Mickeystoontown's Cheers to 40 years! 18 days, 10 park days, 2 parties and a lot of fun! Updated 4/25

Love this Trip Report as I have loved ALL your many Trip Reports and always look forward to them.
Thank you! I'm so glad that you are along for another ride with us!
I smiled when you said you like jewelry when at Disney and I definitely do also. Never come home without something of a jewelry category. I've bought Crislu occasionally but most of what I buy is the 'cheap' stuff and my sweet husband sprays everything with something so they don't tanish....as fast. He just rolls his eyes and says nothing.

I love jewelry of any kind and if it is Disney, it makes it even better!
I am crazy about your picture of the white rose jewelry set and definitely wasn't at Disney when there end of January. I would have bought.

Wasn't it so pretty!?! I wish that I had gone back and gotten it.
The Lug cases were / are really cute. My daughter lives 8 months 55 minutes from Disney and goes very often and last week she bought and sent a picture of the Lug Orange Bird. So cute. I bought Lug from HSN shopping many years ago when the designer first started out and what I bought still looks like brand new many years later.
So they are good quality...hum...may have to add these to my list of possibly purchases when we go back in November.
Can't wait to read each entry you make.

PS: You both looked stunning in that dress-up picture. So lovely.
PSS: From Day One my normally non-judgmental husband has greatly disliked Figment. Thinks he looks devilish.
Thank you! I am not a dressy upppy kinda person but this was so much fun!

I'm glad that John isn't the only person who doesn't like Figment!

That was such a cute show!

We were at Hollywood Studios in no time at all thanks to the Skyliner. I love it! Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I'd be so comfortable riding it. I mean, I hate high places so much that I cried when I was on our roof helping John trim a limb that was hanging over our roof. We live in a single story house! I half squench my eyes when we are driving across a dam on our way to Arkansas. I'm so scared of high places! But, when riding the Skyliner, I can look down, stay calm, and even relax. It's the weirdest thing.

Anyway, we were at Hollywood Studios and there were lines forming for entry into the party. We found one that looked halfway decent and hopped in. The lines moved shortly thereafter, and we were in the park. We followed the direction that the cast members gave us, had our bands/tickets scanned and we were directed to the entrance of the party. We were early so we figured we would go get our picture taken in front of the Jollywood Nights sign. We had the picture taken and were about to start wandering when we realized that the pictures weren't showing up at all. Now I know that it can take a while for them to upload to the My Disney Experience account but I was afraid that our band hadn't scanned correctly because it was acting wonky for the PhotoPass photographer. Since we were right there, why not loop back through and have them taken again. (I am glad we did because the first ones never showed up.) While we were in line, my friend text me that she was almost in the park and where would be a good place to meet. We told her where we were and she met us by the sign. She looked so cute too!

We all wanted to see the Kermit and Miss Piggy show and it wouldn't be long before it started so we headed in that direction and found good seats in the theater. For some reason, the show was delayed so we had time to chat before it began. Some people ended up leaving but we stayed put because we still had hours and hours to go. Once the show started, it was so cute! Warning, I was snapping away so some of the pictures aren't that great or they look like duplicates. I was also going live on Facebook on my personal and business pages. I was multi-tasking!

I know I'm late but I'm here.

Really enjoying your report. DH and I just celebrated 40 years on Saturday. It sure does go by fast doesn't it?

Thanks for sharing your Le Cellier meal. We haven't eaten there since 2007 and are thinking about going in July. That steak sure looked good.

You both look so good in fancy clothes for the party. My DD was working the party that night. I know everyone was saying it went much better than the year before. Someday I hope to go.

We stayed at CBR in January and would love to stay again but the discounts just haven't worked out. It's definitely high on our list. I always think of you when I see it.

I don't think we were supposed to do this!

My friend was going to see if she could find some of the characters so we big her goodbye and set out on our own. We weren't sure what we were going to do but we'd figure it out as we went along. We stopped to take my picture on the suitcases and the Route 66 sign. It didn't turn out too good but..eh...why not post it. As you can see, not everyone was dressed to the 9s. Some were in just shorts and tees, some had jeans and tees, others (not seen in these pictures) were also dressed Hollywood style. I have to admit that we were a little over the top but that's how we do things most of the time.

We ended up in front of the Chinese theater and the line for the runaway rail train was super short so in we went.

I don't think we were supposed to do this! continued

We were both slipping from one side to the other on our slippery clothing and that's when John said "I don't think we were supposed to do this!"

We enjoyed the ride as always but we were slip sliding around more than usual. It was then that we decided to just stick with walking around and participating in the events instead of riding rides.

**Up next: Trying some of this and that and the other!

Trying some of this and that and the other!

The reason that we decided to have a table service lunch was because we figured that we'd want to be partying and not sitting at a table during the party. We wanted to snack and walk around the park and paaaarrrrtttaaa! We left Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railtrain and went down the steps to see what was going on. There was a dance party near the Star Wars Launch Bay but it hadn't started yet and the characters weren't there at the time so we continued on.
IMG_6789.JPEG

We went under the Hollywood Studios arch and circled around to AMC Commissary where we bought the empanadas and something else that I can't remember right now. One had a dipping sauce and the other had a corn salad:

IMG_6793.JPEG

We shared and both thought they were very good, good enough that we would have ordered another but we had someplace else to be. Last year, we had the popovers and they were pretty darn good so we walked over to give them another try. We were NOT going to be getting another PB&J Doughnut. It was disgusting!

IMG_6794.JPEG

We placed our order, gave our name and stood to the side to wait for our order to be ready. Let me tell you, those cast members were working their tails off to get orders out quickly. My name is super common and so is John's so I sometimes give them our last name. Tonight, I should have given our last name because three Lisas called before it was me Lisa. John didn't get in line with me but, rather, stood outside the line behind me so he could help carry our things. The shake was first and then the two popovers.

They were good but not very warm. Well, the shake wasn't supposed to be warm but the popovers were and they were just lukewarm which kinda turned us off. Didn't mean that we didn't eat them though.

**Up next: Oooh a soiree'! Fancy! Oh wait....ummm....okay, I guess!

Look at me being all rude and stuff. I came on here, posted an update, and didn't even ask y'all how your Easter holiday went! It was our first Easter without Mama, but, for me and my family, it was a little hard but we handled it well. I don't mean this as if we didn't care. I've said this so many times since Mama got sick...."I have absolutely zero regrets about the time that I spent with Mama and the decisions that had to be made about her". Don't get me wrong, I miss her. I miss us being neighbors. I miss talking to her every day. I miss making her dinner and spending those minutes with her every day. But, I know where she is. I know who she is spending eternity with. I know that I will see her one day.

Our family finally has little ones again so we got to watch the two little boys run around and find eggs. We snuggled with our other nephew who isn't walking yet. We spent time in fellowship with friends and family and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

What did y'all do for Easter?

Oooh a soiree'! Fancy! Oh wait....ummm....okay, I guess!

Second set of snacks/food done, we were ready to party some more and started our way towards the Sips and Soiree which was in the exit area at Tower of Terror. There was a band playing and a singer and it was set up really nicely. I knew that I wanted something that was non-alcoholic and John would probably get a champagne so we got in line and made our way to the counter to order. I am having a hard time remembering exactly what I got but I think it was a sparkling pomegranate something or other and John did get a champagne something or other. Yeah, you can tell we know our alcohol. HA! I was trying to take an artsy fartsy picture of the Sips and Soiree sign but it didn't work. Oh well, I tried.

IMG_6801.JPEG

I took one more while John went to the side to find a spot to wait for me.

As we were sipping our drinks and listening to the amazing band and singer, we were approached by one of the dancers who complimented us on our outfits and said that we fit right in with them. She asked us if we wanted to dance with them and I told her that we weren't exactly the twinkle toes type but she said everyone needed to see how amazing we looked and to please join them. Reluctantly, we followed and it was the oddest feeling....the crowded parted like Moses parting the Red Sea and people were clapping at us for joining. If I am honest, it kinda felt a little neat that we stood out enough that they wanted us to come up front with the band and cast members. We sashayed our way through the song and when it ended, the band and singer thanked us for being a part of their evening. It was pretty darn cool. The cast members came us to us and talked to us for a while afterwards and we thanked them for asking us to dance with them even if we did have two left feet.

We left the area after the next song and set out to explore other areas of the park:

First - huge hugs for your Easter. The first one without your Mama had to be super hard. I'm glad you had little ones to help fill the gap and bring joy.

Those popovers look good but lukewarm?? No thanks. That seems to be a complaint I'm hearing about a lot of the "extra" food these days (stuff from festival booths and such). Makes me wonder how long until someone gets food poisoning.

This party sounds like a lot of fun. I've kind of pushed it out of my initial planning thoughts for next Thanksgiving but...now I'm unsure.

Thank you! Having everyone over and having little ones to hunt eggs again definitely helped.

Yeah, the popovers were good but the needed to be hot. Nobody wants lukewarm mashed potatoes and gravy.

You should look into the party! We absolutely loved it.

Jeeze Louise! I mean jeeze Jack and Sally!

After our dance, we were strolling the park and realized that the Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-ALong would be starting soon so we headed that way. Given the number of people standing in the outside queue area, it was going to be a packed house. Once the doors opened, we let other guests go in before us because we didn't want to be seated at the end of a row and we certainly aren't the type to plop down in the middle of a row without moving "all the way down". Our seats were good and we had a great view of the stage. Not long after, the curtains opened and out came Jack! Jeese Louise! I mean jeeze Jack, he was huge!

I'm going to go ahead and confess to y'all, I've never made it past 15, maybe 20, minutes of the movie. I don't know why but it doesn't hold my interest at all. Even still, the show was super impressive!

Even though we didn't know the songs, we really enjoyed the show! Jack was amazing and Oogie Boogie was super fun. I'd give this one a 10 outta 10.

Up next: ........not sure yet......I'm trying to find my pictures.

I love your outfits! They fit the theme perfectly and you both looked wonderful! :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing your experience at Jollywood. I really hope I can make it to one in the future.
Sorry the popovers weren't very warm! That would be disappointing, because they sounded like they would be a hit.

I love that you two were willing to go up and dance with the CMs! It's something you'll always remember from that experience, and it showed other guests to live in the moment and enjoy yourselves. That experience definitely reminded me of "old school" Disney where the CMs really go out of their way to build onto the guest experience. (Not to say it's gone now, just not as prevalent in the parks.)
