sandy, yes i had my wallet taken.

i had to cancel credit cards and all that business matters.

i hope tig gets her stuff back.

You should see how sunburned Kevin and I both are (especially Kevin). We totally underestimated what the sun would do to us yesterday. Luckily I got sunscreen on the girls before they fried too :sunny:

I just couldn't stop looking at the back decks last night after the girls were done swimming. It's so nice to see all the furniture out, and flowers planted - it really does say that summer is finally here!!!!!:sunny:

That's terrible!!!!
I just can't imagine how mad this would make me feel:mad:

Thanks for the listings!!!! :)
Stephanie and I watched that Samantha Brown one already, and we really enjoyed it:thumbsup2

Good Morning Everyone!:flower3: The Avon Walk was amazing. There were points in time (about mile 22-ish) that I didn't think I could finish but I did!!! I walked 39.3 miles this weekend and did not get one blister!!! :cool1: we walked 26 on Saturday and 13.3 yesterday. i am a little sore but feel good. unfortuately i underestimated the sun and now look like a tomato; it hurts! also, when i got home my dad was like you probably lost some weight... so i go to weigh myself and i GAINED 4.6 pounds:scared1: i think i'm the only person who can walk 39 miles and GAIN weight... my sister said my chub probably just turned to muscle and muscle weighs more than chub sooo... who know!:confused3 overall, it was an amazing weekend and am so glad i did it! mike said next year he wants to do it with me!

Paint ~ glad you had beautiful weather! hope everything went smoothly with the wedding! :wizard:

Everyone else :wave2:

Hi guys! Wow, what an amazing weekend. Couldn't have asked for anything better. I did a TON of yard work, unfortunately my body is feeling it :rotfl:

paint - you had such a beautiful day, thought of you often. I hope all went well! Looking forward to hearing all about it.

rose - a belated happy birthday to your DH. Glad to hear he is doing well after his surgery.

Tiggern - so sorry about the purse. Isn't it such a pain to have to cancel everything. Hopefully everything will get sorted out without much trouble.

dani - Welcome to our little group!! I hope you come by often so we can get to know you.

mac - thanks for the show listings, DVRd the two I haven't seen. DD11 was watching the Pixar cake one after school today.

slo - so sorry about the sunburn. That happened to DD6 on the first really warm day, she had on a spaghetti strap shirt and her back and shoulders got burned. Luckly it wasn't too too bad. I've been a nut over the sunscreen since  .

disneygal - congrats on finishing the walk!!!! And without a blister :yay: . LOL about the weight, don't be too hard on yourself it might take a day or so to catch up with you.

Well, are there any Great America experts out there? Is there a TGM or DIS for Great America planning ;)? On our drive to Wisconsin the kids got sight of it and now they are dying to go. Since DD6 is now 48in I guess it would be more worthwhile for us to go. I haven't been for many, many years (before kids I think). Anyone with tips, suggestions, guidance, etc? Is it really possible to do the amusement side and water park side in one day? Yikes, the thought of going there completely uneducated is quite scary :scared: . My thought is to go on a weekday hopefully very soon as some schools aren't out yet so hopefully it will be less crowded plus not has hot as July or Aug. I'm open for any and all guidance.

Well, time to watch the news. Have a great night everyone.

Well, time to watch the news. Have a great night everyone.

I'll tell you all I know as I used to work there.

Best weekdays to go: Monday or Tuesday.

Worst days to go: Wednesday as it is AAA discount day. Saturday and Sunday. And any Summer holiday.

It is possible to do both if you plan your day carefully. Waterpark at one part of the day, theme park the other part. I would avoid doing the water park in July and the beginning of August as that is probably the hottest time of the Summer.

The best time of the year to go is before the middle of June or after the middle of August, and during Fright Fest.

If you do decide to go during the busy Summer months, plan on going on a day when it might rain. That is one of the factors that scares people away. Plus if it does rain, there are a lot of places to go and hang out. Gurnee Mills is nearby.

If it is possible, get Twicket that allows you to return any other day of the season. If you can't return during the summer, save those Twickets and go during Fright Fest. You'll have to pay an uppgrade charge, but it will be worth it.

If you can, get Fast Lane tickets early so you can get ahead of the line on most rides. The drawback is, these are limited and cost a pretty penny.

Make sure to get your hand stamped when you exit the park if you decide to go out to eat. Feel free to bring a grill as you can tailgate in the parking lot as long as you do not make a mess and/or clean up after yourselves.

That's all I can think of right now. If I have any more tips, I'll post it here.

I hope this helps.

i have had season passes to great america for over 10 years.

one of my sons worked there before.

don't buy your ticket at the park.

you can buy the same tickets at a discounted price at jewel grocery stores and the banks up this area.

fridays have been light so far this season.
saturday and sunday are usually packed as many families go then.
also, more people are off work on those weekend days and also go to the park.

you can buy the express pass/ called fast pass for a price.
it allows you to go to a specific area ahead of the regular line.
some of the rides on the fast pass only take you to the section ahead of the lines and then you merge into one line with the regular lines for the attraction.

on hot days, the water rides will be packed. easier to do the coaster then.

i live 10 minutes from the park.
i go for a short time unless i am meeting others there.

you can go on line and check out the six flags website.
if you have more questions, just give a holler.

