Calling all Chicago DISers #3

i know I have only posted here once or twice. just thought I'd let youknow hubby Nebo has a new trip report started. "smidgy and the grump. or badtime stories" you might want to hear about out drive through padukah after the ice storm (or just join in the fun:banana: )

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday.
I was going to - I even sat at the computer to check my email, but then Kevin and I decided to run many errands, and I needed to get myself and the girls fed and ready to go, so we could get a fairly early start. Then when we came home, I fed us lunch, did a little around the house, went to church, and then we went out to dinner with my in-laws, and then went back to their house for desert. It was a busy day, but not a stressful busy day. I"m glad we got all our running around done yesterday, so now we can be home today :thumbsup2

Kevin and my dinner at Texas Roadhouse was great - very very good food. They have the best rolls - I can't stop talking about them. I ate so many of them, that I really gave myself a stomachache:upsidedow Some people can't say no to alcohol, and I'm someone that can't say no to something that tastes really good  A highlight of that evening was running into Tiiiiiiiigernnnnnnnnnnnnn and her family there - it was so good to see them!!! :goodvibes

paint - How did everything go with the plumber? I hope it didn't cost to much - plumbers are so expensive!!!

piglet - How did your DD handle the MRI? Did she get scared? I hope everything went well.

TTTTTTTTTTTigern - It was so good to see you Friday night!!!:goodvibes

Mac - I"m sorry you had a bad experience at Texas Roadhouse:guilty: Everything Friday night was perfect, but at the same time, when they invited all the town employees and town businesses, they are really going to strive to be perfect. I hope it continues that way after they officially open.

geffric - Don't bring the pig, clone the pig :teeth:

momto1 - That's awesome that your are doing the EE Challenge:) Are you going to run it or walk it?

Bunchkin - I"m glad to hear that your MIL is going to home from the hospital. I will continue to keep her in my thoughts and prayers:angel: .

HERSEY - Mice  I hate them!!!! We used to get them in our house too, and, knock on wood, we haven't this year. Good luck getting rid of them:wizard: I hate them!!!

Crissup - I'm glad your side is on the mend. It's easy to want to prevent something in fear it could make you feel worse again. I hope you are starting to feel better from that sneeze you held :wizard:

Donna - I"m glad you had a nice time at Woodfield :)

DG - I"m glad you made it safely to Iowa:) Have fun while you are there!!! Be safe on your way home :car:

smidgy - Thank you for the invitation to the thread. I'll have to check it out!!!:)

Well, I'm off to make some breakfast and clean a little house today.
Have a great day today everyone!!!

Evening all!!
Feast or famine at work I tell you. Yesterday, both sides of our unit were open and packed and today by 3, all of one side went home! We have 5 patients left. So, needless to say, it was my turn to have to leave early, so I lost 4 hours of pay. I could use vacation time to make it up, but who wants to waste their vacation time to come sit at home.:sad2:
So, now I do :surfweb: and wait for the Oscars to come on so I can check out the duds.:rolleyes1 I don't think I have seen any of the nominated movies for this year.

Hope all of you that went to DTD this weekend had fun. Anyone win anything fun? What were the surprises?

Slo, I went back and re-read your post about Texas Roadhouse from Friday. Funny, I didn't remember you saying it was a complimentary meal for Friends and Family. I just remembered the name of the place and when we were driving to Chili's and saw it, we thought let's check it out. We were quite suprised to find out it was a free meal. and that we were invited in to join everyone. As we were leaving, others were being turned away if they didn't have an invitation. I guess we were just lucky. It was great to see you. And I will definately be going back for those rolls!!!:worship:

Sorry to those of you that got much of the white stuff!:headache: Thankfully it didn't hit us too hard.

Well, I need to get the kiddos some pizza for dinner. Love Market Day. Especially on work days when I had not planned to make dinner.
Oh, finally have Spring Break vacation plans set.
DD will get to Celebrate her birthday at Disneyland!!!:thumbsup2 We are headed out to California for the week. We will stay with our friends. Plan a whale watch and a trip up to Big Bear to do some hiking. DH still wants to find a river to go rafting. I'll have to see what I can find. Airfare wasn't too bad for us, but having trouble finding a rental car for less than $450:scared1: for an economy sized car.

