Calling all Fireman wives!!!

I think Margate starts a FF/paramedic at 38k...but the medic is required.
When DH was hired, he was a medic but not a FF...Margate sent him to the academy and paid for it. Now they only hire dual certified.
The County pays MUCH better...Rick could leave, go work for the County and in about 5 years make what he is making now as a chief (>70). He would do it if he was younger, but who wants to go back to being a rookie after being a cheif...and at his age.. 44 (Today is his b-day!!)

A guy who lives in our development just left his job at MDA to be a County firefighter...he took a BIG paycut, but over time, will end up making more $$

I am so happy DH is home tonight..I baked a cake last night and DD picked Shrek candies for the top ( we are seeing it this afternoon) ....she was SO SURE he would love a Shrek cake...LOL!!

I know what you mean about starting all over...DH is captain at the VFD and doesn't really enjoy the whole starting over as a probie thing.

He had his interview today but said it was really short, like 5 questions. He still doesn't know what he is going to do.

Hey girls , just checking in . DH is on shift DD is working till 11 and DS is at a sleepover for the wrestling team ( they call it a lock in LOL but I know it is a sleep over )

Dog wont even sit with me he is busy sleeping on his Dads side of the bed . I went and got in our pool but can I tell you how much more alone I flet out there floating .....


Ok here I sit old and alone but on the bright side .....I GET THE WHOLE BED TONIGHT !!!!

Mad4Mickey, so sorry it has taken me 2 weeks to reply to you. My granddad died so it has been a hectic couple of weeks. I think this is my first post in 2 weeks. DH is at the station today. I'm looking forward to having the bed to myself tonight as well. My only problem is my DS's (8 & 4) think that since it is not a school night and dad is gone, they get to sleep with me. Oh well!
So, what is this meet you are talking about? My luck, it is today and I'm missing it. I did not know about the flower store in Irving. Unfortunately, since I live in Denton, I don't know much about Irving. Except that my DH works there and they don't pay as much as they should. Ha Ha! Did your daughter have a good prom?

Good Evening to all!!!

This is my first post in a little over a week and boy have I missed the DIS!!

We've had a lot going on here at home -
Thunderstorms all the time and my 5 yr old is scared to death of them and is up late with me every night.
DD #2 - 9 months old now is currently taking Zantac for heartburn and acid reflux, and until that diagnosis she was pretty difficult to live with.
My husband and I just made an offer on a house tonight and it was accepted - so now we have to prepare our house to sell.
DH last week passed a kidney stone - he was in a lot of pain.

So...as you can see we've been busy and I have missed everyone here on the DIS. With everything going on with us moving I won't be able to be on the computer as much - but when I am I will be checking in.

I hope all is well with everyone and I hope everyones husbands/loved ones that are fireman are all safe and well. My DH is currently on an ambulance call and I am sure he will be home soon. This new house we are buying is next door to another fireman in town so that will be fun. His wife is really nice and I am looking forward to getting to know her better. Also, with gas prices sky rocketing - my DH and his buddy can take turns driving to the station - BONUS!!!

Anyway - I am going to bed. It's been a long day and I need some sleep before the next round of storms roll in. Because when the storm rolls in, my DD rolls into our bed and that mean no sleep for me.

DH is playing softball tonight so I thought I would pop in and say hello before I go to bed. I will have to let you know if they won - yeah right!!

Anyway....things are going pretty good here. DH has been having a lot of calls lately because we have been having alot of nasty storms around here. When we have a lot of storms, alot of business alarms start going off and naturally the guys have to go make sure nothing was struck by lightning - luckily, nothing has been.

Hey girls...just popping in before bed since I'm finally done working for the night.

Staylor...sorry to hear about your grandpa!

Slo...Glad to see you again. Glad everyone is healthy. And those storms...Jeepers we have been getting doozies up here, too. Tornado warnings and everything...thank goodness we have basements here, LOL. Doesn't help though if we're at camp. Nowhere to go in a camper!

Anyhow...what's everyones plans for the Memorial day weekend? We're off to camp to put our new boat in the water(If it ever stops raining).

DD has Friday off of school so we'll be going Thursday afternoon and stay until Monday. We have a parade monday a.m. (the FD and auxiliary march in...I'm in the auxiliary) in our town for Memorial Day. Anyone else have parades?

No parades for us, but I can count on DH not being around much because he has alot of EMS calls over the Memorial Day weekend. There are so many people doing home improvements and such that he constantly is having calls for people falling off ladders and things of that nature.

For Memorial Day we are having some family over for a short while and we are serving all picnic food - hamburgers, hotdogs, and etc. Nobody wants to cook anything big. The rest of this weekend we have to start getting our house ready to sell - that alone will keep us very busy.

We are moving to another house in the same town. We are very rooted in this town. My DH and I grew up a block away from each other and our parents still live a block away from each other. We now live about 1 mile from both sets of parents and when we move we will live about 3 miles away from our parents.

We are moving to a Quad-level house and I am so excited. This house is the last house on a dead end street so I will have one neighbor. This neighbor will be another guy on the FD so it will be someone we trust. The other side of this house is a forest and there are deer and other animals that we will really enjoy watching.

The best part of this house is there is a 4th bedroom next to the family room that my girls will have as a playroom. So now when Stephanie (my 5yr old) drags out her toys and has no time to put them away, I can just close the door and worry about it the next day.

With this being the last house on a dead end street my DH and the other fireman are already planning FD parties at both of our houses and they will just block off the road because we will be the only ones on that road. This should be alot of fun. I will have to keep everyone posted on how the big move is going. Thank you so much for asking about it!!!!!

I like to keep everyone posted on our very talented FD softball team "Scrubs". Last night they lost 16 to 8 - SHOCKER!!!! Oh well, maybe they will win next week (doubt it ).

Sounds like your house will be party central. I know how those FD parties can get. CRAZY, CRAZY!! I'm happy for you that you're moving into a new house. I know what you mean about being "rooted" in your town. All our family is here, too. Except my younger brother moved to Virginia this year and now everyone wants to move down south, too. Maybe in a few years. (DH has to become chief at the FD first....priorities, you know, LOL)

I'm so sorry your feeling blue. I was just thinking about next Sept. when Jaylin goes to kindergarten....I'll be

blubbering like an idiot, too.

My baby is graduating from daycare on June 11th and I will be crying also. I just can't believe that she isn't a baby anymore and will be starting kindergarten in the fall.

The graduation will be really cute - the kids get caps and gowns and are going to have a real ceremony.

Thanks for the well wishes but..., obviously since I'm on the internet right now we had to come back home. Oldest DD got some sort of stomach bug. (Just what you want at camp) Good thing we only live 20 minutes away.

If she is feeling better tomorrow, we might try to go back. Oh well...could be worse.

MISHELL....How was graduation? Did you need a whole CASE of tissues? Are you having a graduation party? Just wondering.

Hello all - Roemama, I'm sorry to read of your delay - hopefully your DD will feel better soon

We started off our holiday weekend by going to the mall to get Katie's 9 month photo taken. It turned out really well!!!!

Tomorrow I am dedicating the day to finish my flower planting. I need to get these pots filled before we put the house on the market.

Sunday my DH goes to the Indy 500 so he will be gone all day. I'm not sure yet what I am going go do. Hopefully it will be nice outside so me and the kids can go to the park.
