Hi Everyone! It has been CRAZY here since the weekend, I didn't even get on to the computer yesterday at all! I want to send a big thank you for all of your kind words of congratulations. I can't tell you how much it means to me! You guys are the best!:goodvibes

Now I need to send out an apology. Sorry that I haven't had the time to do the individual replies this week. I feel badly about that, but please know that I am reading all of the posts and am celebrating your successes:cheer2: and sending hugs when the going is getting a bit tough.

Thanks to Eeyore's Butterfly for posting the QOTD!:thumbsup2

So far I have been doing pretty good with the food and getting in my evening walks. I am looking forward to Weigh in on Friday. Hopefully this will be a great week for many of us.

QOTD:
Monday: I haven't had a defining moment. I am just at a place that I know there is no choice, for my health I need to loose the weight, and I am tired of being sick and tired and uncomfortable all of the time.

Tuesday: I haven't decided yet on a favorite team yet. I guess I like the orange, yellow and red team, but some of the attitudes aren't very positive.

Quick check-in before sitting down with the family. Today has been good, feeling a little bloated right now so chugging down the water...think I had too much salt.

Didn't realize the Orange BL team was from NC...guess I would have known if I was caught up on the episodes. Maybe I can talk the family into watching tonight.

Hypermommy - I understand OP day to mean an on-plan day. Melanie, if I'm wrong, please correct. Good for you too on resisting those temptations...I understand how hard it is. We homeschool and our living/dining room/kitchen is all one big room. I have had to work on getting things out of here that are too large of a temptation and replace them with fruit, raw veggies, etc. When I get a hunger pain I've also been trying to just fill up with water instead of grazing the cabinets too.

Welcome new team members- we are a big and busy group! I have pages of posts to back through - I'm sorry I haven't responded to everyone personally I certainly don't mean to only respond to half and then no one else!

My defining moment was actually not when one of my students asked if I was pregnant (I wasn't) - that just made me more depressed. I think its just been an ongoing general dissatifaction with myself and the fact that even my "fat pants" don't button and they were always my really baggy jeans. Also I guess it was finding myself hesitating to participate (or not participating) in an activity because I was embarrassed about my size and my lack of ability to do physical activities that I once could.

BL team - I don't know yet - only watched the first episode and was really upset and put off by Jillian. DH won't watch anymore so I have to catch up this weekend when he's at work. Really liked the team sent home as they seemed so dedicated to each other.

Tried a new recipe 2 nights in a row this week. Made pan seared Tilapia last night with a lemon white wine sauce (3), steamed broccoli, butternut squash with spinach and craisins (1), and uncle bens wild rice (2). Very nice dinner for 6 points.

Tonight I made shrimp skewers with a little olive oil, garlic, lemon, & rosemary on the grill (3 points for 10 shrimp-not the jumbo ones) and 2 mini whole wheat pitas (2) and a yogurt tzatziki sauce made with the nf greek yogurt, lemon, garlic, herbs, & cucumber (1), 2 tbls hummus (low fat) (1) plus a salad with ff balsamic dressing & steamed green beans. 7 pointsfor dinner

I liked this challege as it helped me break my same old dinner rut. I'm also giving myself a new mini challenge to buy one new fruit or vegetable each week - sometimes I get to the store and I think I have no idea how to cook that (Like collard greens) - I'm afraid to try them because I have no idea what to do with them that is healthy - of course my dh talks about his grandmom cooking them with fat back and I'm like "you're missing the point, hon":rotfl:

Hypermommy-

What's an OP day?

Hi there - Yep, tammy is right - it's an on program day- meaning you worked the program your on to the fullest (I think i've even heard it called an on point (I guess for weight watcher points) too.

Welcome to the Blue Team - tmfranlk :cheer2:

I am seeing mentions of a challenge for the week, did I miss somebody posting it in this thread or is it located somewhere else? Please help as I seem to be clueless! :confused3 :lmao:

Welcome to our newest members Raenstoirm and TMFranlk! :cheer2:

QOTD Wednesday: What is your favorite Disney movie?

