just a quick drive by.
gotta lose the po po's....

i am being domestic today.
cleaning the dump of a house that i live it.

Hi gang! I have been super busy at work today and am pooped. Unfortunately, I have a meeting until 7 tonight. I don't like long work days.

DG - Hope your are feeling better. Good luck getting everything done for your trip. You will be fine! The Jackhammers play in Joliet. They are now done for the season. Try to get to a game next summer. They are fun.

Slo - Hope the teeth repairs goes smooth. DS said he was nervous but he sure didn't sound like he was.

Tiggern - I was pooped reading your post on all you accomplished yesterday. Good for you! I hope the gym uniform gets resolved. We have to buy ds from a local place. Of course, he needed a new one for his last year in middle school.

Hi to all! Enjoy this beautiful day!
Lori

Slo I am glad you are getting your tooth fixed. I hate it when my tongue keeps messing with stuff in my mouth.

DG Sorry to hear you have been ill. I thought you were off doing something fun.

Mac The police are now making people clean. When did this start those dirty dogs!:lmao:

Tigggg I hope you get your DD uniform issue fixed. I guess you ran out steam before you got to my house and Mac's :rolleyes1

Hi peeps!!

Well, another hot one here today. But the temps are going to start going down on Thurs.
Still lots of smoke in the air, and ash too, from the CA fires. It's totally blowing in our direction. The car, which is parked in the drive way, was covered in a light dusting of ash this morning that I noticed when I went to take the kids to school. I can't imagine what it must be like for people who live closer to the affected area. We are 4 hours away!!

momto1 I love going to Jackhammer games. We lived close enough to hear the fireworks every week. And the neighbors that lived across the street from us always hosted a player at their home every year for the season.
That is really neat-o that your son got to announce!! They do such neat things at the games! :)

slo Hope the tooth repair went well!!! :thumbsup2
I have bad sinuses. I've had a cat scan done on them and was told I could have an operation but it might not be a permanent fix. So I opted not to have it. I think all this ash and smoke in the air here is not helping.

Tiggerrn Does the school have a smaller size or is that the smallest?

disneygal Hope you're feeling well. Sometimes overwhelming stress can make you sick, so try not to stress out too much. Make you list and get done what you can. Any items you missed getting can be ordered and sent to you.

paint So your DH's friend is a party animal? I finished that stage of my life in my early 20's! And I don't think my body could handle another round.:laughing:

Kids are in bed, all is quiet, and DH is playing on the Wii.

The teeth repair went really well last night!!!!:)
The dentist did such an awesome job, that you can't even tell anything happened - it's amazing!!! I was worried that this bonding was going to be whiter than the rest of my teeth, and he made it look exactly the same - just amazing!!!!!:woohoo::yay: Thanks to all that sent good wishes my way:goodvibes

paint - I'm not a bar hopper anymore either :sad2: What type of museum did you go to?

DG - I'm sorry you are stressed out
Put out a brown grocery bag, and everything time you think of something, put it in the bag. Even if it's just a piece of paper with something written on it. This way, you won't stress out as much by feeling pressured to do it all at once. I do this every year, because packing really stressed me out - this has helped me quite a bit!!!!

Mac - My house needs a good cleaning too ::yes::

momto1 - I"m glad you son was able to face his nervousness - that's a good strong quality to have:thumbsup2

HERSEY - Now my tongue is playing with the bonding, because it feels a little different. My poor tongue can't catch a break:upsidedow

Bunchkin - I'm sure you are right about that smoke and ash affecting your sinuses ::yes:: I hope you feel better soon:wizard:

Time to go wake up Katie - this is always a challenge!!!!
Have a good day!!!

Morning all! Still on the hunt to replace DD shorts/T-shirt. It is so not the season now to find shorts.:sad2:I am finding myself going to sporting goods stores now.

DG, take a nice slow deep breath! It will all get done-amazingly enough. And I found the only thing people ever remember about a wedding, is what they ate!:rotfl:Of course, they'll definatley remember your location. All the little stuff, is just little stuff. Noone but you will worry or be disappointed. So smile and enjoy your vacation!

Slo, how wonderful your teeth are just like new.

Bunchkin, hope you are doing OK despite the smoke/ash. It is so strange that the winds are carrying it your way and my friends that live near DL only see the smoke in the sky. At least that means your trip this weekend should be fun and clear.

Paint, welcome home. I'm with the rest of the girls. No barhopping for me anymore either. I'm a 1 drink wonder!:lmao: Then I am asleep.:rolleyes1

Mac and Hersey, sorry I never made it over the other day for the cleaning.:rolleyes1

momto1, how exciting for your son. We went to a game last summer there. I think it is great how they get the kids so involved and have things for them to do during the pauses in the action. Hope you have a more mellow day today.

