Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Back from the doctors. It is a good news bad news kind of thing. Bad news, it is a tumor. Good news, he feels that it is benign. My case will be presented to the "tumor board" tomorrow to decide what the next step will be. He said he will call tomorrow night and let me know.

Kirsten

I imagine that today will be so long and hard for you waiting.. i will pray for you and hope you find out soon..

Morning all. Off to work today for another meeting. Next week is the big Go Live week for our new computer system. I will be busy for a couple weeks.

Becky, good to hear from you again. Sounds like good news for your DD. I hope she has a great time with the pageants.
Slo, happy birthday to Sophie.

Well, I had best get moving. I am afraid I am computing on borrowed time everyone. I am on the laptop because it hasn't done it's update. The home computer DH did an update to and now it doesn't work.:confused3So I am thinking as soon as the laptop is allowed to update, it won't work either.:badpc:So I had best post this before it is lost forever! Hopefully, I will be able to visit with you all again soon.

Piglet:hug: Please know we are here for you...

Not looking too good for the school not closing...tomorrow is the "last ditch" effort...but then it's going to be game over...thanks for all your good thoughts!

Hope everyone has a good evening...

Good news on the brain front. Follow up MRI in 3-6 months and a meeting with a Neuropsychologist. As of now, no surgery!! Thanks everyone for thinking of me. It truly helps to know that I have so much support.

Hi everyone! Looking at the last few posts this doesn't really have anything to do with the conversation at hand, but I wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Kristen and I am also a DISer from Chicago! I am 25 years old and live in the south suburbs of the city. :goodvibes

Welcome Kristen! I am Kirsten, lets see how much our names get mixed. LOL There are several of us from the south suburbs, I am in Mokena.

Welcome Don't worry about trying to figure out what the conversation is. We never have :rotfl2:

Mac How are you doing?

Kirsten Excellent news

Thanks for all the teaching congrats! I had my exit interview and the teacher again said how impressed she was with me. She encouraged me to apply for the internship there after graduation. It does not pay as much as a regular teaching position but would like great on a resume and I'd learn a ton. Plus, I'd get to work with this teacher. She was wonderful! Also, I just finished my last paper of the semester!:banana:It was for a medieval lit. class and was written about a specific 13th c. romance novel in comparison to Disney princess films and how their popularity reflects a current medievalism. ZZZ, right? Anyway, I still have two tests next week and have to recite some poetry tomorrow, but I am almost done. Hurray!
piglet- What a relief! I am so glad to hear it is benign! You must have been beside yourself with worry.
Donna- So sad about the school. DH's school is making cuts, too. Altho he is okay, you just never know these days.
dgal- Let's see the new 'do!
princesscastmember- Welcome! Love to hear more about your work at WDW. I wish someone had told me about the internship when I was younger and in college! I guess I will settle for working there when I retire.
tig and slo- DS is very forgetful. Once, he wore his rainboots and I got a call because he had forgotten ONE shoe! How?!? I got there and he was wearing some big old loaner shoes!

I was going to post more, but dh needs to check his grades on the internet! Be back later!

Anytime! I love talking about my time at Disney. Best job in the world and I had the best job in the World too! Haha. I did a college program internship when I was a sophmore in college and loved it so much I applied for a full time position after I graduated. I was hired as a Guest Relations Hostess at the Magic Kingdom. I did a lot of different things, I started off working in City Hall and then I was also able to do other things. I was a Magic Kingdom tour guide and did the "Keys to the Kingdom" tour (and I actually saw DISers posting about my tour on here too!!), I helped open the Disney Wish Lounge (located by Baby Care and First Aid) which is a lounge dedicated to Make a Wish families and Give Kids the World families, and yes I even have been in the Cinderella Castle Suite! I was actually there while they were in the process of making it and was there for the start of that whole thing too. Best job in the world!!!!!

Why did I leave? Unfortunately the best job in the world doesn't pay very well. *sigh*

Hi gang! Getting ready to leave work for the day and thought I better pop in. DS had volleyball today but I missed the game. I will have to find out later if they won. I don't like missing his games and stuff. We can't get these days back.

Piglet - Good news on no surgery! Prayers are powerful and you had many.

DG - How was the game? I bet you had fun.

Slo - I would love to be your friend on face book. Should I pm you my name - you don't have my facebook name from the Christmas card mailing.

Paint - Congrats with all your school stuff. I bet it feels good to almost be done. I think you paper sounded really creative! We call our ds "the absent minded professor" as he is constantly misplacing things. It is part of his ADD but is frustrating.

Donna - Bummer about the school. You guys tried so hard to keep it open. Best of luck next year.

Princesscastmember - Welcome! Just jump on in and post what you want. We are a fun group.

Hi to all! Have a good night. Stay dry tomorrow.
Lori

Hi guys! Trying to stay on task getting things ready for the Communion this weekend but decided to take a break to catch up online.;) Found out tonight though that DDs gold chain for her cross necklace is broken . Will try taking it to the jeweler tomorrow to see if they can fix it by Friday.

We have DSs follow-up meeting from his IEP tomorrow. It is usually a placement meeting but this year it is his 3yr review. They readministered all the tests he took 3yrs ago and we'll meet to go over those. I'm excited because we'll get to meet his new teacher. Unfortunately, he's changing schools again for the 5th time! He was at this school for 1st grade though so I'm hoping the transition will go better since there should be some familiarity but transitions have always been tough.

piglet - congrats on the good news. I'm so happy that the news was good, what a relief.

PrincessCM - Welcome! Your job sounds wonderful. My DDs 12 & 7 are both hoping the college program will still be around for them. DH and I will have to settle with retiring down there. Feel free to share all about your job so we can live vicariously through you!

paint - it must feel great to be on the home stretch! How are the vaca plans coming? I'm sure that must be a great thing to look forward to when you're busy with all the end of year stuff.

Donna - Oh, that's too bad about the school. Maybe there will be a miracle.

Tiggerrn - good luck with the new computer system, hope it all goes well.

slo - Happy Birthday to Sophie! Wow, I can't believe it's been a year already. How time flies.....

disneygal - how was the game? DH is going to a game next week with work, one of his vendors has invited their office to a roof party.

:wave2: to DisneymoonJess, momto1, mac, Hersey, geffric and all our other Chicago homies!

Well, the clock is chiming so I've got to run and take DD12s dress out of the washer to hang dry. Also want to watch the news. Have a good night everyone. :flower3:
