I know that the busy times for disney and the busy times for DVC are not the same.I was wondering if some one could tell me the busy and slow times at DVC.

Thanks,

Mom2RB

I'm new like you but it would appear to me through reading these boards the last few weeks is that the holiday times are busiest for DVC - Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. I'd be interested to hear from more experienced DVC members what non-holiday times are busiest for DVC.

And that's the right order also. Day by day calling is a good idea for many types of reservations during the first two weeks of December. Only really needed for SV and GVs during F&W, believe it or not, the actual holiday weeks are easier than the first two.

Hate to sound like such a newbie, but when's the Food & Wine Festival? What's the F & W festival - is it in all parks or just World Showcase? Is it always the same time every year?

The last couple posts have interpreted "busy" to mean it's hard to get reservations at those times even if you make them well in advance. It's more than just being "full".

The DVC operation is structured so that DVC resorts are just about full just about all the time. At least they have sold enough points to make that happen. A small percentage of those points are used in other ways, but DVC will also accept cash reservations when there is space available. As a result you will not see DVC resorts be only 50-75% full much of the time as can happen with normal resorts and hotels.

We are buying at SSR but we would like to try all of the DVCs so I would like to base some vacations at times the parks are slow and we could get in at another resort.

Newbie here too......Why are the 1st two weeks in December the busiest for DVC and yet the slowest for Disney parks? Is it as simple as saying a lot DVC people go when its the slowest for better point value?

Last year, over the second weekend in Dec. we went to WDW, stayed at the Dolphin and AKL and enjoyed the Christmas experience at WDW for the first time. We were there over a weekend, and then on Monday and Tuesday. People seemed to come out of the woodwork in the evenings for such things as the Candlelight Processional, and the lights at MGM. The parks were deserted during the day, but night was a different story. I did talk to many people who were locals, and there were others who were with the student singers in the CP.

Very recently we joined DVC. I was able to make a reservation last week for a weekend at the VWL in a studio in December, this was 2 1/2 months from our stay, and it was at the place that I've heard is so nicely decorated that it's many people's favorite place. So, mom2rb, I think you'll be able to stay at other resorts. During my 1 month in DVC, I've also made reservations for VB (for March) and BCV(for May). VB does not include a weekend while BCV is for a Sat. and Sunday night stay. All are for a room or studio, because it's just DH and me.

So, this has been my experience. DH said that he's very pleased with how I'm setting up our Disney visits, I'm in charge of keeping track of points, and we're looking forward to lots of happy times!!

F&W Festival = International Food & Wine Festival. Takes place in Epcot in October & November. I've never been to it so I am not sure if it runs the entire months of October & November or for just a certain periods of time during these months.

Would love to visit during it one of these next 50 years! :)
