C25K! Anyone else in?

A few questions for you guys...

1) Since there are only three training days a week, do you take the other four off, or do you do other activities, or do you just plow ahead with the next week?

2) Do you treadmill or run outside, or some combination of both? I just joined a gym (:scared1:), but the gym is also about 20 feet from Central Park! The park won't be an option this weekend, as we're in the middle of a monsoon, but I figure it'll be more practical running rehearsal for WDW.

I run MWF and I do Zumba classes and strength training T TH. Saturday I strength train and walk. Sunday, nothing!

I run on my treadmill, but I am hoping to get up the courage to start running outside soon, once the rain stops!

w9d3 done!!! I have officially graduated. I am not at the 5k distance but i will probably start working on distance now. It feels great to have accomplished my goal. Losing the 25 pounds helped but i have alot more to go. I have probably stuck with this longer than any other exercise in my life. It is really hard to believe 9 weeks ago i could barely make it one minute and now i am running 2.5 miles in 30 min. To all of you who think you cant do it. You can. I am proof. I still have 50 pounds to loose but now that i have this down. It will be much easier. I actually look forward to exercising now. This is a first in my 42 years of life. :rotfl:

Now i finally get my new shoes!:yay:

congrats!

I followed everyones advice here and slowed down my pace from the first time and was able to do W1D1! I have a very long way to go but I just want to thank everyone here for their support, I've never been able to do that in my life

Way to go on finishing W1D1. That is the hardest part, just getting started!

:worship:Well done to you-you should be very proud of yourself.
Congratulations:cheer2:

So, I did W1D1 on Saturday, and then a half hour of cross-training on the bike yesterday, and WHOOO am I in some serious pain this morning! :lmao:

I am going to attempt W1D2 this evening, but will probably not be able to run the pace I did on Saturday. Is that normal?

I don't worry about my pace at ALL. If I appear to be jogging (even if it looks like it is in slow motion) that all that that matters. Getting those feet off the ground is the important part to me.

Oh yay I am glad you checked in I was wondering if you started yet. How fun!! I starte my new job 2 weeks ago and it was a serious adjustment also. Hopefully we will see you this summer. Are you at BB or TL?

I'm at TL...

This is so inspiring!!! I started the program the last week of January, and I remember thinking I could never get to Week Nine. I am keeping a journal and every once in a while I'll go back and read at the beginning. It makes me feel good to know how far I've come, and reading stories like yours gives me hope that I'll be able to achieve my goal, too! I am starting Week Six this week, and I have lost 20 pounds so far. I still have much more I want to lose, but I, too, have stuck with this longer than any other program.

Enjoy your new shoes!!!!

Great job! I found that I had to slow my pace down alot. I just finished week 4 and the only way I did it was to slow down. It's a little frustrating but it's more important to be able to get through it!!!

So where do you all run? I run around a little part of my neighborhood but, I am getting bored just going in circles. There aren't any running groups or anything that I can find on my side of town. I evidently live on the sedentary side of town, who knew?

Also, does anyone carry any pepper spray or anything? I live in a very suburban area but, I still have some anxiety about it.

Could you carry your cell phone with you? If you see someone following you, call someone. It works great. Also, if you have your keys with you, those work well against attackers :)

 woo hoo!!! Congrats!!

I run through a park here - I take my dogs with me (german shepherd and shelty) so I'm not worried about people coming up to me. I would carry my cell phone and possibly pepper spray if I didn't have them! As it is I usually have my cell in case I fall and hurt myself. :goodvibes I don't like going through the neighborhood - cars drive too fast!

I did W1D3 today - only 3 days in but WOW what a difference today from day 1! Did the same route and did it 4 minutes faster. (DD and I have a route at the park and end up walking about 20 minutes after we do the c25k b/c she likes to go one way until we cross the river, which is more than 1/2 way)

Finished W7D2. A week break, we're redoing some of the house so I haven't been up for anything but finishing it.

Did the st. patricks day 5k today which I accounted for W7D2! I did it in 42:24, very good for my first time and I didn't feel too bad. The running was a lot easier, but I have a feeling it was because of the week break. I seem to have a longer recover time than most people.

Oh well, big achievement today!

Hope you all have a lovely evening.

Back on the program. I'm repeating W7. Last week I finished D1 and D2, but went to Myrtle Beach on a guys golf trip from Thursday through Sunday. I had all intentions of completing W7D3 while I was down there, but as you can imagine, I was rarely in any shape to go running. Not enough will power I guess.

Well, back home now and starting W7 over. It was tough to get back into the program, but I pushed myself through D1. Gained 6 lbs. while I was away. Yes, we had a few alcoholic beverages and spent a small fortune on cab rides:rolleyes:.

Whew. Week 6d3 done. Never thought I'd run for 25 minutes, and I'm not sure I ever want to again! But I will Wednesday! My legs are killing me! PLEASE tell me that gets better!

I was showing off my newly defined calf muscles to a girlfriend today, and she said "they should have their own zip code" :lmao:

I learned a valuable lesson today. Running the day after donating blood might be a little too soon when you aren't in great shape. I made it though D6W1, but it was terribly tough. I was so dizzy and weak after I finished that I could barely make it upstairs! I can't figure out any reason for it other than the fact that I gave blood yesterday. Would that affect me? I know they say not to exercise for the rest of the day on the day you give blood, which I did, but this was still within 24 hours.

Anyway, I made it. Even if it was rough!

Made it through W1D2... was disappointed because it took me 51 minutes to go the same 3.4 miles I went on Saturday (treadmill), but I was going on a 1.0 incline instead of .5, and I was super sore all day from never exercising before like, ever, so.... :)

I'm so excited! My MIL just offered to lend me her treadmill so I can make it through my program. It will make a huge difference since I have 3 little kids at home!!!

Finished w2d1 tonight. Lot easier than I thought it would be. Maybe this won't be so bad after all.