Anyone here, besides me, put the air conditioning on?

I had to put it on at the store, because it faces West, and that late afternoon sun made it stifling hot in there. I really didn't want to put it on, but I didn't want any customers getting ticked off because it was 85 in there.

Then when I got home, it was well over 80 degrees in the house. Kevin and I agreed that it was time to put it on, because we wouldn't be able to sleep if we didn't. So, we are giving the AC a try, and it's working great!!!! :thumbsup2

Today is mine and Kevin's 13 year wedding anniversary :) It's so hard to believe that we've been married for 13 years now - time flies by so fast!!!!! We aren't doing anything today, because I have to work until 7pm, but we are celebrating all weekend by going downtown - it'll be great!!!!!:goodvibes

DG - Congrats on finishing the walk:woohoo: , that's an amazing accomplishment!!!! I'm sorry you gained some weight, but it could be for a lot of reasons. Because it was hot, your body could have retained alot of water to help you get through the walk and not get dehydrated. Congrats again!!!!:)

ID - My girls both got really sunburned a couple of weeks ago too :sunny: In fact, I even had to get the aloe out for Katie. Luckily, the sunscreen did well on them this past weekend, and they didn't get burned :thumbsup2
**I know what you mean about being sore after yardwork ::yes:: I was so bad a couple of weeks ago, that I thought I had been riding a horse for 2 days straight (this was from all the squatting I did). I hope you get less sore soon:wizard:

Peter - Those are some awesome tips - thanks!!!! :)

Mac - How fun that you get to go to GA so often :cool1: I haven't been there in years, like ID, and I would love to go back, but I know the girls wouldn't do the rides, so I don't want to waste the money. I should have them stay with a grandparent, so Kevin and I could go, we would have a ton of fun!!!!!

Well, I gotta run and go workout (inside today)
Have a good day today everyone!!!

 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, SANDY & KEVIN!!!!

May you share many more years of happiness together! Wishing you all good things!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: I was feeling so much better this morning when I woke up (after 40 minutes of hitting snooze of course :laughing") nothing ached at all, that is until i walked my 8 blocks to work... at block 6 my hip hurt soooo incredibly bad... my plan for the day is to sit at my desk... all day!!! :lmao: Thank you to everyone for the Congratulations! I am proud of myself!

Slo ~ HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you and Kevin!!! you should plan a 15 year Disney Vow Renewal. :goodvibes

ID ~ I wish I could help you out with the Great America questions but unfortunately I haven't been there in 7 years. I love it though. maybe i can talk mike into taking me! Good Luck though! I'm sure you will have lots of fun!:wizard:

everyone else ~ :wave2: Have a wonderful day!

Thank you for all of your nice thoughts and congratulations! Now, time for the report...
The day of the rehearsal, the weather was horrible! I was running in and out of places with my coat over my head! Matron of honor, dd, and I got our nails done and had lunch while now dh and ds went to see Indiana Jones. Then, out of towners arrived and came by for a tour of the house. We had our rehearsal, the food was wonderful, then I put the kiddies in bed and met up with the groomsmen, dh, and a few of the bmaids for some martinis at a local brewery. I stayed way too late, considering I still had work to do! It was so much fun, though! Got home and stayed up a few more hours finishing up stuff.
A few hours later...we packed up several cars and headed out to the ceremony/reception site. Two of my dsis' and their SO's came out with me. We worked for 4 hours straight and the place looked beautiful. We set up chairs and the arch down by the lake. Inside, we had to set up tables and chairs, as well as decorate. We had zillions of candles (which I decorated with ribbon and flowers), white lights, paper laterns, swags of flowers...it was stunning!!! To be continued...

So, we go home and start getting ready. It was going really smoothly, considering how many people were trying to get ready in one house! We were supposed to be out at the site at 2:30 (20 min drive), so at 2:30, I said- We can't wait anymore! We have to go! Umm...they were trying to stuff my youngest dsis in her dress! She started bc a few monthes ago and put on a few lbs., which have all gone to her chest! I left and they eventually got her in it, but once I was out there, my dad called and wanted to know if I had another one of my dsis' dresses. No...he forgot it and had to go back home! Once people started to arrive, I hid, waiting, in a side room. At 4, I said- We need to start lining up! That's when MOH broke the news to me- My dad was lost! He didn't know where he was!!!
Eventually, he arrived and we got lined up. The attendants walked out to "Please Forgive Me" by David Gray, and while we waited for the song to end, it hit me. I was holding my dad's arm, standing behind my two precious dcs, and my heart began to pound! DD said she was so nervous! "She's Got A Way About Her" began and we followed the kids down the aisle. Once I got up there, dh and I could not stop staring and smiling. I was beaming! Cheesy alert...we both kept getting teary eyed! I mouthed "stop it!" to him because he was making me cry! One of my bmaids was sobbing! So, the ceremony went nicely, except for the swarm of bugs that must of liked my hairspray! We did a family unity candle and also gave gifts to the kids after we exchanged our rings. We said a few things to the kids. I said something like- I am the luckiest mom in the world...ds, dd, and dh are the most improtant people in the world to me and I am so happy to have them as my family. DH said a few nice things, but the tear jerker was when he said he was looking for the one perfect person to love and he got lucky- he got three! I cried. See why I love that man?!? So, we did the "kiss the bride" and walked up the aisle thought a cascade of balloons!
Next up...reception!

