My question for @tigger92662/Joe (whom I consider an expert on this topic) surrounds the two Musket Mickey mugs.
RE: NAMING OF FORT WILDERNESS . . .
1. Fort Wilderness opened one-month after WDW in 1971.
2. Keith Kambak was taken off the FW project, so he got behind.
3. During this time, many workers were moved to other resorts.
4. After about 6-months later he was returned to FW Project.
. . . Keith found some of his construction workers.
. . . He could not get fully on back on schedule.
. . . Resort opened a tad late.
5. It grew to 950 acres in overall size.
6. When opened, it was simply named Fort Wilderness Campground.
7. Disney Added "Resort" To Campground about 1992.
. . . Now named as Fort Wilderness Campground
and Resort.
8. WDW was getting Fort Wilderness LODGE ("WL") ready.
. . . They started taking reservations in 1993.
. . . Many guests were getting confused, so too Cast Members.
. . . They wanted to halt further reservation confusions.
. . . WL Opening was planned for 1994.
. . . After construction, WL did open on schedule.
9. It finally became Fort Wilderness Resort about 2001.
. . . An island expansion was considered.
. . . So, whole area was to be inclusive.
. . . The idea was to rebuild/expand Discovery Island.
. . . Alas, problems came about and island was shut permanently.
NOTE:
Political Correctness got musket removed from logo in 2017.
It took about 18-months for all logos and merchandise to change