/
Lifelong Dreamer: The challenge for this week is to try a new recipe or food. One of the biggest challenges to weight loos is boredom, so hopefully by this will help you keep it fresh and fun.

Thanks! I must have somehow missed it when it was originally posted. :confused3

QOTD: My favourite Disney movie is The Little Mermaid. I love the story, the music, the animation, everything! I remember seeing it with my best friend when we were in grade one. My dad also used to sing "Kiss The Girl" to me all the time and dance with me around the room. That is when he wasn't having me dance along with him to his Rolling STones cds.

Welcome new members!

Tammy, thanks! I've also made sure I have fruit and stuff around. I've discovered that I like apples with a bit of salt on them. I know... I have to watch the salt But it seems that everything healthy is so sweet or bland (i.e., broccoli with no dip) and I have to have something and I don't have much of a sweet tooth.

njmom23grls, that sounds very yummy... I may have to try one of those recipes.

Favorite Disney movie? That's a real tough question!!! I guess I'd have to say Mary Poppins. But I also love Follow Me Boys! And when I'm feeling nostalgic for my youth, I'll throw in Escape to Witch Mountain and be right back there in the 70s.

Woo hooo!! I did the challenge for this week without even recognizing that I did it. On Saturday I realized that the checking account was much lower than I thought it was so it was time to quit going out to lunch every day. So I found a couple of low cal meals and cooked up a family sized serving of each of them on Sunday and put them in the fridge. That's what I've been having for lunch this week and on Friday I'm going to treat myself to a lunch out. I've got to find more low cal meals, though, so I can keep doing this. Any suggestions for a recipe site?

Lifelong Dreamer, hmmmmm... Sebastian vs. Mick .... sounds like an even match to me ;-)

Okay, here it is 4:24 AM and I have to go get on that bike soon and get to work. I'm biking to work and back as a way of getting in more exercise. It's 2 miles each way. I know it's good for me but ooh, is the devil tempting me to just take my car today. I know my butt's gonna be hurting becuase I haven't been able to get a padded set yet. You'd think that with all the padding I have of my own, it wouldn't be so much of a problem! And my legs are still a bit sore from the day before yesterday. Oooh, he's tempting me... but I'm gonna do it (do the biking) because as much as I want to be comfortable, I want to be that one hot pool momma more.

Hear Ye Hear Ye, the Weightkeeper speaks

Finally here it is. The results are in. The tabulations have been made. Everything has been double checked for accuracy. And the biggest question is 'Will your name be on the list?'

We started the week with 142 participants. We had 6 new folks join us and 6 folks have been removed for not reporting in at all. So we are still at 142 participants.

-------------------Black Team-----Blue Team-----Red Team-----Total
started week---------48-------------46-------------48-----------142
newbies---------------2--------------3--------------1-------------6
removed--------------2--------------2---------------2------------6
current-members-----48-------------47-------------47-----------142
not reporting 1 wk----13------------10---------------7------------30
not reporting 2 wk----11-------------5---------------4------------20
newbies not reporting--1-------------1---------------0-------------2
weigh ins for week----23------------31--------------36-----------90

What I find amazing here is that 50 people have not checked in for the week. That is 35% or our participants. So remember ladies (I think we are all ladies here - if not speak up now) anyway ladies always check in with your weight keeper. She worries about you when you do not check in. Even if you had a bad week no apologies are necessary. Just try to do better the next week. We all have an off week every once in a while.

Blue Team week 2

31 weigh ins
2 newbie initial weights
4 gains totaling 3.6 lbs
2 maintains
23 losses totaling 48.2 lbs

Weekly net loss 44.6 lbs
Cumulative net loss 111.8 lbs

Now let's get to the good stuff. Let's look at our Blue Team Superstars.

