Calling all Chicago DISers #3

:surfweb:

erin - I bet Greg is excited about being a senior :woohoo:
**I hope Andy has a better year this year :wizard: You'll have to keep us posted on how he is doing.

Beastlover - Hi there!!! I remember seeing you around The DIS:) You are absolutly welcome here - it's great to have you!!! Please come by often and visit, we would love to get to know you!!!!:goodvibes

paint - I hear ya on the spelling lists ::yes:: I just quizzed Stephanie on her words last night.

Bunchkin - That's great about Lauren joining choir:). Stephanie can't do that until next year, and she claims she is going to. I'm REALLY going to push it, because she has a beautiful voice :)

TTTTTiiggggggggggggggggggern - Good luck to your kids returning back to school today:teacher:

Mac - Where are you? We haven't seen you lately:guilty:

Time to check the Tag thread, and then off to wake up the Sleeping Beauties. Have a good day!!!

Good morning!

First day of school today and guess who missed his bus! Yup! Good thing his dad lives close and drove him to school. Alex is so not a morning person.

Hello new friends :wave2:

I better get back to work I try to check back later

Hi all! Andy got through his first half day of school, but not without traumas -- he was supposed to be put in a class with his best friend (for support), but his best friend has a twin brother, and the school couldn't remember which one he was friends with -- so he's in class with the twin (they're friends too, but nowhere near as close). So they were going to make sure he was in PE with his friend -- they changed Andy's PE teacher, but didn't tell Andy, so he went to the wrong PE teacher, who was actually last year's math teacher that he didn't like at all. Hopefully we've resolved some of these problems.

Bunchkin -- how old is your DD in choir? Beauty & The Beast is a great show for kids.

Paintnolish -- Greg wants to major in jazz (if we let him, he would postpone college and try to tour, but that's not happening right now). He's looking at Northern or DePaul. A couple of other schools have come on the radar, but aren't serious contenders. He should have a great senior year -- he's excited about his classes, he's involved in way too much.

I need a job! If you know of anything in the McHenry county/Elgin area, could you let me know? Admin, marketing, almost anything.. hubby's company is going under quickly.

Hope all are managing through these first days of school!

Erin

:cool1: Happy dance! :cool1: DME tags arrived today! I'm SOOOO ready to go - NOW!! (Well, except for packing!) :rotfl:

 all! :welcome: new Chicagoans! :thumbsup2

Good morning

What a way to start the kids back at school. I hope everyone is staying dry. It sure is soggy out there.

The boy child is in the shower now. I alas the queen decided he gets the early shift in the bathroom. It is so I can keep my routine.;):surfweb:

The dogs are not sure what to make of this. They aren't use to Alex being up and active this early.

Kim I love when the ME tags come it mean the trip is sooo much closer.:cheer2:

Have a good day everyone

What a soggy morning here :umbrella:

Stephanie's open house at her school is tonight, and I'm really looking forward to going. Kevin and I both went to this same school, and I'm curious on how much it's changed in the last 25 years - it should be interesting!!!

HERSEY - Bummer about Alex missing the bus - hopefully today will be better :wizard:
Did he enjoy his first day of HS?:teacher:

erin - I hope Andy has a better and smoother day today :wizard:

Kim - That's great about the tags coming:woohoo:When are you leaving?

Well, I gotta go get ready for work, and then get the kiddos up
Have a good day!!!

:welcome:To all our new friends. Please visit with us often,

:umbrella: Had enough of this!!! I just knew Tues was going to be our last pool day.:sad1:

Kids are off to their first full day of school. Guess I should do some :laundy:and perhaps a few dishes and maybe sweep. Thought I'd mop, but.......:rolleyes1
OMG, Good Morning America has a fashion lady talking-she says the 80's are back!:scared1:I'm OK with the IZOD shirts, Boat shoes, that sort of stuff, but shoulder pads? And I couldn't do the big hair then, I sure won't go there now!!!:lmao:

Slo, how was catching the bus this morning?

Hersey, I know what you mean about the dogs. Tiggs just looked at me this morning as if to say "What the hec* are you doing up?" I disturbed his slumber time.:laughing:Of course, he proceeded to go back to sleep after the kids left.

KimRaye, thanks for reminding me that I need to call about my flight info to set up DME. I love when travel stuff arrives in the mail!!

Erin, hope your DS has a better time at school today.

Bunchkin, I wish we lived close enough to walk/bike to school. I used to love to do that as a kid. Sounds like Lauren will have a nice year. Send me some of your nice warm weather. I feel the SAD coming on already and the summer season isn't even up yet.

Well, better get some work done today.:rolleyes1
Later

Morning guys! Ugh, not a big fan of this grey rainy weather. Add to that the morning stress and I'm ready to climb back into bed and pull the covers over my head.

DH is out of town for work, beautiful Omaha, NE. Continue to have bus issues. I was expecting them yesterday since it was the first day and I wasn't disappointed. ;) Today the bus was 15min late which meant the girls were late since I had to wait for the bus before I could leave. They were none too happy to be late on the 2nd day of school. :sad2: I'll give the bus one more day to get his act together and then I'm calling, it's only going to get worse once we're dealing with winter weather.

Tiggerrn - yikes, 80s fashion is back in?! I'm with you on the shoulder pads, big hair, Madonna look, etc - hope that doesn't reappear.
*The SAD is definitely already setting in here, between the stress of the morning and grey day I can feel it coming.......:headache:

slo - have fun at open house, we've got a couple weeks until ours. How is the bus working out? Better I hope.....

Hersey - sorry Alex missed the bus, we are not morning people here either!

Kim - yeah on the DME tags! Getting documents in the mail makes everything seem so much more real! Oh how I wish we were going on a vacation soon!

erin - sorry to hear Andy is having a rough start to school, I hope it improves soon!

Bunchkin - I wish we lived close enough to walk/ride bikes to school. Even if the girls went to public school they'd be bussed as our school is across railroad tracks.
*Best of luck to Lauren on her busy year. DD7 wanted to joing the childrens choir at our church but practices are on the same day as dance.

paint - no spelling lists yet here, we'll have to see what comes home in the backpacks today. Probably not until next week though, the girls only had 1hr yesterday, 1/2 day today and full day tomorrow. DSs class is still doing assesments.
*Have fun in TX this weekend!

Beastlover - Welcome! Join in any time!

:wave2: to everyone else! Hope you're all staying dry!

Well, I guess I should start cleaning and laundry now that I'm "free" at least until 11:40a. ;) Have a great day everyone! :flower3:

:cool1: Happy dance! :cool1: DME tags arrived today! I'm SOOOO ready to go - NOW!! (Well, except for packing!) :rotfl:

 all! :welcome: new Chicagoans! :thumbsup2

YEA!~~ I am dancing with ya sister.., I got mine too!!! I am really going!!

Greg started his senior year today -- he's very excited about it, I'm not so excited about him going away to college next year.

- Erin

Congrats on his state win with the band.. what does he play?? Hope he has fun.. just dropped my oldest off at College for the first time.. YIKES! but he was ready for it.. not me ..oh well..

Eric's band is playing at the battle of the bands in Barrigton Saturday..

Geffric -- what band does Eric play in? The Arboretum invited The con Men to play -- sounds like they didn't get as many bands as they had hoped for - -but our guys passed, they've got stuff (individually) going on this weekend. Greg is hoping to get to that event, tho, so I can let him know who to look for. Greg is our band's lead/rhythm guitar and lead singer (also the band's front man). Good luck to Eric's band!

Rain rain go away....

Hi gang! I wrote a post earlier in the week explaining why I had been MIA and poof it was gone! So...I was in Albuquerque last week with ds and dh on a business/fun trip. I worked and the guys had fun. I did get in some fun in Santa Fe and got to do a little hiking.

Some of you might or might not remember that I fired my cleaning lady in December because I was certain she stole from us - ds ipod, ds gift cards, new Wii game, Well... dh calls me today and tells me she is in the police blotter for theft! So sad...her husband gambles, the kids have been in trouble and in school and she was probably stealing to support her family.

DS has survived the first 3 days of school. He overslept today and dh had to drive him. Might be a long year.

Hi to the newbies here! Please join us often.

Back to work!

Major sinus headache for me today! Gosh, I feel like someone is just taking a chisel to my forehead!!!! :headache:

DD and I were so excited this afternoon when we looked at her school calendar and saw she has Friday the 4th off. We thought we could get another day in at Disneyland. But then I looked at DS's schedule and he doesn't have the day off!!! What the heck! I'm so used to the old school district giving everyone the same days off that I thought DS would have off too.

momto1 I don't remember you mentioning about the cleaning lady, but I'm really sorry to hear what she did to your family.

irishdancer I hope the bus schedule works out.
I've been to Omaha......boring!!!

Tigg I'd like to send you at least 30 degrees of my warm weather!!! The car said it was 103 this afternoon when I picked up Hunter from school.

erincon My DD is in 6th grade/11 yrs old. And their production of Beauty and the Beast is to be a HUGE deal!!! Their director is also a profession performer. He's currently in the Lion King here in Vegas. The sets for the B and the B are coming from California.
BTW, both Roosevelt and Elhurst colleges have a good jazz program. My sister went to both schools for jazz.

hersey How is Alex liking school so far??

