Calling all Chicago DISers #3

KIm - have you worked out with MAC a time to meet? Wanna join us when we meet up with CarolAnn??
Haven't worked anything out exactly, just gave her my days and parks. I think the 4th or 6th at MK was KINDA decided upon, at some point one of those days. :confused3 Would love to see CarolAnn again but, if she's arriving 10/8 and doing MNSSHP that night, it's our last night and we'll be at the Studios. :sad1:

:surfweb:

For everyone that's on Facebook - I found this application called Scramble. It's kinda like Boggle (if you know that game) and you can compete against other Facebook people. I've really become addicted to it, and have realized there are many words in the dictionary that I have no idea about  Give it a try sometime - you may like it :)

I had a great day on Sunday.
I attempted to float in the pool, and then my sun went away.
I still stayed outside with the girls, and just relaxed on the pool deck :)
It was a nice day!!!! :goodvibes

Yesterday I worked and then Stephanie had soccer practice.
She's really enjoying soccer again, and I hope she does well, because she can get frustrated pretty easily. She's never been the try try again type person (I wish she was, because this frustrates me, because I am a keep trying type of person).

paint - Yep, I was a frog:confused3

erincon - :welcome:
Please come by often and visit - we would love to have you!!!:)

geffric - Happy 16th bday to Eric :cake:

TTTTTTTigern - Yes we did go. The fest was at our church, so we always like going to this one :thumbsup2 The wristbands are cheaper than other fests, which is nice - they were $15.

CarolAnn - good to see you!!! :)

Rose - Good luck to your kids in their new school:wizard:. Stephanie starts middle school too, but she is just in 5th grade - the 5th graders go to middle school in this area - I don't really like this:sad2:

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I gotta run - busy day today.
Leads group first, than Katie's bus orientation second, work third, come home and inhale my dinner fourth, Katie's kindergarten orientation fifth, and then I finally get to come home and stay home :faint:
These type of days always fly by so fast - which is good and bad.

Have a good day everyone!!

Hi everyone! :flower3: sorry i haven't been posting as much lately. my computer here at work as been on the fritz the past couple weeks and is now just a big fat headache to work on.:headache: it keeps randomly closing programs on me and then by about 3 or 4pm it just slows down and stops responding. i've called IT and they are going to switch it out this Friday while I'm off. I have it marked on my desk calendar as "computer goes to rehab" i hope my replacement is better! Which leads me to... I HAVE FRIDAY OFF!! woohoo. my nephews bday is on saturday so i volunteered to help my sis (who doesn't bake often) make cupcakes on thursday night for him to bring to school on friday. then on friday my sis and i are going to breakfast and getting our hairs cut! then i'm gonna help her get the house cleaned and what not for the party this weekend. i'm making the cake. it's elmo themed! last year was mickey themed. oh, and i need to get a new muffler for my car... mine is rusting through my dad said. he used some wire to hold it up temporarily until i can get it to midas. oy. i hope it makes it til friday! ok, now that i've rambled enough...

Slo ~ i'll have to look that game up. i dont' know how to play boggle but i'm sure i'll figure it out!

Geffric ~ where does Goeff go to school? U of Iowa or just in Iowa? I went to Luther which is in northeast iowa... i liked iowa... it's like a whole nother world compared to the hustle and bustle of chicago!

Erin ~ welcome to the thread! how do you play along with millionaire... just on the website? i love that game!

well, i need to get back to work.:rolleyes1 have a nice day everyone! :flower3:

DG - Geoff will be going to Cornell College in MT Vernon ,IA..( which is suburban Cedar Rapids) 20 minutes from U of Iowa..

Well today is another day.. went to Meals on Wheels this am.. Geoff is off helping a friend move, Eric is reading and then has plans with DG to go to the pool . I bought luncheon meat and french bread for them to have a picnic.. I called DH and said it is just us tonight..

Erin Welcome and no I didn't attend Hersey. Actually my screen name is mistyped it should read Hershey like the chocolate or the name of my dog. My old compute keyboard used to stick something terrible leading me to be Hersey forever now.:rotfl2:

Geffric Happy belated birthday to Eric :cake:

I just did a small add on my DVC. I couldn't resist the offer :rolleyes1 Disney sales are my downfall. See what happens when you pay off some credit cards?

We went back to the High school so someone can walk through his schedule. I need a nap now that school is soo big.

I hope everyone is doing well.:flower3:

Hi gang!

Picked up the kids new glasses today. New pair for Lauren and Hunter's first pair. He needs his just for reading/school work and computers. In a family full of near sighted people, he's far sighted. :confused3

DH gave his sister an ear full this past Saturday. She's pushed us too far. Neither I nor the kids went with DH to his dad's house to spread his mom's ashes. And I'm glad. His sister made a speech, which she printed out for all to read along I guess, and it was filled with hate, jealousy, and spite.
Even in the end she still has to be a mental case towards their mom.
Did I ever mention that she didn't even come into town during their mom's last days. We asked her to come visit for ONE NIGHT while we were in Disneyland the week before she passed, but she said she was TOO BUSY and couldn't change her plans. Guess what she did that was all too important???
She went to see the new Harry Potter movie with their friends!! I found this out on her husband's blog.:mad:

slo Have you played Uno on Facebook? I like that game!
I'll have to look for the one you mentioned.

disneygal Sounds like you'll have your hands full this weekend and your sister is going to owe you one for all your hard work! :thumbsup2

mac Thanks for the tv times! I like that Ft. Wilderness one!

geffric I can remember my parents complaining to me how I was never home for dinner and was never around much.

Hersey Where have you been hiding? And your Facebook page is starting to show signs of cobwebs!!

:flower3:Evening all!! Just flying by. Thought I'd run my "finalized" plans by everyone here and see what you all think...

Tues 20th-AK in the morning, BOMA at 4:30, MNSSHP til close

Thurs.22nd-Epcot day. Segway Tour, F&W snacking, LeCellier 7:35 PM
Fri morning - anything wonderful we may want to repeat
Well, interested in any comments, suggestions, put downs....:rolleyes1
Bunchkin, I wish all the best to your family. And may your DSIL get hers some day. I've always known in my heart it is true that "What goes around..."
Everyone else, hope you are having a great week so far. Need to get off to bed. We're trying to get back on the school schedule. That means, kids are in bed early and (unfortunately for me)up early, too.

Evening, ladies! I feel safe saying that since I haven't sen Crissup on here for awhile! Today was my first full day of classes. So far, they seem really great. I have 3 Eng. classes and 1 Psch. class. The Eng. teachers seem really nice but I don't know about the Psych. teacher. She basically told all the Ed. students to expect this class to be difficult since it is technically a 300 level course outside of our majors. I have to take it, though, for my middle school endorsement. I also just got done buying the majority of my books on Amazon but still have to pick up a fat textbook tomorrow for the aforementioned Psych. class. It should be around $100, at least! :scared1:
Tig- Looks great! Love Epcot "beverages" and always wanted to do the Segway. Should be fun!
Bunchkin- Sorry you're dealing with this! Congrats on ds's glasses. My ds has had then since 1st gr. and he isn't too hard on them. They gotten knocked off of his face once in gym and then stepped on by the biggest kid in class!:rotfl2: They were a little bent!
Dgal- Sometimes I hate computers, especially when my highly technical attempts at fixing things do not work. Wanna' know my secret? I turn it off and then back on. Yeah. That's how I fix all electronics!:rotfl2:
Erin- Welcome! I love gameshows but mostly trivia ones, like Millionaire or Jeopardy. DH and I play Trivial Pursuit on the Wii. Wild and crazy, we are!

Slo, ID, Rose, Kim, Gef...everyone...hi!
And bye...tomorrow is the kiddos' first day so I should get some rest, too!

Well, the day I've been dreading is finally here!!!!:guilty:
My baby is starting kindergarten today :guilty:
Why does time have to go by so fast, and why do our kids have to grow up?
She is very excited and nervous at the same time (more nervous). Luckily, her friend, and our neighbor, is in the same class with her. So they are riding the bus together, eating lunch together, and everything else - so that's a good thing!!!!:thumbsup2

Stephanie has a first day too. Her first day is at the middle school. She is so EXCITED because she has a locker now:cool1:I can't believe that she's in middle school, but with her being so excited, it's makes it easier for me to accept:upsidedow

DG - I"m glad you are enjoying the Scramble game on FB :)
**That's great about the 3 day weekend!!!:cool1:

geffric - I hope you are able to get your family together soon to have a nice meal out together :wizard:

Bunchkin - I"m so glad Tony said something to her - she makes me do this:headache: and I don't even know her.
**I love UNO - I will look that up - thanks!!!:)

Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigern - Your ADR's look great!!!:thumbsup2

paint - Good luck with your new schedule :wizard:

HERSEY - Good luck to Alex starting HS:wizard:

Mac - :wave2:

Well, I'm off to get Katie out of bed, and get her lunch made
Have a good day everyone!!

Morning everyone!!
Slo, :hug:for your missing Katie. I must confess, I never had the sadness when my kids went off to school. They were both excited, so I guess that made it easy for me.
Kellie is very excited to have a locker this year as well. I think that is the ONLY thing she is excited by for return to school.:laughing:She has a locker caddy and a dry erase board with colored markers for her friends to write notes on to her. We don't start until next week though, so this week is refreshing memory on multiplication facts week and getting back into the school schedule week. I feel bad for your kids going back so early. It is finally nice enough to enjoy the pool!
Paint, for your psych class, don't answer any question with the answer you would give, just answer it with the one that you would never think could possibly be the right answer!:lmao:JK I did very well in psych for nursing classes. I could always imagine what answer "they" were looking for.:rolleyes1Not sure what that tends to say about me.
Rose, good luck to your kids headed off to a new school this year!
DG, you sound like you have a busy rest of your week.
Mac, you're just flying in and out! :upsidedow How's the weather up there? Looks like you may have gotten some rainy cooler weather.
Hi Erin. I haven't checked out any of the games. I was a game show junkie as a kid. Loved to stay home sick from school watching Wheel of Fortune, Family Fued, Price is Right, Card Sharks and the Whammie game (can't recall the name of that show-Big Money No Whammies!!!!)
Well, guess I'd better get some of :laundy:done today. Kids want to go the library later and then DD has :dance3:.

Hi everyone. I haven't been on here in forever. I do have it set to send me e-mails on postings, so I at least READ.

I don't post much as nothing is going on in my life. :lmao:

I was just reading all the back to school posts & wanted to give slo a hug for her baby starting Kindergarten. Mine is doing so this year too, although I'm pretty excited about it. He drives me crazy at home asking when his siblings are going to return otherwise.

We start next week. Today we go get DD's real schedule, books & I have got to ask about Driver's Ed. (she might be 18 by the time we can figure it all out). Then DS-12 has locker set-up this afternoon.

Wish me luck, I'm more freaked out that DS-12 wants to do wrestling this year. YUCK. I talked him out of it last year but made him a deal if he did a camp at the HS and still wanted to do it, he could do it this year. Bummer, he loved it. My kid is in the 10% for weight for his age -- I know they do weight classes but still freaks me out since basically he's not strong -- YIKES...I can see him getting thrown around easily. :scared1:

DD has not been doing any sports this summer & that has been nice but we were still amazingly enough busy.

Good Wednesday Morning Chicagoland Homies :goodvibes

slo....

I'm just the opposite of all the moms here.

This is the first year I have not had a kid in skool and very excited !!

That means college is done for all 4 boys.....
I feel like we got a pay raise now:rolleyes1

nothing going on today for me.
a blah day ahead.

I have to go to St Louis area tomorrow and help with my parents.
I will be gone until probably Monday or Tuesday next week.
I'll post the tv show listing when I return.

No computer at the folks house.
The live in the dark ages......

Hope all have a good day.

I'm still wishing for summer weather.
Like Tiiigggeeerrrnnnnn said, we don't have the sunshine here...