Have a nice evening everyone. Enjoy the Oscars!

I'm tired!!!
I stayed up to watch The Oscars, and then some of the programming after it was over. Then Stephanie woke me up at 1:30am, and then Katie woke me up at 3am :faint: so I"m tired!!!!

TTTTTTTTTTTTTigern - I"m sorry you had to go home from work early :guilty: But I"m very excited for you to have made Spring Break plans:cool1: Does Disneyland have the same bday special as WDW? That would be awesome if they did!!!!:) Have fun making your plans!!!!!

Mac - Thanks for the listings!!!:)

Well, I'm off to start my day - have a good Monday everyone!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Our trip to Iowa was nice! It was nice to just get away for a day! On the way home we stopped at a Red Robin right outside Madison. It was delicious! I  Red Robin! Well, better start doing some work! Have a great day everyone! :flower3:

H gang! DS is at the eye doc right now in his contact lense classes. Today he gets his contacts. Now, one more thing for mom to have to keep track of - cleaning, what day do they need to be replaced, etc, etc, etc. He is excited.

Did you hear about the IHOP free pancakes tomorrow? They are giving away a free short stack to each customer with the hopes you will donate to charity (sorry, I forget which one right now). Now...I know some of us are on diets, myself included, but I plan to be there. DS is off from school and I took the day off, so IHOP here we come! I hope it isn't too crowded.

Slo - I will be walking the Everest challenge. I am not even sure I could make this body run. The crazy thing - ds will run it, I will walk it, so the only part we will do together is stand in line together before it starts.

Too cool that Slo and Tiggerrn ran into each other at dinner. I think I better go try those rolls you are raving about.

DG - Glad you had a nice time in Iowa and the weather cooperated with you.

Tiggerrn - Congrats on planning your spring break trip! Are you counting down yet?

Hi to everybody else!
Lori

momto1 I didn't hear about the IHOP thing.. I'll have to check it out.. about contacts.. congrats.. he will love them.. both my boys are wearing them..and love them but I made them buy the one a day type.. so they throw them out at the end of the day.that way I didn't have to worry about the contacts and their eyes..

welcome home DG glad you had a great time and the weather was okay for you..

one of my sons wears the extended contacts.
change them once a month.
wear them 24 hours.

he likes them that way

:welcome: We do get together. It has been a while though I think life got in the way. Stay and chat with us. I'm sure we will get together soon.

momto1 Alex thought the sound of contacts sounded cool until I told him he would have to be able to touch his eye. You should have see the look I got

Well my car is in the shop hopefully I know what its issue is and it will be cheap to fix. I hate car troubles.

Evening all!
Today was mass :laundy: day. All sheets, towels, and clothes! and everything was washed, dried, folded/hung, and put away.:cool1: That is a rarity around here. There is almost always a basket full that didn't make it into drawers/closets.
Tomorrow I am supposed to meet up for lunch with an old friend. I forgot I had a meeting at work that I am supposed to attend. So now I am double booked. I think I will try to escape the work meeting.:rolleyes1
momto1, I am counting down, plotting and planning. Are you going to WDW or DL over your break? I can't recall. I am sure you've said here already. Sorry.
Hersey, :wizard: that the repairs will not break your piggy bank. I hate those. DH car is leaking oil like mad. He doesn't think it is worth it to have it repaired. I believe he is waiting for an opportunity to buy a new one this spring to tell the truth. He's had his eye on the new Fusion. or a Mazda 6.
bookswin, welcome aboard. You are not far from me. I pass through Flossmoor on my way to work.
DG, welcome back home. Glad you enjoyed your trip to Iowa.
geffric, those throw away contacts are the only ones I can comfortable wear for any length of time. I have dry eyes, and by the days' end, those puppies need to be tossed. I have resorted to only wearing them for special occasions. I just prefer to wear my glasses now.
Well, all have a good night and a nice day tomorrow. Looks like we may actually have a little nice weather the next two days.:woohoo:

bookswin, welcome aboard. You are not far from me. I pass through Flossmoor on my way to work.

Howdy, neighbor.

Have you seen that white Camry (?) running around here with the license plate "DVC MBRS"?

Or is that you?

