What is Joe drinking from today

While I am glad this thread is active again, the previous post makes me extremely jealous! :headache:

At least Joe is drinking an American beer in the Canadian Pavilion Restaurant glass. 🇺🇲

I'll have to rustle up some of my WDW liquid accessories. :drinking1

Ps - all the years since at Epcot first time 1987 - we never have eaten at Le Cellier. It's like :confused3

Some Ice Tea with Big Al. Just can't help but hear blood in the saddle in the back of my mind. View attachment 950707

@JP6972, I just got a Big Al mug also.

Since I'm not going to be staying at the Fort in 2025, I thought I would bring the Fort home to me. So I cruised ebay and found some good frosty-type mugs :drinking1(not a coffee mug guy). Average price with tax and shipping was about $25 each.

Here's a pic of my mugs - only the HDDR boot mug on the right was already in my cabinet but wanted to show it with the other HDDR mug.

All have a clear glass handle.

My question for @tigger92662/Joe (whom I consider an expert on this topic) surrounds the two Musket Mickey mugs. Here is a close up.

Any idea which mug is older? The brown MM mug says "Fort Wilderness Campground Resort" and the yellow MM mug simply says "Fort Wilderness Resort". Given the mention of the word "Campground", I think it's older because Disney probably removed the word to infer that 'it's MORE than JUST a campground". But I could be wrong? :confused3 Any opinion, Joe or anyone else?

ED

PS - Joe had procured a Big Al mug for DD years ago (who is a YUGE Big Al fan) and she got that programming from her dad. So it was time for dad (me) to get one for himself. ::yes::

PPS - darn you, @JP6972, now I having to go looking for that shot glass....

@bama_ed I think you have to blame the Hoop Dee Doo shot glass delema on @tigger92662 .

My Mom gave me my Big Al mug. It was one of my Dad's first Disney World souvenirs when we went in 72. Big Al was one of his favorites.

If you got cought humming it's a Small World you received a dirty look but humming a little Blood in the Saddle and he was likely to join in.😊

@bama_ed, from what I have found about these mugs, you are correct in that the brown one is older. Although facing the wrong way, It's the difference in the eyes and the style of moccasins. If I were to guess, I would say the they made the brown ones to get on merch sales then refined and changed the coloring. If you look at the pic I posted of the the mug with the Yuengling, it is the newer style with the original brown coloring

You're right, @JP6972. My bad on that. In my head I was replying to you about the Big Al mug and then my mind went to the HDDR shot glass and I commented like you had it. Duh on me.

I shoulda known it was Joe all along. :rolleyes1

Ed

PS - no HDDR shot glasses on ebay currently

RE: NAMING OF FORT WILDERNESS . . .
1. Fort Wilderness opened one-month after WDW in 1971.
2. Keith Kambak was taken off the FW project, so he got behind.
3. During this time, many workers were moved to other resorts.
4. After about 6-months later he was returned to FW Project.
. . . Keith found some of his construction workers.
. . . He could not get fully on back on schedule.
. . . Resort opened a tad late.
5. It grew to 950 acres in overall size.
6. When opened, it was simply named Fort Wilderness Campground.
7. Disney Added "Resort" To Campground about 1992.
. . . Now named as Fort Wilderness Campground and Resort.
8. WDW was getting Fort Wilderness LODGE ("WL") ready.
. . . They started taking reservations in 1993.
. . . Many guests were getting confused, so too Cast Members.
. . . They wanted to halt further reservation confusions.
. . . WL Opening was planned for 1994.
. . . After construction, WL did open on schedule.
9. It finally became Fort Wilderness Resort about 2001.
. . . An island expansion was considered.
. . . So, whole area was to be inclusive.
. . . The idea was to rebuild/expand Discovery Island.
. . . Alas, problems came about and island was shut permanently.

NOTE:
Political Correctness got musket removed from logo in 2017.
It took about 18-months for all logos and merchandise to change
