Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Hi everyone! Hmm..I think my e-mail notifications are randomly not giving them to me or I scan them & forgot I read it?

I was reading posts that I hadn't seen before so I think there must have been a glitch (or user error :lmao:).

Tonight is DS-12's choir concert & I hope he figures out what the heck he is doing. He was supposed to stay after Friday to get riser positions, etc... but he *totally* forgot and came home right after school -- so he will be clueless. He was so upset with himself though. Nothing we could do at that point. It should be interesting to see how it all pans out. Hopefully he doesn't have a melt-down on stage when he is confused.

I will be glad when school is over. Seems they always put a ton of stuff crammed in right at the end and I have to figure out how to coordinate 10 different things.

The rumor has it that my niece is engaged and planning a May 2010 wedding, so looks like I might be going to CT then. Last I heard was a 'maybe' from my sister but it was a super quick e-mail & I only heard about the engagement from my mom. Not sure how that is going to mesh with my June 2010 Disney vacation now...so it's back to being in limbo for that.

That just about sums everything up for right now.

Congrats on the :happytv: !

Yes, I lost 72 on WW, 75 on WISH, even 80 actually, total, but never claimed that clippie because I KNEW I wouldn't/couldn't sustain that. I looked not-so-good at that point. I WISH I could get that loss back now tho!!! I gained back too much, and I've been trying for over 2 months now to lose again, and my old body is just not cooperating like it did 5-6 years ago. It's refusing to lose! WW is an excellent, normal, live-your-life as you should program, just modify. :thumbsup2 I'm so glad it's working for you!! :goodvibes :cheer2: :cool1: Keep me posted, please?

Kim you really did a GREAT job on WW I was very jealous. I know how what you mean about how hard it is to lose the weight but lets face it, it's not in our genes to be skinny!:rotfl: We are only going through this life once might as well be happy. Yeah right as I keep thinking about losing weight for my trip in Nov.

It is a nice day today after all that rain last night. DH is going to the Cubs game today so hope the weather stays nice for him, not that I care what the Cubs do (Kim that was for you!;))

Hope everyone has a great day!

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday - our internet was down because of the storm.

Speaking of that storm - that was an ANGRY storm!!!
Poor Kevin was out with the FD from 11:30pm to 4am (you may have seen him on the news when they talked about our town). Then he came home, and had another call at 6:30am, and he ran many other calls (not storm related) during the course of the day - he was exhausted last night!!!!

DG - That's nice he's able to vacation with his family. I hope he went somewhere fun!

ID - I"m glad you found your camera, and that the concert was good.
**I'm not sure when I'll have another relaxing day. Wednesday night I went back to work until 9:30pm (and then didn't sleep most of the night due to my kids being afraid of the storm), and then last night we went to my mom's house for my dad's bday. Tonight I will be going back to work, because I have alot to do, and then tomorrow I work, and then Sunday I have lots of housework to do, since I'm never home during the week. I don't think I'm going to have any relaxing days for a long long long while.

Tiiigggernnnn - Did you solve the DVD dilema? I wouldn't even know where to begin.

momto1 - Was the school closed for the swine flu? I actually can understand a parents annoyance, because I already told Kevin that if Stephanie's school system shuts down because a child has this, that I would be the first one complaining about it. Stephanie is already going to school 1 week longer this summer due weather related closing throughout the year, we don't need to extend it.

piglet - :wave2:

Kim - Don't feel bad, because I've gained some of my weight back too.

HERSEY - We really got hit hard with that storm!! There was a decent amount of damage around here.

Becky - How was your DD's choir concert? I hope it went well.

dgr - I hope your DH had a good time at the game.

Well, it's time to drag Steph out of bed, and I need to make her a lunch.
Have a great day everyone!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Happy Friday! Did I mention I sent out our contract on monday? if not, I did! Our consultant called on wednesday to let me know it got there and everything looked great! So it's official ladies (and gents)!! I'M GETTING MARRIED IN DISNEY!!!!! :cool1: I'm very excited! Now I just need to wait for Michael to get back from Germany so we can book our hotel and whatnot!!! wahooooo!!!!

Slo ~ hope Kevin was able to catch up on some sleep yesterday. poor guy.

I went to the game yesterday, too! Our department went from work. We had bleacher seats, so we got there an hour early to get seats. We all have the most hilarious sunburns today! :rotfl:

I only stayed for the first three innings, because my friend's dad died and I had to go home and then go over to Franklin Park for the wake. :sad1: It was completely sudden and unexpected. He just died in his sleep, taking a nap. It was very sad.

Hey guys! Ugh, I'm exhausted and it's not even lunchtime! DS8 had a MD appt this morning and it was physically and emotionally exhausting. He needed a finger stick for hemoglobin and a shot for HepA. Well.........he CANNOT handle the stress of it all and it took 3 of us to get it done. After he was finished he cried and told me he was sorry over and over. Poor guy!

Tonight we're going to try out the YMCA by my in-laws. They have Family Night on Fridays and offer games, climbing wall and swimming. The kids should have a ball!

Leigh - so sorry about your friend's dad, so sad.

disneygal - congrats on being "official"! I wish I could have done a Disney wedding! My DDs have both seen things on TV about wedding there and that is their desire, unfortunately being Catholic we can't have the ceremony there. :sad1:

slo - wow, I hope you and Kevin catch a breath soon! The storm wasn't too bad by us, hopefully your area will get cleaned up soon.

Becky - momto1 and I both had band/choir things this week too, just that time of year I guess! I hope the wedding doesn't interfere with your WDW plan.