Happy Fat Tuesday everyone!!!!!
For those of you going to IHOP for free pancakes - enjoy!!!!:goodvibes The IHOP by me is sorta far away, so I won't be going since I have to be at work by 10am.

For those of you that are Catholic, what are you giving up for Lent? This will be the 3rd year that Stephanie, Katie, and I give up listening to anything in the car - so we have silence. I like doing this, because it's something the girls can sacrifice and not cheat on, because I won't cheat on it. So that starts when we leave church tomorrow night.

DG - I"m glad you had a nice time in Iowa :)

momto1 - Congrats to your son on getting his contacts:cheer2:
**When you walk the EE Challenge, do they have a requirement on how fast you walk the miles? For the 1/2 marathon and full marathon, you have to walk a 16 minute mile, which is what I am striving to do.

bookswin - :welcome:
Please come by often and visit - we would love to get to know you!!!!
Yes, we have gotten together for a movie a couple of times - it was fun!!!:)

HERSEY - I hope your car troubles aren't to severe:wizard:

TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTigern - Have fun with your friend today:) . Where are you going for lunch??

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I'm off to eat my daily grapefruit, and then get ready for work
Have a good day today!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3:

momto1 ~ This Everest Challenge you speak of... when is it and how far is it? I would love to do something of the sort. I know I'll never be able to run a 5K or marathon but walking might be fun! :cheer2:

Bookswin ~ welcome! Glad to have you here! :cool2:

Hersey ~ hope your car is feeling better!:car:

Slo ~ I haven't decided what to give up for Lent yet. :rolleyes1 i know.... i'm really running out of time!

good tuesday lent day morning chicagoland homies.....:goodvibes

slo, i have facebook but i forgot my password.

you can ask them to get you a new password.. Then you can friend me.. or may be not LOL

I am coming to you today to ask for your prayers.
I have commented in the past about my dad's memory and mental problems, and my mom got the final dianosis yesterday that he has advanced stages of Alzheimers:sad1: Please keep my dad in your prayers, but please please please especially keep my mom in your prayers - she has such a long dark road ahead of her. My dad still feels there's nothing wrong with him, so he's not suffering, but my mom sure is - he is not easy to live with at all. There are so many things that she loves, that she isn't and won't be able to do:guilty: I feel so sad for her. I had to explain to Stephanie yesterday about this, and explain to her that someday he won't remember her, and explain to her that it doesn't mean he doesn't love her, but it's the disease - she was sad:sad1: Alzheimers is so ugly - you die with no dignity:sad2: So sad!!!!:sad1:

On a happier note - I've been having alot of fun on Facebook. Not only can I keep in touch with those on The DIS, but I am hoping to catch up with many people that I haven't seen or talked to in years.

Have a great day!!!

Well, it was good and bead news from the plumber...it is a pipe that runs from the upstairs bathroom down into the basement. We had it repaired a year ago (by a different company) and the people who came out think it is leaking from a coupling, so it might be the responsibility of the previous company. Let's hope! Maybe they'd fix it or knock the price down.
My sister survived her 21st last weekend. She got sick! People were asking what to buy her next. I finally said, "Nothing! She needs water!". We were teasing her the next day like they did to Vanessa on the Cosby Show. Does anyone remember that? She got drunk and tried to hide it. Her family pretended like it was cool and wanted to play a drinking game, including Rudy. We got icecream and they brought her hot fudge on the side. We all told her it was a shot!:rotfl2:
Slo- I am so sorry to hear about your dad! I am especially sorry for your mom, since she has to watch her loved one slip away, and for your daughters, since it is hard enough for adults to understand!
DGal-I ate pounchkis and king bread yesterday. My mouth was coated in glaze. That can't be good!
bookswin- Welcome! You are right about a meet. It's been awhile. We need one!
momto- Contacts...they make my eyes feel so dry all the time. I used to wear them a ton when I was younger, though. Good luck to ds!
gef and mac- How's the diet? I ate punchkis and king bread yesterday...enough for both of you! I needed the calorie pig. I also had Cupid's icecream over the weekend. At least I had a salad for lunch that day!

Better get moving. Ds has lots to pack up for school. He had so much homework last night because he was sick Mon. and Tues. He had strep again! He had it exactly one month ago, too!