Well, I had better get my day started. Walk the dog, off to the grocery store, and then to get the kids some school uniforms in long-sleeved and pants variety. Apparently, someone forgot to tell Mother Nature it is summer til the 20th!
Later

Morning. Just finding things to waste my time, further delaying my trip to the gym!:rotfl2: Lots of homewoerk today, too.
Slo- I went to the Natural Science Museum. It was cool but not as cool as the Field Museum. Plus, it beat hanging out with guys at a fantasy football raft!
Slo and Tig- Yeah, bar hopping is not my cup of tea. Or beer. Especially when we've traveled far! I was hoping to see some sights other than bars!
Bunchkin- My body can soooo not handle it. I had 3 drinks over the course of 6 hours (one vodka tonic, a glass of wine with dinner, and a martini). I was totally fine but ended up sick the next morning! It was horrible! I seriously wonder if something is wrong with me. I am 5'9" and wear a size 12. You'd think I could handle that much alcohol! Ugg. I'd prefer to just stay away!
mac- Bad boys! Watcha gonna' do...sorry, you made the Cops theme pop into my head!
DG- I am sure your trip will come together. If you forget anything, I am sure your DIS friends could pick it up for you! I've got your back in Dec.!

Okay, better get the gym out of the way! Later, ladies!

Hi gang! DS missed the school bus for the 2nd time this year. He catches the bus at 6:55 and is having a horrid time getting out of bad. DH drove him and hadhim pay $1 for gas money and the trip. I am not sure money will motivate him to get out of bed, but we will see. Teens and their sleep!

Still trying to get Rose and Crown ADR for 9/30. I have tried every day. I think it might be a lost cause.

slo - glad to hear the teeth bonding went well! Give your tongue a break! Easier said then done, I know.

Paint - Yep, I gave up the bar scene when ds came along. Really, I gave up drinking and driving. I think back and am amazed I am still alive.

Tiggern - good luck to you on the gym suit hunt!

Bunchkin - Hope your sinuses give you a break soon. Wierd about the coating on your car since you are so far away. I guess not so far in Mother Natures eyes, though. Have fun this weekend!

Have a great day everybody!
Lori

Good Afternoon Everyone! :flower3: Thank you all so much for your kind reassurance that everything will be fine! I really do appreciate it and am glad to have friends like you!:goodvibes

momto1~ hope your meeting went well yesterday. Thanks for the info on the Jackhammers. I'll have to check them out next year! Also, I hear ya on the ADR thing. I've been trying multiple times a day to get a later Chef Mickey's ADR on my bday. we currently have a 7:30am but want 830am or later b/c we are going to MNSSHP that night and well. a 730 breakfast would mean leaving the All Stars at 645 to get there on time and that would make for a very long day!

Hersey ~ thanks for the hug! It really did help!

Bunchkin ~ I can't believe that you are getting ash all the way from California! I guess I never realized how close to CA you are now. Good luck. Glad to hear the temps will be cooling off for you in the upcoming days. It's so chilly up here. Crazy weather.

Slo ~ glad to hear the teeth repair went well! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the idea of putting a bag out. I know it may sound crazy but I think I'm going to have my dad get my suitcase down from the rafters for me. That way I can just pack my shorts and tank tops as I wash and iron them. (yes, I know, why iron when it's just going to get wrinkled in the suitcase?? i get it from my mom, she always did that when i was growing up!)

Tigg ~ good luck with the search for shorts and a t-shirt:wizard:

Paint ~ hope the gym went well!

paint: i watch that show too......now i'm singing that song..

tttiiigggggeeeeeerrrrrnnnnnn: i'll schedule you for the next friday in the month to come help......
bring rubber gloves.

slo: i'll schedule you when the temps hit 40.....

i'm having an early doc appointment in the morning.
this is my last injection of the orthovisc for the knee.
once that is over, and hopefully no more knee being drained, i'll be heading out to my parental units place again.

just there last week and going back again.

no access to computers so i will see you when i next see you.

everyone play nice...:goodvibes

Hi guys! Wow, these days are just flying by. Here I thought I'd have more time once the kids were in school but between babysitting my nephew some days and trying to clean up this place the hours fly by. The evenings are filled with homework and activities.

