Calling all Chicago DISers #3

:welcome: Eilis! Where in Niles? We are neighbors. I live on Oketo just South of Howard, in Chicago, next door to Niles! :thumbsup2 :welcome: Have fun at Disney next week! I'm jealous!

Hi and welcome!! Have fun at WDW next week.. My Dh is from Niles by Jerry's fruit market ..

Geoff and DH are off at OA work weekend.. so I get the house to myself.. I should clean cook laundy but maybe I can do other things..

Hi everyone and thanks for the welcome! We live on Merrill and Dempster! Across from Notre Dame and West of Milwaukee.

I've been to Jerry's a couple of times but AVOID that whole area on Sundays! Talk about a mad house:scared1:

I have the house to myself right now as DH and DSD are out on a Daddy / Daughter day. I set it up after going over spelling with her this am so that I could have the house to myself while cleaning. I get too distracted with everyone around. I brought DSD to Old Navy this am for some clothes. Well, she's growing up now, 11 yrs. and will be 12 next month so no more kids pants. She's officially a size 0! :thumbsup2 A pretty cheap trip to Old Navy wound up costing me boucoup $$$! Well at least she looks cute and i got time with her myself!:goodvibes She's a great kid.

Sounds like an interesting trip to London:rolleyes: I haven't been there in quite a while. Hopefuly next time you will get a free day with no more water main breaks;)

Congratulations to Kevin! I've never been to the Brookfield Zoo but I've heard it's really great. I'm looking forward to going this summer:thumbsup2

This is a beautiful day to have the windows open, do some spring cleaning and have a beer! I'm off to sort the laundry room! and maybe start on that beer!:thumbsup2

Have a great day!

Wow, where is everyone?! Yesterday was georgous, spent much of the day weeding and my body feels it today! Should do more but don't know that my old body can hack it :rotfl:.

It's so nice out today. The girls participated in a charity fun run this morning for the Children's Brain Tumor Center at Luthern General Hosp. There were over 2200 participants! They have a 5k run/walk and a 1mi dash. The Jesse White Tumblers performed too, they were great!

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weekend! :flower3:

OK so I'm off to bed after an evening of multi-tasking! Sat at the computer and read Dis and FB, ordered the 3 book from the Twilight series AND "I Didn't Believe in Ghosts Until" which got great reviews on Amazon and Dis, had some Korbel and I'm calling it a night! Got alot out house projects done yesterday which was great! Back to work tomorrow:confused::) I look at it this way, I may not like going to work everyday but I am CERTAINLY LUCKY to be going!:yay:

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather!:goodvibes

Across from Notre Dame and West of Milwaukee.
Don't you mean East of Milwaukee? If you're across from Notre Dame, that's East of Milwaukee.

Jerry's and that intersection are INTERMINABLE over the weekend!!!! :scared1: And, for what?? :confused3 LOL

:surfweb:
Sorry I've fallen off the face of the earth this weekend :upsidedow.
We've been having some internet issues, and it's put a damper on my DISing:guilty:

Since I've been on.....
Friday - just worked all day, and then went back to work and worked until 10pm.
Saturday - just worked all day, went to church at night, did some chores around the house, and then watched the season finale of CSI NY (DVR'd).
Sunday - the girls spent the day with their grandma, Kevin was at Indy, I did laundry, scrubbed the kitchen and foyer floor, scrubbed some walls (I am now a little sore from all this scrubbing), switched over my winter clothes to summer clothes, and other chores, then went to work to meet a friend/customer, finally sat and watched some tv in the evening.

So, I've been very busy and productive this weekend!!!!! :faint: I wish I could have got a lot more done around the house, but I just didn't have time.

The girls had a fantastic time with their Grandma yesterday. They went to an American Girl Doll tea party, and they both came home with great raffle prizes. Stephanie won a new AG game, and Katie won they big prize, which was the 2009 doll of the year - Chrissa. She was, and still is, SO excited!!!!!:yay:

DB - Congrats on having your wedding at WDW being official!!!:cheer2:That is so exciting!!!!! :yay:

Donna - I'm glad you were able to have a nice Mother's Day with your whole family together :goodvibes

esbrick - :welcome:
We are such a great group to be a part of - you'll love it here!!!!:goodvibes Please come by often - we would love to get to know you!!!!

piglet - Congrats to Kevin!!!!!:cheer2:

Crissup - I'm glad you had a safe trip to London, but I"m sorry about the hotel issues:headache:How frustrating!!!

