Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Football.. I guess fall is here 'cause the high school has its first football game..i have a lot of boys in the basement getting ready for the game..:3dglasses

Slo I have broken a tooth eating a bagel. Don't ask it was not fun. I was pregnant at the time and the goofy dentist wasn't going to give me anesthesia. I just calming asked how much he liked his parts:rotfl:

John NYC is soo expensive. When I was there we went to Carngie deli.

a brief check in for me.

i left last week the day after my birthday to go to my parental units house.
i stayed longer than planned, came back wednesday night.

i'll be going back to st louis area this coming thursday again.
not sure how long i will be out of town.

i see we have noobies.
:welcome::welcome: aboard!

Hi guys! TGIF! Well, I started a post a long time ago but had to start dinner and one of the kid used my window for gaming so all is lost.....

Today was the first day everyone was in school for a full day - yeah! DD7s bday is tomorrow so she brought doughnuts to school for her treats. DD12 got her bball uniform, new ones!! DS is off to a bit of a rough start but I expected that, he changed schools and they are mainstreaming him for 3 classes. These three classes are back to back so he is expected to sit for nearly 2.5 hrs, he's not liking it and giving them a hard time.

mac - I'm glad your trip to/from St. Louis was safe, hope this new one is too!

geffric - yikes! Football already?! Our HS field is under construction until 9/30 so we won't have any games until after that. Wonder where they're playing.....:confused3

momto1 - my yard needs some TLC too, not looking forward to that either.
*That's so sad about your cleaning lady, how did she ever think she'd get away with it. At some point people will notice.

Crissup - wow, and people complain WDW is expensive! Our family of 5 can get a CS meal for that amount!!

slo - ouch! I never would have thought you could do that just by biting a fork - yikes!
*Well, the bus arrived at 8:15 Wed, 8:10 Thu and 7:40 today!! Poor DS was just settling in for a bit of TV when DH called down that the bus was out front. :sad2: Luckily we were ready, normally we wouldn't have been. Driver claims 7:40a will be his new time, we'll see.....

Hersey - wow, that is an early bus time. I saw something last year about teens needing more sleep and how their school schedules don't work with that.

Bunchkin - I hope your headache is better today!
*What a bummer about the school schedule. You'd think all the schools in the district would follow the same schedule.

Well, I think I'm going to go bake DDs cake so I can decorate it tomorrow. She wants a Minnie Mouse themed cake, I've found pics of some cute ones online....now if I can create something resembling one of them I'll be amazed. ;)

Have a great night all! :flower3:

We had such a nice night last night hanging out with our neighbors/friends. We had no intention of hanging out all night - it just happened, which is what I love so much about our relationship with our neighbors. Everything just happens, and when it does, it's so informal, which I love even more. We get some food, throw up some tables, and just relax - it's just great!!!!! The only bad thing about last night was the temperature - it was freezing outside!!! :cold: We were out until midnight, and we could see our breath - it was crazy!!! The kids had on hats, and I had to put on gloves, it was so weird for August!!! I'll never forget it!!!

Thanks everyone for you thoughts and concerns about my teeth issues. I had good news about them yesterday. I called a dentist I know, and asked him to come to the store and take a look at them, and he did. He said that he could file down the top tooth, and put some type of bonding on the bottom tooth - he felt capping was unnecessary right now. I was so grateful for his advice, and I'm making an appointment for him to fix me up ASAP. He couldn't help but chuckle about what happened, and asked me what I had for dinner that night, because it must have been really good:laughing:

erin - I'll have to remember to look you up on facebook:)

Crissup - I can't get over the bill for your lunch  :faint:

momto1 - I have a lot of yardwork to do too, but I'm not motiviated to do it either :sad2: I agree with you about the hot weather - I like it hot also. Oh well, maybe next year {{fingers crossed}}

geffric - Wow, the first football game already, it's seems to soon, but I guess it is the end of August.

HERSEY - I'm glad you mentioned the bagel, because I eat those, and that would probably be bad for me to chew before my tooth is fixed. That stinks about it happening to you when you were pregnant:guilty:

Mac - Happy belated bday!!! :cake:

ID - Happy Bday to your DD!!! :cake: I hope you she has a great day today!!!

Well, I gotta run and get ready for work
Have a good Saturday everyone!!!

Slo You have a dentist that makes house calls? Glad you had a great evening. I agree this weather is very strange. It got pretty cold last night.

I see the sun peaking out today that might be a good sign. Well I better go and start cleaning my floors. I almost feel like I need to scrape the mud off them :rolleyes1.

Morning guys! So glad it is a bit brighter outside, would like it a bit warmer but I do like "sweatshirt weather" just not this early in the season.

Well, my baby turns 8 today! Where does the time go. We're having family over this afternoon for cake. She's going to Navy Pier with my Sis tonight for a Guatemalan dance troupe and fireworks. We'll do dinner and cake with the inlaws tomorrow.

I booked HHI this morning for the week before Easter! We decided WDW wasn't in the cards next year but HHI is more manageable costwise. We went to HHI two years ago and had a great vaca, very relaxing and the kids had a blast. The girls will miss three days of school but I'm hoping it won't be and issue. With the kids at different schools they don't have vaca or days off the same except for Christmas.

slo - so glad you got good news on the teeth!

Hersey - the sky is actually blue here, bring on the sun!

mac - happy belated birthday!! Hope it was a great one!!

Well, I'm off to get a ticker and finish DDs bday cake. Have a great day everyone! :flower3:

You guys are having temps I just love!!!
It is still soooo hot here. 109 today!

I decided to leave DS in school this coming Friday and stay at DL until Monday. We were going to leave on Sunday night. Now we'll just leave around lunch time Monday.
DH won't be coming with however. He'll actually be by you all. He's taking his dad to town to visit relatives like he wanted to.
The whole situation is just so screwy!!!

My sinus headache is still hanging around and now I also have some terrible neck pain too.

slo We used to sit out with our old neighbors all the time at night too during the summer and fall. Lots of fun!

Hersey FIL is a total handful!! It's like dealing with another child. He has no concept of anything!!!!!!

mac Happy belated birthday to you!!! :cake: :flower3:

momto1 Did ya get to doing any yard work?

irish dancer HHI sounds like it will be great!!
Happy birthday to your daughter!!!! :cake: :cutie:

Crissup That was one pricey lunch!!!! Did you see the naked cowboy dude?

thank you bunchie and the other homies for the belated birthday wishes.

i just came back from church.
your backs are all covered for the week.......:goodvibes

Sorry I didn't come on yesterday - I try not to on Sundays anymore.
I like to get up and read the paper and drink my coffee - it's a nice way to start Sundays:) I normally like to do this outside, but it was so chilly yesterday morning, that I had to stay inside. Speaking of this chilly weather, Kevin and I decided to close up the pool this week (well, he'll be doing it):guilty: We agreed that it's sensless to keep dumping chemicals and electricity into a pool that's not being used. The water is now 71 degrees, and even if we had a hot day, the water would be to cold to get in to, so it's time to close it:sad1: Hopefully next year will be hotter {{fingers crossed}}.

HERSEY - This dentist did a house call for me (he doesn't do this normally). My normal dentist (the one I've gone to since 4 years old) doesn't have very good hours anymore. I called on Friday at 1pm, and the office was already closed (I think he's on the verge of retirement). So I called a dentist I know in town (he the president of our Chamber of Commerce) and asked him if he could stop by the store on the way to lunch, because I did damage to my mouth. He said he wasn't going to lunch, but he will come anyway and take a look. He knows how strapped I am to the store, because I work alone 90% of the time. So he came with his dental tools, and really took a good look - I was very grateful. I think I'm going to move all my records to him, because he has hours in some evenings, and Saturdays, which is what I need. I love my old dentist, but his hours are just not good for me.

ID - Happy bday to your DD!!! :cake:
**What is HHI? I can't figure it out

Bunchkin - You should get that headache checked out, because you could have a sinus infection. One of the signs of a sinus infection is a sore/stiff neck. When I had my sinus infection, my neck hurt so bad - I couldn't believe it:headache: Some antibiotics made me feel better within a couple of days. The climate change could really be screwing with your system. I hope you feel better soon:wizard:
**I'm sorry to hear about Tony not coming with to DL:guilty:, but what a good son he is to his dad:)

Crissup and Mac - :wave2:

Well, it's about that time to get Katie up and ready for school :teacher:
She's not easy to wake up at all :sad2:Stephanie is much easier.

Have a good day!!!

Afternoon guys! Well, it's Monday.......kids first full week of school and most likely homework. :scared: Had a very productive morning, vacuumed, worked out at the YMCA, load for the day is in the dryer, got nephew to/from school and fed him lunch. Taking a few minutes to surf. :surfweb:

mac - not a fan of Mondays here either, especially now that school has started.

slo - what a bummer about the pool, we didn't get much use of our pool passes either this year only went a handful of times.
*HHI is Disney's Hilton Head Island resort. It's like Disney without the parks, they have lots of kids and adult activities.

Bunchkin - I agree with slo, you might want to get that headache checked out.
*Tood bad DH won't be with you in DL, he is such a good son to take his dad to Chciago for the visit. Something tells me your SIL wouldn't do the same....

:wave2: to everyone else. Hope all is well with those that haven't been around lately!

OK, need to take the dog for a walk and fold the laundry load that just buzzed. Even though it's a bit cool outside it is such a beautiful day! Enjoy the sunshine everyone! :flower3:

Hi gang! As I suspected - no yard work for me last weekend! Nothing! I just wasn't motivated to tackle the mess that has taken over my yard.

We went to the Jackhammers game last night with a group from my mom's church. She treated for tickets and the pregame buffet. It was a nice time and the Jackhammers won at the very last at bat. The highlights though was my son was selected to be the guest announcer during the 6th inning! He did a great job but unfortunately he only got to announce 3 Jackhammers as they all got out. I always thought he would be a great announcer with his gift of gab and his baseball trivia knowledge. Maybe he will think so, too, now.

Mac - Agreed about Mondays. Happy Belated Birthday. Have fun in St. Louis.

Slo - Your dentist gives a new meaning to house calls. I think in your case they are store calls. Bummer about closing your pool but I totally agree on not spending the money on chemicals and electric if you aren't going to get to use.

ID - How did the Minnie Mouse cake turn out? Happy Birthday to your baby!

Hi to everyone else!

Lori

Evening all! Had a beautiful day here. Walked the dog, did some :laundy:vacuumed, mopped kitchen floor, dishes, then went to visit my mom. After school, kids and I rode bikes to the ice cream place about 2 miles from our house-they close Labor Day so it was like the last Hurrah! :sad1:Home to finish :laundy:and get kids ready for bed.
DD brought home her gym uniform today-it fits me!!:scared1:I had her take my photo in her uniform and emailed it to the principal and politely asked if I could go out and find her something more appropriate. (for those of you who've met my 6th grade DD, you know she is 3rd grade sized) And they require no sagging, bagging, or dragging. I think they need to take their own policies more to heart.

Mac and ID DD :bday: Hope you had a great day!!

Slo, hope you are able to get those teeth like new soon. I totally understand closing the pool. I do not see any more dips in our future.:sad2:

Bunchkin, of course Tony is wonderful-you'd never have married him otherwise, right?! I bet you and the kids have a terrific time at DL. I hope the fires aren't bothering the air quality there too bad by the weekend. Our friends that live 20 minutes north of there have said the winds are not blowing the smoke by them yet. But they can sure see the big clouds of smoke up in the air.

momto1, sounds like you had a great weekend.:woohoo:YardSchmard. It'll still be there next weekend.:rolleyes1At least that's what I always say.

Crissup, the price you paid for that meal would've put me 6 feet under!

Hello to Hersey, DG, Paint, and everyone else. Hope you all have a beautiful week.

It's 5:30am and it's dark and cold - I feel like it's October
I waiting to hear if we broke any records for temp last night.

School has been great for getting Katie to bed early.
She's always so tired at the end of the day, that she goes to bed w/o any arguements. Last night I had her in bed by 8pm - I couldn't even tell you the last time she was in bed that early:upsidedow.

I"m getting my teeth fixed tonight :woohoo:
My appoiintment is at 5:30pm - I"m so excited!! My tongue is sore from rubbing against the roughness of this tooth, and I am so paranoid about the the tooth breaking more. I'll let you know how it all goes tomorrow.

ID - Thanks for letting me know what HHI is - I've heard of that before, but I don't know that much about it. When you go, will you bring home some information for me? I would like to know more about it.

momto1 - That's awesome about your son being selected to do the announcing. Was he nervous about it, or did he feel comfortable while doing it?

TTTTTiiiiiiggggggernnnnnnn - That's so funny about the gym uniform:rotfl: Did you get any response from the principal?

Bunchkin - How are you feeling today?

Mac - :wave2:

Well, I gotta go get ready for my Leads group today
As much as I enjoy going, it's always so hard to get up and there by 7:20am.

Have a good day!!!

Morning! Got back from TX on Sunday but was busy doing homework all day yesterday! The weekend was okay...dh's friend just is at a different point in his life, let's just say that. He really likes to go ut and bar hop. That's okay, occassionaly. I did manage to get to the museum during their football draft and after that dh and I went to dinner. Then, it was pub crawl...soooo happy to be home!
Gotta run, though. Lots to do before school (for me and the dcs!)!

Good Afternoon Everyone! :flower3: I'm so sorry for my absence the past week or so. I've just been so busy and stressed out lately. Our trip is in under 3 weeks and I feel so unprepared. I was sick this past weekend so I didn't get anything i wanted to get done accomplished. I started making a list of things to do and things we need to get at WDW for the wedding trip (ie maps for our welcome bags, 1st timer buttons for my nephews, another pearl from Japan so I can make earrings for the wedding) Also, i should post this on the theme park board but does anybody know if there is a map out there with all the pressed penny locations? i started my collection last year when we were there but couldn't always find the machines.

ID ~ hope the kids don't get too much homework their first full week back!

momto1 ~ where are these Jackhammer games? I've heard of them but never have been to one. They sound fun!

Tigg ~ you sure did get alot accomplished yesterday:thumbsup2

Slo ~ glad to hear Katie is getting to bed early! Glad to hear you are able to get your tooth fixed today! Good luck:wizard:

Paint ~ glad your trip went well. Good luck with classes this semester!

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day!
