BL challenge ~ BLUE TEAM ~ week 4

QOTD Friday: Yesterday you told us your biggets challenge to weight loss. Today, tell us what you could do to make it easier.

Hmm, one thing that definitely would help would be to exercise more. Right now I am not doing anything at all. I have a work-out video from WW that I plan to start using. I also am going to try to use my parent's stationary bike, as well as the DDR for the Wii (it really gets your blood pumping). Hopefully that will help.

Also, I need to start laying off the sweets. I've been snacking on way too many cookies lately. So if I leave those alone, and add in some exercise, hopefully that will help with results.

I just wanted to check in to report that I accomplished my goals yesterday. Drank my water, exercised, and kept OP (on program - on my eating porgram). In the afternoon DH let me know he was taking the day off the diet and I thought maybe I should too but NOOOOO I could not do that after promising Blue that I would stick with it yesterday. Thanks Blue for being there for me.

Now today is another story. As my friend Blessed99-Kelly says in her journal 'If I did it yesterday I can do it again today'. That is really keeping me going today.

Hope you are having a successful day too!!

Hi ladies!!! I haven't read all of the posts, but congrats to all of you!!! For my first week, I have lost 7lbs!!! I was so excited!!! I did have a bad weekend as far as eating, but I'm going to be back on track tonight. I'm making chili tonight, but have a lot of low fat things to put in it as well as lots of veggies!!!

I haven't read the challenge yet, but hopefully I will get to it either sometime today or tomorrow. Keep up the good work ladies!!!!:thumbsup2

Anyway of course I am my own worse enemy in this weight loss battle. I have this all or nothing at all mentality. As soon as I go OP the entire day is disastrous. I am a compulsive overeater. I honestly can not control myself with food. It has taken me many years to realize if I buy it I will eat it. And I will not eat healthy portions I will inhale all of it at once. DH will not eat it because he can leave it alone but it will call my name and I will eat every bite of it.

Oh my word this is me, too! If I eat a Hershey's Kiss I am all 'Well, I messed the whole day up, might as well have margaritas and chips!' :headache:

My computer problems are not going to go away soon. The charger is not working on my laptop. It's pretty important. And I'm pretty angry about it.

I gained the one pound I'd lost back this week. I've got to get my head in the game and commit 100% to myself. I'm all over the place thinking of a million things that need to be done and nothing ever seems to get done.

Hi everyone,

Briarmom & Dare2Dream (and I'm sure there are others) - I have really been working to try to let myself have a treat here or there, but keep it at just a serving and to stop with that.

So for lunch yesterday at Chuck E Cheese's the girl walked out with an apple pie pizza and said - Here would you like this for free? Hmm - of course my family said yes, lol. This was before our pizza had come to the table and we were all starving - it was 3:30pm. It smelled so good too. I could have been on diet mode and said - nope can't have it - even though I wanted it and I would have felt deprived. So I said -Ok I'll have one slice. When I came home last night - I went online and looked up the calories (wasn't that bad) and entered it in sparkpeople.

Tomorrow is my DS's birthday and he wanted a donut to have today (when I picked up donut holes to take to school for him tomorrow). So everyone was picking a donut to have. Now I try not to eat sweets and junk that often, but they have a peanut butter donut that I absolutely adore. So I made the decision to have it. I've already entered my calories into sparkpeople and I'm doing ok. Just slightly over my top # of calories to shoot for.

What I'm going to do as long as it works each week is have the weekend be my higher calorie days and Mon-Thurs keep the calories on the low end. This way my body doesn't get used to having the low end of the calorie range every day and it keeps my body guessing.

It's definatly a daily battle to keep that all or nothing mentatlity at bay. I find that if I don't allow myself to forgo everything, but rather pick and choose a couple of special things to have each week - but still count the calories and work it into my calories for the day/week (it's all about the averages you have in a week anyway).
So I've had two treat's this weekend and in the average of the week I'm still on track and OP.

Wow, talk about a slow day today. A different team is in charge of the QOTD's this week, so Vija or I will post tomorrow's as soon as we receive it.

I'm very proud of myself. I bought a box of no bake cookies from Wal Mart the other day. They definitely don't fit into my eating plan right now. Well, today I put the ones that are left and took them down to my new neighbor in a Ziploc bag! Now they are nowhere near me and my new neighbor is most likely under the impression I baked them myself! We need an evil grin smiley.

