I have a question for all of you who have stayed at both preferred and standard. Aside from the point difference, what is your preference and why? Thanks for the input.

the first time I got the BW view - boy I loved it - and I tried to get it - after failing 5 times and getting each of those time the main pool view (which I HATE) - I decided to go standard - I really like standard view - less points - a different action - instead of screaming and splashing kids and adults - you see the people leave and come - in some ways more interesting - on one of our visits I asked for a water view (instead of close to the elevators) and they put us on the end - next to the water close to the parking lot - I loved it - you could walk out the back door and be close to your car (okay not as close as OKW) but alot closer than through the main lobby. So getting back and forth to the car was very easy - okay if I am at Epcot/Studios - why do I need my car - well Spicey was in the Epcot kennel and after walking it twice I decided (really my feet) that driving over was the only way to go.

I try him on one visit at the Studio kennel - but they don't really have a place to walk a dog much less a cat - so that didn't work- to bad because that would be great for the Epcot resorts.

However mother says she needs the elevator - so the other visit have been close to the elevator - we generally get real close no more than a door or two down with standard view.

I love a boardwalk view!!! I think it's great!! There is nothing better than seeing the sun shine on the water when you wake up in the morning. But I also love a pool view, since I am a people watcher, by nature. It's a lot of fun to see some of the dumb things people do--for example, it starts to rain, and everyone jumps out of the pool and covers their heads with their towel as they run toward shelter! Hello!! They were in a pool, how much wetter can they get??:p

We've had the preferred view only once...and that was enough. We had a beautiful boardwalk view, but the noise was horrible. Between the honking boat horns and the obnoxious drunks from the clubs, it was a nightmare. After staying there, I think those rooms should be considered standard rate rooms. I'll use less point and go for the quiet!

I cannot comment on the standard view because we always stay in a perferred view room. We always request no boardwalk or Luna Park pool, and we always request a view of the quite pool. It is very relaxing to sit on the balcony and watch the boats go by on there way to MGM.

We've been fortunate enough to have experienced a preferred view at the BWV during our last two visits. Our first time (Oct 2001) was right on the boardwalk. It was truly wonderful. Noise was never an issue, either from the clubs or the boat horns. We usually spent our balcony time in the evening, trying to catch the fireworks from Epcot. Our second time (Aug 2002) was a view of the big pool. Once again, noise was never an issue. Our balcony time was usually first thing in the morning when it was still comfortably cool and the pool wasn't open yet. This location was a bit of a walk from the elevators but once we discovered the enclosed stairwells, it was closer to everything than we had thought.

If I can spare the additional points, I will request a preferred view. Otherwise, I'm always quite content with a standard view.

We also have had both. You really can't beat the BWV, if you can get it. We didn't have any issues with noise, and really enjoyed Illuminations from the balconey every night. Having said that, if we are watching our points or have a long stay then we generally go for the standard view. Last October we looked out the front entrance. As much as I thought I would hate it, we actually enjoyed the people watching. We are returning in 2 weeks and booked too late to get a standard view so are going back to the preferred. Can't wait to see what we get.

hi: after requesting the bwv (even at the 11 month mark) several times and only getting regular preferred views, we usually try for the standard views to conserve points. i'd much rather look out over the entrance than look at the back of a service building near the luna park pool. we'll see if we get the elusive boardwalk view this november for our ladies only trip. this is the first request on the ressie.

We go for standard view. Luna Park pool is not good enough for us to spend our points on(that's what we got when we had preferred view). I actually like the standard view, and really like the lower points!
