What does a Cat 1 have that a Cat 2 doesn't?
What does a Cat 1 have that a Cat 2 doesn't?
A Piano.
Actually, only the Walt suite had the piano, and I believe they are now gone on both of the ships.
The Cat 1 is 1,029 square feet and the Cat 2 is 945 square feet. They are very similar. Main differences are decor and furnishings.
BTW Billinaz, we stayed in YOUR suite last month. My wife liked it better than the Roy Suite as she felt the layout was better.
Nice...I wonder if you could let DCL know in advance that you'll be dining in your stateroom every night...that way they could free up your table for someone else and you could save $$$ on the dining gratuities and put that towards the cost difference for the upgrade.
They told us that the piano is gone from the Walt. They said it took up space that could be better utilized with seating.
Some of the main differences between cat 1 and 2 are:
- the cat 1 has a larger veranda
- the dining room in the cat 1 is in a separate room. In a cat 2, the dining room and living room are in one long room.
- cat 1 has a library that separates the master from the veranda and is off the living room. It contains a pull down queen bed if needed.
- there is a "butler's pantry" in the cat 1. Was nice to store luggage in. There is a walk in closet in the master in the cat 2 and in the cat 1, there are 2 closests, but no walk in. Luggage didn't fit as well so we used the pantry.
- In addition to adult robes, a nice little touch that we found in our cat 1 was 2 child size pink and green bath robes hanging in the closet for the kids.
I'm being completely nosey here but what do the cat 1 and cat 2 cost? Anyone care to share how many people are cruising and how much the bill is?
Sorry off topic, but I could not resist to answer this age old question stated above......

Dh and I have the Roy Suite for our October 2008 cruise. It's just the 2 of us and it is something we have always wanted to do. We are very excited!
Has anyone who has ever stayed there not gone into the main dining room to eat? (Did you have to let DCL know ahead of time of your plans?) Has anyone just eaten in their own dining room for the entire lenght of the cruise? I am asking becasue Dh and I was debating this last evening.