Please note - Thanks so much for the notes revealing your names. It showed me that folks actually read this junk I spend hours typing.

This weeks note is about those that skip a weigh in. If you come back after two weeks and have a great loss that is wonderful but you may not be a superstar for that. I take that percentage and divide it in half since it was for two weeks. That only seems fair doesn't it?

Also I need a weight report made to me every week. If you stayed the same still report. When you report state your weight for the week not just 'I stayed the same' or 'I lost 2 pounds'. I need the number of pounds you weigh. If you post your report on the team thread it does not count unless you PM or email a report to me.

Keep in mind I am human. I do make mistakes (ask the Red Team, sorry about that). If you have a concern please PM or email me.

Are we ready now? Can you stand the suspense?

Can you be a superstar? Yes you can. I know you can so get going superstar!

Have a healthy day!

Excellent news!!! Congratulations Blue Team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a question about the percentages and I hope this doesn't come across as I'm complaining or anything. Please understand it's just that I'm new at all of this and don't really get it. But I ran some numbers and (just picking 2% arbitrarily) if I'm doing my math right, 2% of 300 is 6 lbs whereas 2% of 150 is 3 lbs. So does that mean the heavier we are, the less likely that we'll hit superstar status?

I'm just trying to understand. And actually, that's probably a good thing becuase our superstars should be folks we try to emulate right? And I don't want anyone emulating me right now because there's 2 of me running around in this body right now.

Thanks.

Just popping in quickly guys - on the road today and most of the rest of the week, but will report again tomorrow.

Congrats superstars!

I have been sick (again) - and lost yet another day of work.

Same thing. However, this time, got treatment earlier and seemed to recover quickly, but still not myself.

Oh well - heading to the seashore (on business) for two days tomorrow, hope that helps.

Training interrupted, again, but there is a health club at the resort.

So much success this week - especially...

V - VERY
I - INSPIRING
J - JUST
A - AMAZING

Need I say more?

I weigh in tonite as I will miss WW tomorrow - don't expect to gain this week either, but boy, I do not recommend this diet plan!

Have a "magical losing day" folks.

Linda

Hi Hypermommy,
I know it doesn't seem fair on paper, but just like on the BL - the ones with more weight to lose usually lose more (or at least it's easier for them to lose more). Your body burns more calories when the when your at 300lbs versus 150lbs. It takes less energy for someone at 150lbs to live. A person at the 300lb range get's a bigger allotment of calories to lose weight on than a person who is 150lbs.

This makes sense if you think about it being competitive for a person who needs to lose 20lbs vs someone who needs to lose 170lbs. There is no way in a 4 month period for a person who needs to lose 20lbs to compete with a person who is losing 170lbs. It takes much longer for the 20lbs to come off because the body is getting closer to it's goal weight and it is much slower.

Percentages just give a way to compare apples to apples based on science and not numbers.

Congratulations Superstars and Blue Team!

I’ve been reading but not posting this week. I have not been doing well this week—can’t get my head in the game. Not making good choices or exercising…just feel blah. I read all the posts and they are motivating; just like watching Biggest Loser can be motivating. And I say “I can do it too” but I just can’t seem to get my heart and mind in the same place as the hand putting the food in my mouth!!! I can’t seem to get to the bottom of why my mood is so down and I can’t break through it to make the changes. I decided to put my sob story on the board (sorry to be a downer :sad1: )…but posting in hopes of making myself accountable or something...not usually someone who reaches out so I guess I'm making progress by doing so. Thanks Blue Team for listening.

Hi Sparky,
It is never easy and it's hard to understand sometimes why we can't take the motivation and run with it. It's just a place that you have to reach and make the decision that this is it. It's a hump you have to get over (because getting and staying over that hump is hard). Once you get over the hump it gets easier every day and then you wake up one day and it's just programed into your life and you just know you can do it all the time even when there are tiny bumps in the road.