Tiggerrn - wow, I hope you got DDs DVD issue resolved. That would so be a DH problem around here, I would have NO idea what to do. DD12 did have a problem with a Power Point presentation she did on my computer last week because it was a newer version than they have at school so it wouldn't work, oops. She re-did it on DHs computer and all was well.

:wave2: to everyone else.

Well, I'm off to put in a load of :laundy:. We leave for WDW 4wks from today so I might start getting that organized too! Have a great day everyone! :flower3:

:yay::yay:Good rainy Friday to all!

From what I've been reading here (trying to play catch up), everyone has been pretty busy with lots of family things.

Same for us...Christopher was home from Reno and we did a lot of running around...two main things is we saw the new Star Trek movie (we loved it, but we are all Trekkies!), and we went to see the White Sox on Mother's Day (Christopher bought the family tix as a Mom's Day present). The Sox lost, but the day was gorgeous, and it was wonderful to have the whole family together, which is very, very rare, and quite a treat!

This weekend, Mark and I are going to see a play at Drury Lane (tix were a mom's day gift from Brian). Speaking of Brian, his school is scheduled to close soon, today is the last day for the seniors, and Sunday is graduation. Very emotional time for all.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, stay dry!

Becky - momto1 and I both had band/choir things this week too, just that time of year I guess!

It was DS-12 Middle school conert and it went well. Although, I was having senior moments there! :lmao: They *always* end with Everlasting Melody song. I think they said it's been 6 years. So, I'm sitting there thinking "wait...the 8th graders from the old school aren't here, that's odd" -- Until my brain kicked into gear! The *only* reason they were that the 8th graders went to each other's school last year is because they started out all together in 6th grade, so the directors thought it fitting they should end together. The school's split when DD was in 7th grade. The 8th graders this year are the first class to go all the way through at the new school. DUH!!! Of course, they wouldn't invite the other 8th graders here.

Monday is another one. It's DD's. It's the nature of the end of the year I suppose. Lots of end of the year stuff.

Hi Everyone!
checking in from Niles! I have really enjoyed lurking and would love to join in if that's ok? I mostly post at lunch time or on the weekends and I'm excited to find this forum!

We are off to WDW next week, Friday - Monday and can't wait:banana:. It is the first trip in a while that I haven't made any ADR's or planned events and I'm ok with that. . . kinda:laughing: Looking foward to bar hopping in Epcot and Bingo at SSR! :yay:

OK so before I ramble and become "uggg that one" I'll sign off and hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!:cool1:

HaHaHa! I had tics for Wed night, but couldn't go, and the tics didn't sell. Ouch. They were good $ seats too.

Kim - Don't feel bad, because I've gained some of my weight back too.
WHY is it sooo much easier to gain than it is to lose, when we try harder to lose? Gaining is a piece of cake, pun intended.

Hi and welcome!! Have fun at WDW next week.. My Dh is from Niles by Jerry's fruit market ..

Due to the rain Eric didn't have track meet last night. I am so glad becuase it was going on until 11 or 11:30 at night.. so he is off today for the rescheduled meet..

Geoff and DH are off at OA work weekend.. so I get the house to myself.. I should clean cook laundy but maybe I can do other things..

Kevin will be at the Brookfield Zoo (at least) two days a week over the summer. YVC stands for Youth Volunteer Corps. Here is a link that explains a little bit of what they do http://www.brookfieldzoo.org/pgpages/pagegen.59.aspx , this year he is in the "Interpretive Track". Basically, he will work with other YVC students to present a fun way to teach about different animals in the zoo.

she's local, and she has Disney-itis also now.

I swear I must be dyslexic. When I first read that, I had to do a double take before I realized you said she had Disney-"itis". :lmao: :lmao:

Well, home from London. It was a productive and eventful trip. Stayed at a Hilton in the same complex as our office. Last year, a water main broke in front of the office and ended up flooding the basement of the office building, which is where our datacenter is located. So, it's often a topic of conversation how it probably wasn't a good idea to locate the DC in the basement at a level below the Thames.

So, Thursday morning, around 4:30 am, I get woke up from the fire alarm in my room going off sporadically. It would go off for about 10 seconds and then stop. Figuring it would be stopping if it was a real fire, I pulled the blanket over my head and tried to go back to sleep. :lmao: Finally, I'm laying there looking out the window and the office building right across from my room and I hear this lound "whooomp" and the office building goes dark. A moment later, I hear it again and my hotel room loses power. Then the fire alarm again, which stops a few seconds later. Now, I'm getting annoyed. A moment later, the office building regains power (turned out, it must have been on backup). So, I lay there about a half hour waiting for the power to be restored and I get a call from my CIO that he had just schlepped his bags down the stairs and was on his way to the airport. That he didn't think there was any safety issues, but the street was flooded when he left. Turned out, the water main broke again!

So, finally, the Hilton sent someone around door knocking to tell us all the hotel was closing for a few days and we all needed to get out. So, I threw on my old clothes, packed my bags and dragged my luggage 9 stories down the stairwell. At this point, the Hilton was prepared to relocate everyone, but I called my boss and we agree to just meet at the hotel that we often stay at near another of our offices in Ealing. Since Ealing was closer to Heathrow and we both flew out in the morning, this worked well. Plus, it allowed us to set up a base of operations in case we were needed in our Ealing office.

So, all plans for Thursday, which was supposed to be my one day that I didn't have any hard plans and was going to tie up a bunch of loose ends, were shot. But, we did end up getting some work done, caught a nap to catch up sleep and were on our way to Heathrow on Friday morning.
