C25K! Anyone else in?

Your post reminded me...I have plantar fasc in my left foot - yesterday I used KT tape and NO PAIN! It was fabulous!

Hey all! I have the dreaded W5D3 (the 20 minute run!) I am dreading it. Hopefully I will make it through, though. I don't want to have to repeat it! :)

Any advice on not getting bored or letting myself quit?

Sorry I don't have any advice, but wanted to say you go!!! You CAN do it!!!

I've tried to post this 4 times from my iPod touch, if it doesn't work I am going to bed. For the 20 min run, don't even give yourself the option of quitting for 10 minutes, then push through the next 5, then you can't give up, you're almost there. Mental segments, great music, you can do it!!!

I did get my run in tonight, in the rain, at dusk, and I rocked it! Nice faster pace, a lot less leg pain, but it was a few steps back from w5d3. I'm not sure why the program does this??!!

I did W5D3 last night. I wanted to make sure the 20+ minutes I ran at the beginning of the week was not a fluke! Luckily, I was able to do it again. I am planning on doing it once more tomorrow before I start Week Six next week.

I agree with the poster above that you just have to MAKE yourself keep going. Set little goals, like...5 minutes, then 10 minutes, then 15. It makes it go by much quicker and it is not quite as daunting.

This is like what I do but I'm only on week 1...8 runs is too much for me to do so I do 4 in my mind - "okay 1 down 3 to go" to get half way through then great! I'm half way through, now only 3 left...:goodvibes whatever it takes right?!

GREAT JOB getting your run tonight! I know that was tough for you and am glad you rocked it!:cheer2:

Please tell me about this. I have it in my right heel and it's really been bothering me. I have a brace I wear at night, but it doesn't seem to be working. I do ok when I run, but usually the day after I'm in terrible pain.

Thanks!

I haven't had this, but I have read that insoles can really help. Hope you find a solution. I am off to get advice about shin splints today!

I survived the dreaded 20 minute run! :cheer2::cheer2:

I use an application on my Droid that beeps when I should be running and beeps again when I should walk. It counts down the time. Well, I learned a few weeks back that if I can see the thing (I set my phone on the front of the treadmill) it KILLS me to watch the time count down. Since then, I always make sure that I have something to cover the phone up for the running parts. Did that make any sense?

Well, I had a new playlist, and once I started running I made it through the first song and was curious as to where the time was. I decided that at the end of the second song I would peek at the phone and see. Lucky for me, I somehow managed to pick two long songs for the first two songs (6 minutes and 5:30 minutes) so by the time I peeked I was halfway done! Anyway I just kept peeking after each song and made it through. Silly, I know, but whatever it takes, right? :)

Now, I am only doing a 13 minute mile, so I might not be running fast enough, but I figure that I will make it through the program then work on going faster. That makes sense, doesn't it?

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well!

That is awesome! I think a 13 minute mile is great!

Hi! I'm new!

My name is Amy, I'll be (gasp) 30 on 3/24. :-)

I'm aiming to run the Princess Half-Marathon 2011, and hoping to start Couch to 10k this weekend!!!

CONGRATULATIONS! After I did that run, my confidence soared. I am sure you feel the same. Great job!

Welcome! I just joined this group this week, and my goal is also the Princess Half in 2011. I am an old lady compared to you. I am 36 today (3/12)!

A few questions for you guys...

1) Since there are only three training days a week, do you take the other four off, or do you do other activities, or do you just plow ahead with the next week?

2) Do you treadmill or run outside, or some combination of both? I just joined a gym (:scared1:), but the gym is also about 20 feet from Central Park! The park won't be an option this weekend, as we're in the middle of a monsoon, but I figure it'll be more practical running rehearsal for WDW.

I do the c25K every other day, regardless. I do yoga, an ab video, and sometimes a little strength on the off days.

I only run outside. Snow, rain, whatever. The hardest was when it was 20 and below wind chills, but weather is warmer now.

My husband and I train on M/W/F. I use the biggest loser on the wii on T/TH/S wiegh in/ Sun. Sometimes I will throw in just dance or wii fit plus. We also walk in the nieghborhood.

Finished week 1, not sure if I am ready for week 2. But I will give it a try. Who would of thought me running outside. :woohoo:

Hi I've just started the c25k and run on a treadmill. I mainly walk on the other days but I'm thinking I should do some other form of training too. I just haven't figured out what yet or how I'm finding the time to do it!!

I run three days a week and cross-train three other days (wii EA Sports Active) and have one complete rest day.

I run on the treadmill right now because my husband is deployed and we homeschool so I have no alone time. I will run outside eventually when my husband returns.

Today was the first time I worked out since last Saturday. :sad2: Have not been feeling well. But, I got on the treadmill today and attempted to do the virtual 5K, but I was only able to do 2 miles. My body is still feeling the affects of this stomach bug I've been fighting. But, I'm glad I got back on there. :thumbsup2

I will hopefully attempt W6D3 sometime this week.