To everyone else - :wave2:

It's time for me to check on my other threads, because I've been MIA from them too. Have a great day!!!

I'm so tired this morning & I even went to bed early last night BUT then I just tossed & turned trying to get comfy to sleep. So much for trying to get to bed early for some sleep, basically defeated that purpose. :rotfl:

Today is run around like a crazy person day! It was pioneer day at DS-8's school and well....somehow my white dress shirt that I *thought* we had, I didn't have. I winged it.

Then it's Taste of Kindergarten for the little guy after school, a choir concert tonight for my oldest & then the 8 year old has a Cub Scout pizza party to go to. THANKFULLY another scout mom is taking the 8 year old because I was trying to figure out how I was going to pull that rabbit out of a hat with being 2 places at once.

It just seems I have so much stuff to get ready for all at once. I suppose I should be used to this, it's always feast or famon (sp?) around here. Either we are doing nothing or everything gets scheduled at the same time. I'm looking forward to the end of school!!! Although, I'm sure within 2 weeks...I'll be wanting the kids to go back to school. ;)

Don't you mean East of Milwaukee? If you're across from Notre Dame, that's East of Milwaukee.

Jerry's and that intersection are INTERMINABLE over the weekend!!!! :scared1: And, for what?? :confused3 LOL

Umm yep you're right East of Milwaukee. I was looking at that Milwaukee was west of me! Duhhh!;)

I think that Jerry's must do some kinda sales on Sundays, Grab and run or something! I personally am not a big fan. To busy for me, but obviously there are people who REALLY enjoy it. The Jewel over there is not to bad but I like the one on Dempster right now.:) I have recently found Caputos and that is pretty cool. Can you tell I didn't grow up in the area?:confused3

If I haven't already said it, or in case I did, THANK YOU ALL FOR SUCH A WARM WELCOME! I like it here and look forward to getting to know you and your stories:thumbsup2.

Disneygal ~ Congrats on your WDW wedding! We just got married in December so please let me know if you need any advice on where to find stuff:). I planned our wedding in NY so I know about planning out of town wedding and it can be nerve wracking. The ladies on the Disney Wedding forum are very nice too, which I am sure you know.:)

:cool1:Have some wonderful days!

Morning, again!

I received an email this am from DSD's mom. She is looking into an orthodontist for Meg:eek:. Does anyone have any recommendations for an orthodontist in Niles, Des Plaines or Park Ridge?:confused3

Thanks for the recommendations ahead of time!:goodvibes

HI all!!

I read to catch up on the thread the other day, but didn't have time to post! :)

Been busy packing here!! Dropped off old electronics at the county's recycling spot. Why did DH think it was necessary to keep almost all our old computers stored in the basement????? :headache: No Joke....I dropped off 4Mac's!!!!!
Need to take some curtains to the dry cleaners and get those packed away too.

DH's mom is not well. Still too sick for chemo. She is scheduled to go today to a new cancer doctor who is trying out a new experimental med for people who are too weak for chemo.
Her regular cancer doctor doesn't think she'll make it to the end of the year if she can't get chemo. :sad1:

On a good note, we finally sign papers this week on a house. So now I can get the kids set up for the new schools. DS's school is litteraly on the other side of our subdivision.

Donna Your Mother's Day sounded great! That was awesome the whole family was able to be together.
I think I saw a story about your son's school on the news. Am I right?

John Sorry to hear of your hotel hassles!! Grrr!!!
So was the trip all work and no play??

slo Sounds like your weekend was full. Congrats to both the girls for winning!! Where did they go for this party? Was it at the AG store? :)

esbrick :welcome: to the Chicago thread!!!! Congrats on your recent marriage! Sorry, I have no suggestions for an ortho up by you. I live in the SW burbs.

disneygal Sorry to hear that your dad was in the hosp. I hope all is well now.
Congrats on everything being official at Disney!!!
Too bad you couldn't have the extra time off to go to Germany!!!

piglet Congrats to your son for getting into the zoo program!!

Hi to everyone else!!!

I gotta run!! Too much to do....as usual. At least dinner is already in the crockpot, so that's one less thing to worry about today!!! :)

John Sorry to hear of your hotel hassles!! Grrr!!!
So was the trip all work and no play??

