It might not be a discount everyone can use, but they are providing something for everyone-- it just doesn't work if you already have tickets (although you can keep them for another time), or if you want more of a discount; but, they are still giving a discount!

yes, but not "ROOM-ONLY" discounts. Packages are not "room-only" and that's what alot of us are hoping for

If your heart is set on AK or WL have you considered a AAA membership? I got a 15% discount on my "room only" reservation with my AAA membership. I still booked it myself through CRO, I just gave them my AAA number when I made my ressies.

Of course, I'm still hoping for a better rate through Disney, but I will be content if this is the best I am able to do.

True! And package deals don't work for everyone for other reasons too. Some of my personal reasons are #1) I don't have more than 3 nights to stay in Oct. (and it most likely will be changed to offsite if room-only rate codes don't come out for my dates ), #2) I would never waste $ on the passes offered with the packages because we are never interested in experiencing more than the 4 main parks.

Friend of mine just got a room only code in a letter from disney so I am now 100% sure there will be no room only codes for the summer. The code was good for after July 5th

That's what I thought when I heard about these code letters some people are getting. No codes for us.

I got the card too, it is the exact same rates as my AP rate so it didn't help me except to get the room only w/o having to have the AP.

I have a feeling that depending when you are going, they have lots of rooms available, you may still see those room only codes coming out soon. I am going 8/21 and they still had availabilty at BWI, BC and YC for standards.

Ok, I'm hopeful again, and I really shouldn't complain. I first had the AAA rate, then got an AP rate. But I'd rather not have to buy an AP. But either way, I'm saving a few dollars.
But I STILL would love to get a postcard or have Disney release another public code.

But since they're sending the post cards to some people, don't you think it really means they have no plan on releasing a general public code?

I think they have a bunch of different marketing promos out there, and the one they have with the postcard is the exact same rates as the AP rates, only without requiring an AP. Just because they are sending out postcards doesn't mean that they won't also offer a room only code. Hang in there. They have sent out these kind of postcards as long as I can remember.

Can you get good room only discounts with a Disney Visa? And would they be worth getting the card?

Right now only Room only with Visa card code is for Florida Residents. We use to belong to the Disney Club & I think it was much better. This Disney card not what I thought it would be. Not alot of good discounts that I've seen since I've had it. Luckily we live in FL.

Aisling--I got a postcard when I was planning my trip, right before the room only codes came out for our trip, so don't give up hope. Our postcard, however, was for the values and we couldn't use it. I am convinced I got it because I ordered the Disney Planning DVD

Do those of you who are waiting for summer codes have a room booked for your trips at all? Do you have a Disney resort held at rack rates or something offsite?

I'm going to be in the same boat of hoping for codes for October, but I do have a room-only reservation for POFQ booked at rack rate at this time. I don't intend to pay this rate for a moderate, but I would pay something similar for, say, the WL (with a code). If no codes come, I'll be looking for something offsite. I haven't had to stay offsite in years, and I'm not looking forward to it at all.

Keeping fingers crossed for summer room-only codes for you guys and then fall room-codes for me.....
