out my DH had told me it was something other than it really is I'd be furious and would never trust him again.

Tell him it's fast, smooth, and the inversions are over before you realize it!

Have fun--we'll be there on 2/11!! Can't wait!!!
