booked Roy O. Disney suite

Actually, only the Walt suite had the piano, and I believe they are now gone on both of the ships.

The Cat 1 is 1,029 square feet and the Cat 2 is 945 square feet. They are very similar. Main differences are decor and furnishings.

BTW Billinaz, we stayed in YOUR suite last month. My wife liked it better than the Roy Suite as she felt the layout was better.

We stayed in the Roy this past November 10th to the 17th!

It was AWESOME!!!!

We had a great wine reception for DISers, (Hello Yndy!!!) and my favorite room in the suite is the "butlers pantry"!.

The pictures of the family are really amazing as well.

Here are some shots of the suite...

They told us that the piano is gone from the Walt. They said it took up space that could be better utilized with seating.

Some of the main differences between cat 1 and 2 are:
- the cat 1 has a larger veranda
- the dining room in the cat 1 is in a separate room. In a cat 2, the dining room and living room are in one long room.
- cat 1 has a library that separates the master from the veranda and is off the living room. It contains a pull down queen bed if needed.
- there is a "butler's pantry" in the cat 1. Was nice to store luggage in. There is a walk in closet in the master in the cat 2 and in the cat 1, there are 2 closests, but no walk in. Luggage didn't fit as well so we used the pantry.
- In addition to adult robes, a nice little touch that we found in our cat 1 was 2 child size pink and green bath robes hanging in the closet for the kids.

Nice...I wonder if you could let DCL know in advance that you'll be dining in your stateroom every night...that way they could free up your table for someone else and you could save $$$ on the dining gratuities and put that towards the cost difference for the upgrade.

We actually did that.

What was also nice was that you could have the dinner delivered during the early or late seating rotation. It didn't matter what time you were scheduled to eat in the dining room.

We found the verandah for the cat 1 and cat 2 were the same size. Another difference is the master bathroom in the cat 1 is much, much nicer as is the smaller 2nd bathroom. I did miss the bulter's pantry, it was a great place to keep things out of the way. There were little differences like no flowers and that it was laid out different that made some areas like the dining area tight to get around if people are at the table. The dining area in the cat 1 is much nicer. Even though the rooms weren't that different in size the cat. 1 did seem a good deal bigger to me.

Dh and I have the Roy Suite for our October 2008 cruise. :cool1: It's just the 2 of us and it is something we have always wanted to do. We are very excited!
Has anyone who has ever stayed there not gone into the main dining room to eat? (Did you have to let DCL know ahead of time of your plans?) Has anyone just eaten in their own dining room for the entire lenght of the cruise? I am asking becasue Dh and I was debating this last evening.

I'm being completely nosey here but what do the cat 1 and cat 2 cost? Anyone care to share how many people are cruising and how much the bill is?

We are sailing in a category 2 on the August 1, 2009 Eastern cruise :cool1:
There are 4 adults and 3 kids (1, 5 & 11) and we are paying $19,363.00 and that includes vacation protection plan, government taxes and fees and ground transfers. We plan to spend lots of time in the suite - with a 14 month old napping and us playing games and enjoying the veranda, breakfast in our pajamas, meals at our own table in the suite with a fussy baby and the extra room all together was worth it to us:grouphug:

It varies for each cruise. For Oct 2009 a Cat 1 for two adults and three kids was about $12,800 & Cat 2 was $12,100.

that's sad....the piano was the reason i picked the walt suite instead of roy..
we very much enjoyed having it there...

Cat. 1 for off-season is less expensive - I think we paid about $12,000 for 2 adults, 5 children. The first two passengers I think were around $3000/each.

I loved the Roy - could spend a year in there! The couch was huge - all the kids could sit on it and watch movies while my DH and I relaxed in the library or on the balcony. Only downside is that we never really wanted to leave so probably missed some activities on the ship. The balcony was amazing. Have a great time!

I would have to say that the answer is 'no' because he appears to have gone right to the edge of the forest.

Yes, we ate every evening meal in the suite and breakfast the morning of Castaway Cay and the last morning before we disembarked. It was wonderful! We opened the veranda door a bit to hear the ocean sometimes. It was late November so the sun set early but if the sun is still up in Oct, you could have beautiful views each evening from your table. We sail in the Walt in May 2009 and we plan to do the same thing again.
