Hi,

I was hoping someone could help me. My sister wants to go to WDW in March 2010. I have a reservation already booked for myself in March 2010. My use year is March so I would be using my 2010 points. In order to book my sister's reservation, I would need to borrow some points from 2011. Since my sister has two little ones, I am afraid she could cancel on me. If my sister cancels, could I switch the borrowed points to my reservation and bank the unborrowed points?

Thanks,

Doris

Are you bookng the same size unit for each of you. . If you are sure you are going you might want to book your reservation using the borrowed points to start with and and put your sister's name on the reservation you already have. Then if your sister backs out you can just bank the 2010 points as long as it is more than 31 days prior to the trip. I don't know if you can bank holding account points which happen if you cancel less than 31 days out.

Planning with family can be a chanllenge - I am in that situation now and spent quite a good amount of time changing names on reservations the other day because of people backing out for the Christmas trip and wanting to go for the Sept/Oct one. Fortunately I got a very patient and knowledgeable CM .
Good luck and may you have a great trip.

Are you booking the same size villa and same resort that you booked for yourself? If so, no problem at all if your sister cancels (at least 31 days prior to arrival). Just cancel your reservation and change the name on your sister's reservation to your name. Bank the returned points.

If you are booking something different for your sister, then it gets a little more difficult. But MS should still be able to reallocate the points such that you can bank the current year points used for your reservation.