Well, it's 8pm here. Time to get the kids headed toward bed.

Good morning

So far Alex is liking school and most of his teachers. He just doesn't like the schedule high schoolers are on, buses before 7:00 in the morning.

Where is all this rain coming from? Rain rain please go away.

Bunchkin I can't believe you are still having such warm ok hot temps!
The nights are getting quite cool here. How is your FIL?

momto1 WOW about your cleaning lady.

Tigggg Are you done mopping your floors yet? Mine are pretty muddy from the dogs. I could leave the key so you can mop away here ;)

I had better do some power drinking of coffee this morning I feel like slipping back into bed.

This weather is absolutly ridiculous!!!!:sad2:
I told Kevin that we should cover the pool - what's the point having it open anymore. I only went in the pool 3 times this year - 3 times!!!:sad2: This has been such a bad summer when it comes to nice hot weather.

Bare with this facebook friends :upsidedow
Last night I chipped 2 teeth while eating dinner. I accidentally bit down on my fork, and instantly chipped 2 front teeth - one top and one bottom. The bottom one is so chipped that it will need to be capped. Luckily, the top one isn't noticeable to others, but it is to me, and I can really feel the chip with my tongue - hopefully that can be filed down. I was so upset last night, and I'm still very not happy today. Who chips their teeth on a fork while eating - I feel like such an idiot!!!!:headache::headache:

Tig - I hope your kids had a good first day at school.
**Catching the bus was fine - my neighbor took our girls (their dd and Katie) to the bus stop in their car - it was really wet out there :umbrella:

ID - Our bus issues have resolved, and the bus has been coming at a consistent time:thumbsup2
**I hope your bus issues resolve soon too:wizard:

geffric - Happy Belated Bday!!!! :cake:
I hope you had a good birthday on Wednesday (right, I think it was Wed?)

erin - :wave2:

momto1 - How sad about the cleaning lady:guilty:, but it's good you believed she was stealing so you could get rid of her before she stole more. I bet you were so upset when you noticed those items missing.

Bunchkin - I hope you feel better today:wizard:

HERSEY - I"m glad Alex is liking HS:) I don't blame him on the schedule, and I'm sure I'll go through that with my girls too. The HS bus comes to our bus stop at 6:15am - that's just crazy!!!!

Time to get Sleeping Beauty Katie out of bed
Have a good day!!!

Slo -- so sorry to hear about your fork incident! Teeth things are the worst. Hope it can be taken care of easily!

Bunchkin -- the B&B production sounds like fun! I hope she enjoys it. Thanks for the mentions of Elmhurst and Roosevelt -- he's not interested in Roosevelt -- a good friend goes there in jazz, but it's too small for him; and we've looked at Roosevelt, not sure where he is with that.

If anybody is interested, I'm on Facebook -- Erin Conrad (there's a picture of me with Tigger, for ID purposes).

Try to stay dry!

Erin

Hi everyone!! Just back from a business trip to NYC. Flew out early Monday morning and got back in last night. Always good to be home. Was staying in Times Square. So, the first day, I had free time and was looking for lunch. Figured I'd go check out the Stage Deli. Ordered a sandwich, one beer and a slice of cheesecake. Bill came and it was $43!! I couldn't believe it! Turns out the sandwich alone was $22. The cheesecake was $10.

I mentioned it to my colleagues later that evening and they all laughed and pointed out to me that it's one of the local tourist traps.

After lunch, I walked to the World of Disney and picked up a NYC Disney shirt for CarolAnnC. I swear, I do more walking when in NYC than I do the entire rest of the year at home. LOL!!

Who chips their teeth on a fork while eating - I feel like such an idiot!!!!

LOL! I've done that before. Fortunately, I haven't chipped my teeth though. But I know how you feel. :confused3

Hi gang! TGIF! And, I don't have much planned this weekend. Would be a good time to tackle the yard but I am sure I am not that motivated.

Why is fall here so soon? I am so sad that we didn't really didn't have some hot weather this summer. I like it hot!

My summer intern's last day is today. She goes back to college tomorrow. She was such a great worker and so sweet. We will miss her.

Slo - I am so sorry about your teeth. Not fun!

Bunchkin - Did your headache go away? Sinus headaches are no fun! I would have thought the schools would have been on the same schedule, too. Another day in DL would have been great!

Hi to everyone else! Have a great weekend!
Lori