Well, I won't be teaching Irish dance for the first session. Didn't get enough registrations to offer the classes. :sad2: Very confused, all the kids that did the summer session loved it and I got a lot of compliments from the parents but none of them registered for this session. They're all doing ballet/tap/jazz classes. I just don't get it! Another downer is that I was going to get a discount for DD8s classes but now I won't, gulp had to write that check today.

mac - hope the MD appt goes well and have a safe trip to St. Louis. Hope all is well with the parental units.

disneygal - hope you're feeling better. I agree with slo, get out a suitcase or bag and whenever you come across something you need for the trip toss it in. I'm a big list maker too, just getting it all down on paper might help. Take a deep breath and try to have a great vaca, everything will work out in the end.

momto1 - sorry that DS is having such a hard time catching that bus. Maybe set his clock 10min ahead that way if he snoozes it he won't be late.
*The cake came out pretty good, didn't look professional but DD8 loved it. Here's a pic:
DSC00616.jpg

paint - gald you made it back from TX, I'm not a big bar hopper either. Too old I guess.
*Hope school goes well for you this year!

Tiggerrn - that is crazy about DDs gym uniform! Hope you get something else soon! Can you find anything online?

slo - glad the teeth repair went well, what a relief! Hope your tongue will get used to it soon!

Bunchkin - wow, that is crazy about the ash from the CA fires! Hope you guys have a GREAT time at DLR and that DH and FIL has a safe trip to Chitown.

:wave2: to everyone else....

Well, I'm pooped. Need to get the lunches started so the morning won't be so hectic. DD12 has her first basketball game tomorrow so I need to get her uniform lined up too. Have a great night all! :flower3:

Hazy still here, it's the smoke in the air.
It is weird how we are getting the smoke and ash, but the current off of the ocean carries it all the way here. A lot of our weather is a result of whatever is going on in the Pacific.

Ran a lot of errands today. And tomorrow is a big laundry day and then packing too. Already have DH packed for his trip "home". ;) Gotta save room in his bag for Lou Malnati salad dressing he's bringing back!! YUMMY!!!

slo Good to hear that your teeth came out looking nice. :teeth:
Lauren can be a real bear in the morning. She never gets up with her alarm.

irish dancer That makes no sense why no one registered for Irish dance class. The cake looks great!!!!! :thumbsup2

momto1 Money is a motivator for my almost 12yr old. On Friday I told her she blew getting her normal allowance because she was waking up too late and not making her bed and was giving me a hard time about doing other chores...well, on Saturday she was eager to make up for it!! :)

Tiggerrn Your friends are probably south of the fires which are in the mountain areas north east of LA. And the wind blows from the west and over to the east. So there isn't hardly any smoke heading south. They are lucky to be out it's path.

mac Take care on your trip to your folks place.
Hope every thing goes well with your knee.

paint I feel sick barely into 1 drink, let alone 3!!!

Take care all!!!! :flower3:

I went to bed with a headache, and woke up with the same headache:headache:
I hate it when that happens - what a terrible way to start the day!!!!:headache:

Tig - I hope your able to find those shorts {{fingers crossed}}

paint - I love museums, so I would have preferred doing that too ::yes::

momt1 - What type of alarm does your son use? Does he need something louder, or is he just not motivated to get up? I hope he starts getting better about this soon, because I know that must be frustrating for you :headache:

DG - I don't think you are crazy at all:sad2: I start laying the girls clothes out on the dining room table 2 weeks ahead of time. I even label the clothes according to what day they will wear them. I take packing way to seriously, and I can stress out about it way to much.

Mac - We'll see you when you come home - have a good week!!! :wave2:
**I hope your appointment for your knee went well :wizard:

ID - I'm sorry to hear about the class being cancelled:guilty:I know how much you were looking forward to teaching this
*That cake looks really nice - good job!!!!:thumbsup2

Bunchkin - How's your headache doing? I hope you are feeling better :wizard:

Well, it's 6:30am, and that means it's time to wake up Katie
Have a good day today!!!

Work called last night and asked me to come in since they had a lot of big parties and were a server short. Some PITA guy that everyone disliked got fired yesterday! Anyway, it was a busy evening, but I got home late and still had homework. I am really glad, too, because the server's (who passed away a few) parents came in last night. They had come down to clean out their son's apartment (as if it could not get worse, it was also his bday). I'd never met them and wasn't aware they'd be in, but they asked to talk to me. I had written a very nice and long letter to them about what a great guy their son was and they wanted to meet me and thank me. It was so nice talking to them but difficult, too. My eyes were getting teary but I kept it under control.
Slo- I hate when I wake up with the same headache. You usually sleep it away. What an unpleasant suprise in the morning!
Bunchkin- We'll go bar hopping. It'd be a wild time!:rotfl2:
ID- Cake is so cute!
Mac- GL at the dr!
DGal- The gym...haha! I truly hate working out but make myself go!:)Being on the elliptical gives me uninterrupted reading time, though.
Better get going. I have class all day today!

