Booking additional Tier 1 FP+

I have searched several boards for this info and it seems there may be some conflicting reports so I wanted to hear from those that have recent experience. Can you book additional tier 1 FP attractions after using your first tier 1 and letting both your tier 2 FP expire?

Example would be booking 2 tier 2 FP early in the day before your arrival and letting them expire but then showing up and using your tier 1. Can I then book another tier 1?