Happy Monday! I'm eating great today so far, and I did (Biggest Loser's) Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred DVD. HOLY CRAP. No, 'crap' is not strong enough. Insert another word. A string of them. Bad ones. I listened to Jillian and did the 1st level. I can hardly walk. Even typing hurts. Just in case you don't get what I'm saying, it's a tough workout!:scared1:

Happy Monday, Blue! My weekend was so so. Spent Sat helping my sister clean as we were having a gathering of old friends there Sat night. Ordered Chinese, but I didn't overeat and had prepared for it earlier in the day. Yesterday was a baby shower. DELICIOUS food everywhere! I took one small piece of beef, but otherwise had fruit and veggies. The cake, on the other hand, was a different story. Someone really needed to cut the pieces smaller cause it was way too good to leave some sitting on the plate. I did go for the smallest one I could find though and had a light dinner.

Thanks to the Red Sox keeping me up too late, and without clinching the series dang it!, I didn't get things into SP yesterday, but that is my goal for this week. I will track my food every day and stay in my calorie range. Gotta go break out the water bottle too as that's one habit I haven't gotten back into yet. Got the new pedometer though and I'm up and moving with it. Have a good Monday everyone! And remember, one slip does not ruin a day. Just jump right back in with the next meal or snack.

Oh yeah, and my BL Cardio Max DVD is in at the library so I've got a new workout for the week!

QOTD Monday: How do you handle weekend temptations?

I don't do very well on this...but since I weigh in on Friday's I always have Saturday as my treat day...I have my piece of pizza and some type of dessert or chocolate...I try to refrain all week from these...

My weekend was good...I do feel as though I might be stuck on my wieght though...I am going to need to try extra hard this week.

jamesnnick , Congrats on the 2.5# loss!!! Way to go! Sorry things have been so busy for you, just remember to take time out for you!

Lifelong_Dreamer, Way to go on putting back the chips!!!! The small changes and success are going to add up to BIG changes and lots of success! :thumbsup2

ToodlesRN , glad to hear you are slowly on the mend. Keep taking care of yourself and pampering yourself during your recovery!

Joanna71985, welcome again! So glad you could join the blue team. Sounds like you have a great plan in place and I bet you will be successful! How cool that you were in the CP too! It seems like so much fun.

dare2dream , YAYYYY!!!!!:yay: :yay: :yay: So glad that you did wonderfully on your plan! I KNOW you can do another day! And WAY to go on resisting the temptation of taking a "day off" with your DH! It is so hard when they go off and you want to stay on! But look at the excitement in your posts! YOU GO GIRL!:jumping3:

baby1disney, 7#!!!!!!!!!:worship: :worship: :worship: That is phenomenal!!! You'll be a superstar for sure!:thumbsup2 You already are!:goodvibes I know you'll get right back on track. Hope you have another terrific week.

Briarmom , Hugs to you! First take a deep breath, blow out the bad air and relax! With so much on your mind, and so many things to do, take the minute to slow down, refocus and then move forward. Hopefully things will start falling into place and you will be able to move through your to-do list one thing at a time.

MelanieC, reading your post gives me inspiration! You sound so cool, calm and collected as you decide if you are going to have a treat or not. You certainly thought about it, decided to treat yourself, but didn't just blow it and go overboard. Thanks for sharing your story, it helps us all realize it is ok to treat ourselves, and we can do that while maintaining our ultimate plan and goal.:goodvibes

Eeyores Butterfly, way to go on getting the cookies out of the house! Either of these 3smillies might work!:stir: :ssst: tiptoe:

:lmao:

Briarmom , what is the 30 day shred workout? I haven't heard about it, but certainly sounds like something I should look into!

tmfranlk , WOW, you did awesome over the weekend! Way to go on making the great choices! Sounds like you have a great plan for this week too!

