C25K! Anyone else in?

A few questions for you guys...

1) Since there are only three training days a week, do you take the other four off, or do you do other activities, or do you just plow ahead with the next week?

2) Do you treadmill or run outside, or some combination of both? I just joined a gym (:scared1:), but the gym is also about 20 feet from Central Park! The park won't be an option this weekend, as we're in the middle of a monsoon, but I figure it'll be more practical running rehearsal for WDW.

I run three days a week and do a DVD three days a week and take one day off. I definitely recommend doing something on the crosstraining days, it make the running days much easier. I am doing Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred, it's less than 30 mins but intense. I tell myself I can at least find 30 mins in my day to workout. I'm also finding that the strength training on the DVD is helping my runs too.
I run on the treadmill because I have a little guy, so I usually run when he naps.

Hi guys-haven't been around for a while and I'm really glad to see so many newcomers!! Started my new job working for Mickey and BOY has that been a shift! I spent 20 years working behind a desk and now I'm outside in the elements-which for Central Florida has been RAIN the last 2 days. This job is very physical and is a workout unto itself.

I did get through Week 5 day 2 before I started work, but I need to see how this shift is going to affect me. I don't want to push myself too hard on my off days because I really need the energy when I'm working. Once I adjust to the new schedule and physical labor, I'm going to pick back up where I left off.

I survived the dreaded 20 minute run! :cheer2::cheer2:

WOW that is so great! It seems impossible to me but, I know I will get there too. I have the c25k app on my iphone so it gives me verbal clues. If I could look a the time I would never get done. That is good idea to just peek after a song. You should try and find the longest songs you can.

Hi! I'm new!

My name is Amy, I'll be (gasp) 30 on 3/24. :-)

I'm aiming to run the Princess Half-Marathon 2011, and hoping to start Couch to 10k this weekend!!!

Welcome! I just joined this group this week, and my goal is also the Princess Half in 2011. I am an old lady compared to you. I am 36 today (3/12)!

Wow, cool! I want to do that too. Maybe when we are done with our c25k we can start a new thread (5K to princess hm maybe?)
I am 35 and about 90 pounds over weight so this is tough (I am tall though so that helps a lot) I have lost 8 pounds on WW in the last few weeks! :cool1: I am not sure I can make it but, it won't be from lack of trying. Hopefully my weight loss continues to go fast so I can run easier.

I run three days a week and cross-train three other days (wii EA Sports Active) and have one complete rest day.

I run on the treadmill right now because my husband is deployed and we homeschool so I have no alone time. I will run outside eventually when my husband returns.

Today was the first time I worked out since last Saturday. :sad2: Have not been feeling well. But, I got on the treadmill today and attempted to do the virtual 5K, but I was only able to do 2 miles. My body is still feeling the affects of this stomach bug I've been fighting. But, I'm glad I got back on there. :thumbsup2

I will hopefully attempt W6D3 sometime this week.

hope you are feeling better. I took 3 days off due to the rain and boy did I feel it today!

Oh yay I am glad you checked in I was wondering if you started yet. How fun!! I starte my new job 2 weeks ago and it was a serious adjustment also. Hopefully we will see you this summer. Are you at BB or TL?

W9D2 done. just one more run til graduation!! My time was horrible because I took off 3 days due to the rain but I did make it the whole 30 min without to much difficulty. Glad to hear from everyone on the thread. Welcome old and new. Good luck!!!

You should just worry about your speed as your next goal. You should be so proud of yourself! Just one more day, I bet you are anxious to get back out there now.

I try to go every other day if my schedule allows, and on the off days, I might do wii fit or take a bike ride, weather permitting. I take one or two days off per week. I only run outside and waited to start til the weather got a little better. I know it's going to cool off again, but I'm feeling like I really want to complete this.

I only run outside. Snow, rain, whatever. The hardest was when it was 20 and below wind chills, but weather is warmer now.
:worship::worship::worship: I don't know how you do it. I'd like to think that once I am done with the C25k that maybe next winter I will be more like you.

Congrats on your new job. Hope it's as magical as our vacations there have been.

Whoo hoo!! How exciting!!

I finished week two last night. I'm so excited. I didn't mind the 90 second jogs, and I liked that I only had 6 total instead of 8. I'm looking forward to this week, because I'll only have 4 runs each time. I did an extra minute on my last run last night, to see if it would kill me, and it didn't. I think I'm going to be ok this week too. This is a new feeling for me to be excited about exercising. I even found myself planning in my third session this week to be sure i'd get it in on the least rainy part of the weekend. There was no way I'd ever think about going out for exercise in the rain before now.

I thought about you last night and wondered if you were okay. Sorry you've been sick.

I just finished W6D2 today, I wasn't real happy with it, but I kept walking at the end to get in 3 miles. I didn't want to commit to virtual 5K since I knew DH would be working, but it was nice this morning so I took the girls to the park with me. I kept up with my laps by what they were doing when I got to them (drop off at playground, playing, chasing me, splashing in mud, at the picnic shelter, at the gazebo, walked with me...)

I run three days a week, and I do a spin class one day, Pilates one day, and Yoga one day. I take one day off.

I have been running on a treadmill, but now that it is warming up, I am going to transition to outside. I think outside will be harder for me, so I may have to backtrack a little bit.

Wow, cool! I want to do that too. Maybe when we are done with our c25k we can start a new thread (5K to princess hm maybe?)

I have been lurking on the 2010 Princess Half-Marathon Thread. They all participated last weekend. I am sure there will be a new one soon for the 2011 race. It will be fun to join in!

I finished W7D2 today. I have been having shin problems, but I went to our local running store yesterday (Fleet Feet), and I think they helped. They thought my shin problems are connected to knots in my calves. They recommended The Stick. I used it yesterday and today, and I think it is helping. I really hope so. I guess I will know more in a few days.

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes I'm feeling better today. I just think my body was still feeling the effects during my run this morning.

:rotfl: I'll take half! :thumbsup2

W9D3 DONE!!! I have officially graduated. I am not at the 5K distance but I will probably start working on distance now. It feels great to have accomplished my goal. Losing the 25 pounds helped but I have alot more to go. I have probably stuck with this longer than any other exercise in my life. It is really hard to believe 9 weeks ago I could barely make it one minute and now I am running 2.5 miles in 30 min. To all of you who think you cant do it. YOU CAN. I am proof. I still have 50 pounds to loose but now that I have this down. It will be much easier. I actually look forward to exercising now. This is a first in my 42 years of life. :rotfl:

Now I finally get my new shoes!:yay:

Yay!!! Good for you!

I followed everyones advice here and slowed down my pace from the first time and was able to do W1D1! I have a very long way to go but I just want to thank everyone here for their support, I've never been able to do that in my life

I started my C25K the 1st week of January and have only made it to w4d1 so far. Not too impressive. My DH just announced that if I can do a half-marathon next January (2011), he'll let me take the family to Disney for the Disney half-marathon. I'm hoping to use that as major motivation to get me moving! I was hurting a lot after my 1st work-out of week 4 so we'll see how things go. I'm excited to have a support group here!!!

Amanda
