Hello World Leaders! Come join us, The United States, as we wage war on Iraq, November 14th in Bagdad! It should be a good time: CNN is coming, and we have some really cool new missiles and stuff. Saddam is totally evil, so you're not going to want to miss this!!!!

Pokie and Saffron, I respect your wish to insulate the families of our servicemen/women from any unnecessary stress. :D

However, the lesson of Vietnam is a clear one. It wasn't the Generals or the President who finally brought a halt to the killing.................. it was THE AMERICAN PEOPLE:D :D .

The BEST way to insure the safety of our soldiers is to AVOID at all costs putting them in harm's way. WAR should be our LAST alternative.

Hey, over 100 Congressmen and 30 Senators voted AGAINST the IRAQ WAR RESOLUTION. You may think that I'm an anti-war lunatic, but their patriotism should not be assailed.

Do you know the date of this vote?

Sorry for the typo. I meant 32 Senators. However, I was in error. I just looked up the vote which approved the Resolution:

HOUSE.........296-133

SENATE........77-23

Palm, the date of the vote was 10-10-02 :D

I guess these are my thoughts today.... we can beat this horse to kingdom come..but I stand by what I asked last night and did not get answered.. You keep discussing this but you give no solution...you must have something you would like us to do..

What is it you would have us do Eros??? how do we remedy this.. Quite frankly, I would prefer we do not go to war myself.. I lived through Vietnam and lost many friends during that time.. Actually lost my highschool boyfriend who took me to my Senior Prom...but those are the realities of war... and I feel SH has had enough chances here... I will NEVER, NEVER forget or get over what was done in this country on 9/11... I want to feel safe again and I want the suicide missions stopped... and if that means go get SH... then so be it..BUT I am still willing to listen to your alternatives of what we should do instead..

Mackey, perhaps you're not reading my posts:D . I've been quite clear. However, let's not confuse Saddam with Osama. There's no evidence to date that IRAQ or its citizens participated in or planned the horror of 9-11. On the contrary, 15 SAUDIS blew themselves up..........but George is kissy-pooh with the Saudi leadership because of their OIL:mad:  .........

If Saddam casts the inspectors out, I would support WAR in spite of the devastation which it would bring to our troops and innocent Iraqis. If the inspections continue, there's no reason for intervention UNLESS George gets toooooooooo bloodthirsty.

Dear God...oops sorry.. I am reading your posts.. every single one of them...and especially the ones where you use name calling to emphasize your points.. *sigh* but what I was asking you is what you want US to do...you feel very passionate about this so I thought that maybe we should be doing something.. the American people... that was my question.. :)

HOUSE.........296-133

SENATE........77-23

The sad truth in my opinion about those #'s is that allot of them are not votes against war, but against the Republican Party. It could have been whether or not to eat cheese in the morning and they would still be opposed solely based on what the other side does.

I guess the inspectors are supposed to stay there forever?

LOL.........well how about at least until Saddam dies??????

I'd rather see several hundred inspectors there indefinitely to assure his inability to produce WMD, rather than witness the thousands of deaths which a war will bring.

Unfortunately, George would be able to then assure our safety, but he would not have his beloved "regime change". What do animals like Bush do when they smell blood??? They attack:( :( :( ..........

I cannot believe you wrote that in reference to the President of the United States... Republican or Democrat, you referred to the President as an animal.. I am in shock..

You really believe that some inspectors will keep him from being able to produce WMD? And you called my views earlier naive?

Nikole, if you believe that Inspections cannot prevent Hussein from developing WMD, then you must be in favor of immediate WAR. Why "bother" with useless inspections??? Send the troops to start the killing NOW. I believe that your philosophy is the Bush philosophy, but for political reasons he's paying lip service to the U.N. until we're ready to attack..............

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, what would you call a man who is willing to needlessly sacrifice young American lives and innocent Iraqis for a pathological vendetta?????? A leader???? A statesman???? I don't think so.

My guess is that we bother with them in order to prove to the rest of the world, which unfortunately is full of people that don't realize the danger that Hussein poses, what a lying maniac he really is. We were certainly under no obligation to wait for inspectors - the fact that Hussein has repeatedly ignored the cease-fire agreement is enough reason to attack.

I'm sorry to say that I'm not at all shocked by what EROS said. He has nothing at all to back up his position, other than vicious name-calling.

Don't know if it is Bush's philosphy or not. The US and the UN are giving the man YET another attempt to preserve life. No I don't believe it will do any good. However, I'm willing to go along with the politics of it, if it means that we will have more people on our side when Saddam kicks the inspectors out again. To think that Saddam will not impede the inspectors in one form or another is ridiculous. What's the old saying......"fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

More of the same. I'm shocked. Not.

Needlessly sacrfice? The defense of this country often calls for sacrifice - I wouldn't call that needless.

Pathological vendetta? And what evidence do you have for this diagnosis, other than your own hatred of the President?

If he is really the blood thirsty animal you portray him to be then why didn't we go to war against Iraq ages ago? Sorry but you've been portraying him in this fashion for probably a year now. We haven't yet gone to war with Iraq, does that mean your name-calling looses credibility since he has proven you false?
