so i was thinking about packing a bunch of unopened water bottles in my checked luggage instead of buying & shipping down or buying in the parks (expensive i hear). has anyone ever done this before? any problems with TSA at the airports?

Truthfully, I tried it once and the bottles were heavy so it brought my luggage above the 35 lb limit which meant a 50 dollar over weight charge.

next I found that if you can get to a dvc resort or ft wilderness. the 6 pack of water they sell in there is only slightly higher than in a store (maybe 2 dollars more) I don't ship it anymore.

Also try garden grocer for onsite delivery.

refillable bottles. Ice water is free all over the park and they stay cold much longer and there isn't the waste. If you don't like the taste then bring some Crystal Light packets.

I just read another thread where someone was upset because her luggage was soaked and she did not have any water in her luggage.
I would suggest taking the DTD bus and get off at the 2nd bus stop and walk across the street to the Hess gas station to buy a case of water. We do this and it has always worked out well for us. The price is not bad either.

You won't have any trouble with TSA in your checked luggage, but the weight of water adds up quickly. I would look into a grocery delivery, having water shipped from Staples.com or another online retailer, or making a grocery stop on your way in.

tried that once and some exploded in my checked luggage and what a mess (and yes had in large baggies as well) so then mailed two cases to myself to resort and that got so expensive that we tried gardengrocer and they deliver to resort and is cheapest way to go but have seen where some on this board uses staples and have it sent so not sure what that price is.:confused3 on the TSA the water just cannot be in the carry on.. and the one post correct it can make your luggage over weight real easy as well. plus we get other things that will need from garden grocer and then do not have to pack it.:surfweb:

This is what we do. Refillable water bottle with insulated sleeve and just keep refilling with ice and water from quick serve locations. Any location that has a soda fountain will give you free cups of ice and/or water.

I thought someone mentioned that Costco or Sam's Club has the 24-pack of water shipped for $10 (or around there). Doesn't seem too bad of a price.

We've done it many times with no problems. Split a case or two of water over our 5 suitcases--arrived intact, no problems with TSA. Just my personal experience. Not saying it's the best way, but it worked for us.

Refillable bottles here. Some people say they hate the taste of the water, but it hasn't bothered us once in all of our trips. We freeze them overnight and then refill them randomly throughout the day in the parks. It works best for us to A) not carry several bottles of water around. We go in August and drink tons of water during the day.
and B) it's cheaper which is a bonus:)

And now that someone mentioned it, my luggage was all wet when we arrived last summer. And odorless (thank goodness!). I wonder if it actually was someones water?