Primarily, yes. My colleagues over there are a lot of fun, so being with them was time spent with friends. But, it was all business and zero time to get out and look around. Although, I got in on Monday morning, napped for a few hours and then did get about an hour free that I walked over to the Tower Bridge. I got about halfway across before getting an email from my colleagues to meet them in the pub across from my hotel. So, that was the extent of my site seeing. I found out the next day that that same Monday, the elevator failed on the Tower Bridge and dropped about 30 feet. Several tourists on the elevator broke their legs when it hit bottom.

I'm glad to hear you've got your house all picked out. That has to be a load off your minds. Unfortunately, I'm like your DH when it comes to saving old electronics. LOL! I've got a basement full of servers. Of course, I'm planning on gutting them for the good parts and tossing the rest. Nowadays, I've got reasonable access to old, but still good, server equipment. So, it's not like I'll ever put an old dual processor 500MHz server back online again.

Hi all. Just coming up for air and flying in with a quick post. Haven't had a chance to catch up on anything. Softball game tonight then I think I may have a drink!!:rotfl2:
I'll go back to read and check back in tomorrow.

Umm yep you're right East of Milwaukee. I was looking at that Milwaukee was west of me! Duhhh!;)

LOL, I hear ya! Let's meet sometime soon, we're REALLY neighbors! ;):thumbsup2

That Jewel at Oakton & Milwaukee is WAY TOO SMALL! Avoid it! I DO!!! :headache: I like the Dempster Jewel but I go to the Park Ridge Jewel these days, becuase of location to work/school.

Yes actually I do! In Park Ridge, on Washington, between Touhy and NW HWY. Can't remember the name at this moment (Gartner?), but he's google-able I'm sure. And, there's DiFranco on Talcott, no brace experience with them tho. Good Luck! :thumbsup2

DG - :wave2:

Becky - I hoped your busy day went well.

esbrick - I will be asking that same question soon too for Stephanie.

Bunchkin - That's great that Tony was able to find a house for you:)
**The AG Tea Party was at a local church in the next town over from us. Our town is doing one too soon, but we aren't going to that one.
**Good luck with all your packing  and continued prayers for your MIL.

Crissup - How scary about that elevator - that goodness you weren't on it.

TTTTTiiggernnnn - Are you playing softball again this summer?

Kim - :wave2:

Well friends, I gotta go get ready for my Leads Group. Have a great day!!

Checking in to say hi. I feel like I've been pretty busy lately doing what I don't know. I just feel like I'm never home. Friday night was pretty exciting for me dh and I went to the Keith Urban concert!!!!:worship: OMG I love him and it was so good. For one song he came into to seats to sing and he was five people away from me! I nearly wet my pants. But it was so much fun I haven't been to a concert in a long time so we were exhausted just from standing for 2 1/2 hours.

Hope you all enjoy the day it's going to be beautiful.

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Not much going on around here. Work is slow so I've been keeping myself busy with... what else... busy work!!!

Tigg ~ do you play softball in grant park?

Becky ~ I hear ya with the going to bed early. Every time I attempt it, I am up even later than usual b/c I'm tossing and turning. Good Luck with everything that needs to be done!

Esbrick ~ Did you have an Escape or Wishes wedding? Thanks for the offer on advice! I may take you up on that sometime. We should be getting our planner within the next week or so. I'm very excited!

Bunchy ~ so sorry to hear about DH's mom. you and your family will continue to be in my prayers. Where are you moving again? Arizona?

DGR ~ Glad to hear you had a great time at the Keith Urban concert. My sister is a huge fan of his!

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day! I hear it's supposed to be beautiful today!

I didn't have my wedding at WDW but I did post over on the DISWedding board because I found the forums in other places to be too judgemental. Brides need support they do not need to be judged because they think that a color scheme or a type of flower is different from what you think would be perfect. I won't mention the other places by name. . . It can get scarey. :scared1:

I did most of my my out of town planning for our wedding in NY and even though you are having a WDW wedding timing is everything!:thumbsup2 That is great that you have a planner to help you! I am really excited to hear about your details and please NEVER hesitate to email me about a plan! I don't tire of hearing them. Are you having an Escape or Wishes wedding? When? Sounds wonderful!:dance3::bride::dance3:

I'm a planner type personality by profession so I love to have time lines and itineraries for events. Jeeze it's just Mike and I for this weekend and I have an itinerary so that everything is in ONE place. I mean seriously all we have is plane ressies, ONE ADR and Mike is playing golf. I think half the fun for me is putting it together and seeing it. :cool1:

Bunchkin ~ your MIL is in our prayers as well! And some pixie dust too!pixiedust:

OK so off to deside on Jimmy Johns for lunch or more pretzels! Have a great day all!