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: I'm going to borrow Tigg's idea on getting opinions for our trip coming up. I'm not sure why, but I feel very unprepared for our trip. So without further ado... here is our schedule. Let me know what you think:goodvibes
Monday 9/21 ~ arrive at MCO at noon. ASmu around 2 or 3. check in, go to room, get to Epcot for 545 ressie at Biergarten. (last year we had a 630 adr and nearly missed illuminations so we bumped it up a bit)
Tuesday 9/22 ~ my BDAY!!:goodvibes 730adr at Chef Mickey's then to MK all day with MNSSHP.
Wednesday 9/23 ~ hair and make up trial at 10am. adr at Sci Fi at 125?? i'll have to double check that one. I know it's a lunch ressie though. Then DHS until close at 7pm. We haven't figured out what to do afterwards. any suggestions?
Thursday 9/24 ~ Wedding Planning Session at Franck's. 9am-1pm. WOOHOO! Then to Epcot. 615adr at Rose&Crown. (never been before)
Friday 9/25 ~ AK all day then to Big River Grille for dinner (this is also new for us)
Saturday 9/26 ~ no specific plans yet but our flight takes off at 730pm so i'm assuming we will need to be back at ASmu to catch the ME around 4 or 5:confused3

Geffric ~ I know right where Mt. Vernon is. It's a nice area. :goodvibes

Bunchy ~ so sorry your SIL is such a PITA.

Tigg ~ your plans sound great. :thumbsup2 we really wanted to try Le Cellier on our trip next month but we can't seem to get reservations.:sad2:

Paint ~ Good Luck with all your classes this semester. :wizard:

Slo ~ glad to hear Stephanie is excited about school. I hope Katie has a good day today. It's nice she will have a friend in her class.

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day.

DG, Wednesdays are usually EMH evenings at Epcot. If you wanted, you could catch the boat or take a nice walk from DHS to Epcot after DHS closes for the evening. It's a beautiful walk at night along the river. Epcot should be open til 12AM.
Big River Grille is good! The burgers were awesome! We had some lovely sidewalk entertainment there last summer. Sit outside if it is nice enough and not too hot.
If you still really want LeCellier, don't give up. Keep checking as people cancel all the time. Check online too. I wanted BOMA for Tues and was told no availability. I went online last night to dining res. and got the 4:30 time no problem.

Thanks Tigg for the advice!:thumbsup2 I'll keep checking online for LeCellier. Also, this may be a really silly question but I've never switched parks for EMH...would we need a hopper for that? if so should switch our Wed. and Thurs. plans?

yes, you would need a hopper if you switched parks.

if you do MK in the daytime and plan to go to Epcot for an evening EMH, you would need a hopper.

Yes, you would need a hopper to do that. Sorry. I didn't realize you were not on hoppers.

Yes, you would need a hopper to do that. Sorry. I didn't realize you were not on hoppers.

Thanks for the clarification! :thumbsup2 i get confused very easily:laughing: this is our first trip without hoppers so i don't know all the rules regarding emh and what not. i'll talk with mike tonight about it.

Man, is it hot here!! 105 today!! Not that bad I guess considering there is no humidity to speak of. And it's only this hot mid-afternoon, not all day.

I think we are finally done back to school shopping. Only had a couple things to pick up this afternoon from Target.

Thanks to all for your support where my sister in-law is concerned. :grouphug:
She and her husband are back to blabbering about us on their blogs. Will the madness ever end???????

slo I hope Katie had a good day, and you too. :cutie:

disneygal Your plans sound good to me. We don't hop anymore. We find it easier on us to just stick to one park per day.
Have you been to Sci Fi before? This used to be one of our favs, but have found the quality in food to have gone down in recent years, just our opinion. We usually eat at the 50's Prime Time Cafe.

Tiggerrn Your plans sound good too! Segway tour sounds awesome!
Lauren got a bunch of stuff for her locker too!

mac Hope you have a safe trip and that your parents are doing well.

paint I cannot believe the prices for college books. On GMA yesterday they had a segment about how to save on books and web sites to get them from. I'd check it out.

Gotta run. Taking the kids to Cici's Pizza for dinner as a before going back to school thingy. I do not love their pizza but the kids do. So I'll be forced to be good and hit the salad bar!!
