It all comes down to money. It's much cheaper to overlay the Tower with a Guardian theme then to revamp energy into a new Guardians attraction. Cost were flying through the roof on the proposed Energy revamp. They will also save in the long run on not having to pay CBS a licensing fee.
- Still throwing away money on something that is not broken or in need of change.
- If they want to force an overlay use RNR that is ready for the change due to "creative differences".
- Not building it at Energy does not change the fact that the Energy attraction needs to be shut down.
- LOTS of money is wasted every day to run it for the couple hundred people looking for AC, seat and nap.
- The licensing issue is not important here since Disney will still pay for Paris.
- And all Disney has to do is renovate it with the Tokyo story line which would be the least costly option.
They did a overlay on Maelstrom for Frozen.
Sorry we did not like it at all.
- Maelstrom needed a complete makeover no matter what went in there.
- Disney found when A&E were in Norway the first time, families were finally going to Epcot.
- Two bird with one stone.
- I think we will see more and more "Disney" find it's way in to Epcot.
- And why not? It's Disney World. It gets families in there. It gets kids exposed to foods, shops, entertainment.
- Epcot was never built as Walt intended, it's in dire need of a re-imagining in Future World especially.
I went on the ride expecting to hate it based on what video etc I saw. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it.