So you just need to find the motivation to say that is it - I'm not taking it anymore and no matter what I'm going to win over the depression, food and whatever else is standing in your way. As I heard Jillian Michaels say on her radio show recently - Don't let a flat tire become four flat tires. Fix the first flat and don't let it derail you - keep moving even when you have a bump in the road.

You can do this - I know you can. I know it's not easy and I've struggled recently too. The best thing to do is just say take it one minute at a time. Plan your day today and the rest of the week. Just put one foot in front of the other and keep your eye on the goal.

Wow- I just went back and looked at the results from week#1 and realized that I missed seeing my name as #4 for week #1 with over a 2% drop because I was busy being ashamed and didn't visit WISH last week. See what I get, lol!

QOTD - My favorite Disney movie is - Pirates of the Carribean!!

OMG - last night was so sad on BL! I was crying so hard.

Congratulations Teammates!!!

QOTD Tuesday: I really want yellow to win. Last night's show was a tearjerker.

QOTD Wednesday: Snow White is my favorite because it was my first. That's when the love for all things Disney began.

I've been having good days the last two days. I hope to maintain tonight. We are having a surprise 60th birthday for my Aunt. I made the cake last night and everything smelled so wonderful. I resisted though. I'm very proud of myself for that. It's really hard to resist homemade buttercream. Cake decorating is one of my hobbies so not going overboard on the taste testing is a lifestyle change I have to commit to if I'm going to be successful with this weightloss thing. ;)

I just want to say thanks to everyone for being supportive. I'm getting over my Disney trip cancellation depression now...thanks to all of you!

Hypermommy: I would love some tips for digiscrapping. I would be starting from scratch so I can use any advice you have to give. I'm curious did you decide to bike to work this morning? I hadn't thought about that. What a great idea - especially with gas prices they way they are. Biking is a win-win.

Have a great day everyone!

Oh, I figured it was fair... I knew it was just that I wasn't understanding something....

Wait a minute... you mean as I get closer and closer to my goal I'm going to be losing less and less? Arrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I decided to put my sob story on the board (sorry to be a downer :sad1: )…but posting in hopes of making myself accountable or something...not usually someone who reaches out so I guess I'm making progress by doing so.

I'm so glad that you did!!! I find that the accountability of knowing that I have to come on here and let you guys know what's going on is a great motivator! And we're always here for you.

Sending some pixie dust your way in the hopes that you'll figure out what's go you in a funk and bust right out of it.

First question about digiscrapping is do you have a program that lets you open PNG files, JPG files and do layers? If not, google up paint.net or GIMP. PM me when you have one and I'll turn you on to some great freebie sites.

It wasn't just a snap decision. It's something I've been thinking about doing but I 1) had to get a bike [which had to be used because I didn't want to put out a lot of money], 2) get a helmet and something to strap my purse on and 3) wait for it to get cool enough here in Hades, er, I mean North Florida, to actually ride to work. But since Sunday I've biked 8 miles. Okay, well, I biked some of 8 miles and walked some of 8 miles. :rotfl2: Alls I know is that I'm usually breathing as hard as I did with one of Bob's workouts.

Way to go Blue Team, all of the hard work is paying off.

Hypermommy - Haven't thought about putting salt on the apple, will have to give it a try sometime when I'm needing a salt fix. Hope your bike ride went well and the devil didn't win his tempting :thumbsup2

jimmduck - Hope you get to feeling better soon.

MelanieC - So you learned your lesson about not being ashamed...You never know what you might miss!!

leamom2princesses - Good for you on resisting that icing, my daughter loves to bake and when she does it is so hard to resist but I'm working on it.

Still working on the mini challenge, not sure that I'm going to get that one in this week though.

QOTD Wednesday - Boy, picking one is hard, would have to say that Snow White is my all time favorite though.

Have a few more things to check on-line so I better get moving.

Have a great evening everyone!!