Jaime , having that treat day is a great thing. Helps you keep going, not feel deprived, and you know that on Saturday you can have the treat but stay focussed the rest of the week. I read somewhere that they do this on the BL show as well. The day after the weigh in, they have a treat of somesort. I read that it was some macaroni and cheese servings for one contestant. I don't remember the others. So you are on the right track!:thumbsup2

Hey everyone, I am doing pretty good. I did have an unfortunate incident with Doritos last night. :scared: But I am better today. The scale was kind this morning, but usually it takes a couple of days to show up, so I will buckle down today and hopefully it will overshadow the dorito incident. I hope to get out for a long walk today. I am off of work today... so I am enjoying my day, and trying to get some organizing done for our upcoming Disney trip! 12 days away and counting!!!!!

QOTD Monday: How do you handle weekend temptations?

Weekends are always the hardest because your doing different things each weekend and there usually isn't a "routine". I try to plan ahead as much as possible, but also allow myself to hit the higher range of my calories and to have a treat or two on the weekends that I wouldn't allow myself on the weekday.

This way I don't feel deprived and it doesn't feel like that much of a diet. I'm trying to learn that this isn't all or nothing and that it's all about portion control and not deprivation. In all reality no food is off limits, it's just a sometimes food not an everyday food. This is tough for me to learn as I've always had that - well I've eaten this I might as well blow it for the day. The best way for me to combat that is to own it, figure out the calories or guestimate it, record it in sparkpeople and move on.

well, I just took the real age test and it puts me at 4.4years older!:scared1: I think that is something I am really going to have to work on!

And my CPs were awsome!! I had so much fun on them, and hope to go back in May!! I've also met so many wonderful people there (including Jessi)! :thumbsup2

You must be getting so excited! I wish we could go to the world this year...but we skipped this year so we can cruise again next year:goodvibes Are you going to the Halloween Party? It is my all time favorite Disney activity:goodvibes

HI Blue Team!

About the weekends.....
I also allow myself a couple of extra "treats" on the weekends. If someone has a dessert, I will take one "bite" of it. Or just allow 1-2 potato chips w/ dip. I find that if I give myself permission to take just a small portion, I won't end up craving it so much. I tend to eat out more on the weekends and try to make healthy choices. For example, we ended up at McDonalds for lunch on Saturday. I ordered a Quarter Pounder w/ Cheese but substituted the apple dippers for the fries. Then on Sunday, we went out for Chinese and I split a Chicken dish with my Mom and limited the rice to only 1/2 cup cooked. Not great, but not a total loss either.

Another weekend tip....
On Sunday I cut up carrots, celery, onion, green pepper, and cucumber into small pieces. I add one cup of this mixture to lettace for a side salad with dinner during the week. I find that if its all cut up and ready to go, I am much more likely to eat it. Its a great way to get more vegetables into my daily eating.

Baby1disney: I am looking for a great healthy Chili recipe. Would you be willing to share yours? Or anyone else?

Best wishes to all for a great week.

Donna

QOTD Monday: How do you handle weekend temptations?

Frankly, I suck at weekends. I know it's not a nice word, but I do. I like to have my booze and pico de gallo and other snacky-smores. :headache:

What was your favorite time? What did you do? I hope DD wants to do this when she is older. We have a nephew that did it with his GF and he had a GREAT time, and she HATED it! They were both at DTD, at 2 different stores with 2 VERY different managers...

You must be getting so excited! I wish we could go to the world this year...but we skipped this year so we can cruise again next year:goodvibes Are you going to the Halloween Party? It is my all time favorite Disney activity:goodvibes

Oh, I am!!!! Even DD is counting down with me! We are going to the Halloween Party too. DD and I went last year at this time for a girls trip and it was priceless, loved it so much that we are going back again this year and taking the boys with us. I know that DH and DS are going to love it too. F&WF will be great for DH and he is doing the Segway tour, and DS will love the party! GUESS what we are going to dress up as for the party....

The Haunted Mansion Dancers! I can't wait!

Thos are all great tips! You have a lot of self control, and I applaud you for that! It is also a great tip to have the salad fixin's cut up already. I'll have to try that.

So far I have done merchandise, character attendant twice, custodial, and QSFB (Casey's Corner). Merchandise I was at Fantasyland mostly (I also spent 2 weeks each in Liberty Square and Adventureland), and custodial I was at Epcot WS.

By far my favorite time had to be my second CP (May 2006 to Jan 2007), when I did character attendant for the first time. It was awsome!! I was down in FL for the major holidays, got to work/attend MNSSHP and MVMCP, got to spend my birthday in WDW, and got to play with the characters every day!:goodvibes