Thank goodness we had appetizers, becasue we had to spend lots of time taking pics after the ceremony since we didn't get any done before! Anyway, we had pretty nice speeches by the Best man and MOH (which really meant a lot bc I know she hates public speaking), we ate some awesome food, did our ckae (the the theme from "Growing PAins), and did our dances. Dsis and her dfiance caught the bouquet and garter...they are getting married June 28th! We tried to do a little visiting, but before we knew it, it was clean up time. evryone really pitched in, so we really did not do much. We went out to our obnoxiously decorated car and tried to leave, only I was out of wiper fluid and i could not see out my windows! They tried to wipe them off, but it was just smearing! I drove to a big puddle and the groomsmen splashed handfuls of rain water onto my windshield. That worked!
We then went out to a the "downtown" area with some of the wedding party. I told dh we should dress like this more often- we got tons of congrats, high fives, etc. I even posed for pics with strangers. When the bars closed, we ended up at Denny's but by this time, I was about to die. My feet were killing me and I was so tired. We got home and went to bed about 6!

We spent the Sunday opening cards (hmoon will b paid off and then some!) and napping. We also went to the chinese buffet to complete my calorie filled weekend.
Now, it is back to regular life. i am thinking of a Chicago weekend next weekend. We've been there tons of times for the day, so what should we do? Where should we stay? Any suggestions in regards to anything, especially romantic stuff?
I will post pics soon. Our photographer is going to post them online, so I'll give you the link.

sandy, congratulations on your anniversary.

and to Mr. Slo also...........

hope you have a blessed day and lots of laughter and happiness today.

paint, love your reporting of the big day!

waiting anxiously for the pics.

son is sick with an abcess tooth.
no insurance
no job, he was laid off day before christmas last year.

about to pull my hair out on trying to find someone that will take him and payments.
the vet hospital can't see him until next wednesday which won't help the situation he has now. oh dear. it is always a worry no matter how old the boys get......

hope you all have a real great day.
winter is back.
furnace back on.....:rolleyes1

Happy Anniversary Sandy and Kevin!

Slo ~ Yes we have had the a/c on too. We get no air flow in our place, and since DH works from home, he needs to be cool.

Paint ~ I love your wedding report. No ideas for your trip though.

ID ~ I took DS9 for the first time last year and he had a lot of fun. I personally would not try to do both sides of the park in one day. On nicer/warmer days, the often "close" the water park for a short time due to over-crowding. (they just don't allow anyone to enter, as far as I know they don't make people leave) When we go this year, we will get a hotel and stay for two days. We plan to buy the "twicket" for $20, but a lot of the hotels have real good packages too.

Hi guys - school is almost out YEAH!!! DDs have 1.5hrs tomorrow, DS has full day tomorrow and 1/2 day Thurs. No more 6:30a alarm and no more lunches, can't wait :yay: .

peter and mac - thanks for the info on GA. I'm glad to hear they still have the Twicket, I looked all over their website and couldn't find anything on it. I really didn't want to try and squeeze it all in one day. We'll definitely go on a week day (M or Tu). As for tix, there is an offer on Lunchables for $10 off and adult ticket and a free kids ticket. There is also the $20 off on Coke cans. I'm thinking for our family of 5 the Lunchables deal would be a better deal - yes?

slo - party: Congrats on 13yrs! We just celebrated 13yrs back in May. Enjoy your weekend in Chicago!
*We don't have our air on - yet ;) . It was close yesterday, 80 degrees is the limit for DH. We have window fans for each bedroom so those worked nicely. I'm sure it will be on before the end of the week though, they are forecasting 87 for Thurs.

paint - congrats again. Looking forward to the pics, it sounds like you had a wonderful weekend!

mac - sorry about your son's tooth. I hope you find someone soon!

I just heard the buzzer on the dryer so I'd better go change loads. Have a great evening everyone!!

Hi gang! I thought I better check in since I had been MIA for awhile.

Slo and hubby - Congrats on your Anniversary! I hope you have many more happy years. Our 21st is this Friday! Where does the time go.

Paint - Love, love, love the wedding report. Can't wait to see the pics!

Mac - I hope the son feels better. Do your really think the vet is his best option?

School is out! DS had such a great team of teachers this year. I hope we are as blessed next year.

Stay dry from the storms.
Lori

Paint. Thanks for the wedding report and congratulations once again. It was a very nice read and it sounds like you and your new DH had a great time. From what I read, it looks like you and your family will truly live happily ever after.