Packing, laundry, packing, laundry. Yeah, that's my day in a nut shell.
DD's open house is at her school tonight too.
And DH has to take his dad's dogs in to be boarded while we are all away.
So I have stuff to pack for DH and get all his ressies in order.
And then packing for the kids and I and all our ressies.

Sooo busy. And yeah, I'm makin' a pit stop here!!!

slo I heard a song on the radio yesterday and I was like HOLY COW! And I thought of you right away. You said you were a Wham Fan, and there is a band out with a cover of Careless Whisper. I'm not a fan of Seether but I thought this version was a total 360 from the original. I looked up the video on YouTube for ya. It's a throw back to all things '80s...like the song! :) George Michael is in the video as a character.
Check it out here CARELESS WHISPER!

Super fast good morning today :upsidedow

I made some homemade banana bread last night, and sure is yummy!!!!:goodvibes
It's been so long since I've baked anything - I just never have time, and when I do, I don't want to spend it in the kitchen. I had some bananas that were mighty brown, and I decided to just take some time out and make the bread, and I'm glad I did :thumbsup2

paint - That was so nice to write the parents of your coworker a letter about their son

Bunchkin - Thanks for that link - I will watch it while I eat my lunch:)
**How as the open house?

Time to go - have a good day!!

:car:Quick drive by!! Much to do today!!
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend! Please think of me when you are eating your good grilled food, drinking your lucious beverages and having a good time with your friends and family. (I will be working 12 hour shifts Sat, Sun and Mon:sad1:) So have an extra beverage (or 2) in my honor-I can't do more than 2 anyway!!

Hi gang! I went to a meeting out of the office yesterday. I lasted longer than I expected so I went home after the meeting. I was soooo nice getting home early. And the bonus...I passed a Trader Joe's on the way hope and stopped to shop. I love TJ's but there isn't one near where I live. So, I picked up my favorites and a couple of new things that looked yummy.

The saga with ds making the bus on time. DH watched this morning to when the bus actually arrived. It arrived 10 minutes before the time on the bus run schedule! No wonder he kept missing the bus. He does get out of bed at the very last possible moment but with this early arrival he had no time to spare. Hopefully, next week will be better.

ID - The cake is so cute! I bet she loved it. Bummer about not teaching dance this session and having to pay the full amount for you dd. Hopefully, next session will pick up.

Bunchkin - Have a great weekend with the kids. I noticed your ticker and going back in 2 weeks. There she is a plus about moving away from us!

Tiggern - That's a ton of work on this coming weekend. I will offer up a toast to you!

Paint - That was sweet of you to write the mom and dad a note. It sounds like they were very appreciative.

Slo - Banana bread - yummo! Save a slice for me.

Got to go to a meeting. Have a great weekend everyone!
Lori

momto1 10 minutes is quite a difference. I would contact the transporation at your school. That is crazy. I wonder if the driver is missing a stop or has had the route altered.

Holy cow! it is foggy out. I want to go to the Apple orchard and a butcher in Elburn this morning. I hope to leave in about an hour so I hope the sun or a big wind happens soon. I have a lot to do today.

Slo Today I am going to make zucchini bread with the last of my zucchini.

Have a great and safe weekend.:flower3:

Happy Saturday guys! Looking forward to a relaxing weekend with not much planned. DD12 had gymnastics this morning and DH is fixing FILs brakes today, we'll have a bbq with them tonight and have the rest of the weekend free. Need to do some yard work but otherwise relaxation!

Hersey - my DBro lives out by Elburn! Yumm, love zucchini bread - maybe I'll pick some up at Farmers Market next week and make some.

momto1 - 10min early! No wonder he's been missing the bus. I agree with Hersey, I'd call the school or bus company to get it straightened out.

Tiggerrn - Bummer you've got to work all weekend. Hope you get a bit of time to enjoy the weekend.

slo - yumm! Love, love banana bread!! I do that too with my left over bananas. Looks like I have some that are getting spotty so I'll probably make some here soon too!

Bunchkin - hope you're having a GREAT time in DL!!

paint - that was very nice of you to write that letter. Good news on the PITA server!

Well, I've got to get my daily laundry load in and finish up watching Oliver with DD12. Hope everyone is enjoying this amazing day! Have a great weekend everyone! :flower3:
